hee hee geekboy. I want Kevin to stick around honestly.
I am a bigger fan of his than I am of Ace. No I'm no teenybopper
I just think like Simon. Heehee.

Kevin actually does have a very nice singing voice. I'm glad he's in teh top 12. I'm curious to see how he grows, but that is dependent upon how long he sticks around.

I'm not an Ace fan either. I thought his song last week was quite grating. He shouldn't do falsetto.

I pulled that from the recesses of my memory...someone
I knew a long time ago would make that kind of comment
when some less than desirable person was going on and on
about breaking up with his girlfriend. The comment was a
way of saying, "yah, gilfriend, riiiight".
I know that is mean. I didn't say *I* said it! But in a way
I guess I just did.

Sorry Kev! We know you are a sex idol! Good thing you don't have
to be a good singer to win that category!

Ok ok Kevin isn't that bad of a singer. If you close your eyes
and imagine he's George Clooney, George Clooney with Jon
Stewart's brain... hey, not bad.

I get the same uncomfortable feeling about Kevin that I did about William Hung. With William, it was always like...dude, you aren't getting the joke--you can't sing. With Kevin it's like...dude, you don't really believe that you're a sex symbol, do you? I mean, you're saying this tongue-in-cheek, right?

Dear God, I hope he doesn't end up being this year's John Stevens.

Right, it's like Dude, we're not laughing WITH you... Poor guy is starting to believe the joke. And getting attitude, too. Did you catch his comment to Simon last night? Whoa, get a clue Kev. You're not all that.

Did anybody else think it was a bit creepy to hear
a 16 year old singing about a part time lover? I know kids
these days seem (to me) to have girlfriends/boyfriends at an
earlier age and do have sexual relations etc., but yuck,
it was just so unbelievable. I was really surprised that
Simon didn't comment on song choice. Maybe I'm just
old fashioned. Probably.

Posted by geekboy on 03-15-06 at 01:09 PM
I also was waiting for Simon to comment on that, and similarly to comment on Lisa's slutty clothing. He kept harping on the younger contestants to pick songs that reflect their age, and to dress their age.

I guess now that you're in the final 12, you can sleeze yourself up and sing adult songs?

Honestly GB what was so sleezy about what Lisa
wore?. She was dressed young and hip if you ask
me. She looked gorgeous and only rocked at the
end just like the judges said, but her outfit
and hair looked great. Maybe her lipstick looked
a little too red on your screen as it did on mine
and that's what has you thinking she looked slutty.

Manly because he is this years choice for "vote for the worse".

theses are the same people who kept Scott Savol around for so long last year

And I do think he gets the joke. He is having fun with it, If I was his age and started getting the attention he is getting, I would play it up too. I found him to be entertaing last night. But I was taking as a whole, not just singing. here is his "my space" page.

I completely agree with you that Kevin is in on the joke.
He is taking it and running with it. Smart boy! Singer, not
so great, but boy, he is smart!

As long as Taylor doesn't go before him, I'm all for letting
him stay until he gets to the punch line. I just hope the
joke isn't on us!

I'm pretty sure he's aware of the joke and is just having fun with it.

But it does remind me of voting the biggest geek in school as the Homecoming King or something! I'd love to see him stick around for a little while anyway. Pure entertainment! The judges and the whole audience were laughing.

I agree with you SurvivorScott I think he gets the joke. He is definitely in on it. Personally, I think it is cute and entertaining for him and Seacrest to do that. I was glad he made the comment to Simon. Contestants in the past have talked back to Simon that's not a bad thing in my opinion but then again I actually enjoyed his performance. I thought it was cute and funny. It made me smile. I was definitely entertained and it wasn't as boring as some of the other performances.

Plus, I don't think we are supposed to take him seriously that is part of the joke if you will and it is definitely apart of his appeal.

Let's put Kevin's rise to popularity in perspective...

Geeky 16-year-old who has a decent talent...
TV Personality gives you opportunity to live your dream and be SEEN by 40million people...
Geeky 16-year-old then dumps girlfriend (ok, this was probably not a relationship that was going to last decades anyway) to possibly move his career forward...
TV Personality isn't impressed with his lack-luster performance...
Geeky 16-year-old insults TV Personality that has given him this opportunity...

While I do not mind contestants going tit-for-tat with Simon -- there has to be - at least at a slight level - some respect for the person who is giving you this 1-in-a-million shot at fame. Until a few months ago, he was a NOBODY -- it is very foolish to bite the hand that is feeding you...

I was actually hoping he would do well. Now I just see him as an egotistical manipulative brat that has alot of maturing to do.

Never, never, never, never bite the hand that feeds you. Even if it does earn you a few admirers for your cheekiness.

Let's face it - Kevin will go home long before the competition is over because his "talent" is just not up to par with so many of the others, the vast majority of Americans will forget about him in a year or two, and his swelled ego will cause problems for him for years to come.

OK, let's be fair to Kevin.

Simon, for Kevin Covais on an individual level, hasn't done anything visible to him. I am going to doubt he pushed hard for Kevin to advance from Hollywood to the Top 24, we didn't see anything.

In the audition round, Kevin got through on a 2-1 majority, with Randy and Paula as the majority, both pretty sure on letting him through.

In the performances, Simon hasn't been exactly glowing with praise (and that's his opinion).

However, let's not say that Simon gave him all these chances. He didn't do much for Kevin, and Kevin owes more to Paula and Randy than Simon, since they actually give some constructive criticism and put him through originally.

Hello Fishorcat...

I agree - Simon did not want Kevin in the auditions. And no, Simon isnt singing his praises either...

But, in many ways, this is HIS show. I am sure Paula and Randy get a nice paycheck, but he is the draw and he is the one making the bigbucks...

So, while Simon may be cutting him down, he DID put him through to the final 24. Of course, this is also a demographics issue -- needed someone like him to draw out the grandma and pre-teen vote. Which is fine... This is a business and the object is to sell soda...

Simon may not have liked him (and probably still doesnt), but he saw the business value of putting him through. You may argue that Kevin should be feeling 'used'. Well, he clearly is!

But Kevin would also be saying 'Do you want fries with that?' now if Simon had not found a reason to keep him. Kevin should be appreciative for no other reason than that.

Don't get me wrong, in this situation, every single one of these performers (perhaps except Lisa who seems to have a lot of background) should be thanking the Simons (Cowell and Fuller) for their chances on this show, along with the other judges. I can see why Kevin isn't exactly thankful for Simon though.

And if Kevin's audience is the pre-teens and elderly, he's doing his job right. From my experience, the people who don't like Simon being mean are either younger (as the criticism isn't exactly commonplace to them, especially to younger people) or older (who just think he's an asshat). Kevin may as well play to their sympathies.

Ok guys, lets take a look at chicken little for a minute. Here is a guy that has been a geek all of his life and constanlty picked on for no reason at all. I love the fact that he is getting his chance to experience in his life time what it feels like to be popular.Absolutely love it . And as for the comment to Simon, come on guys, you don't think Simon deserved that,,He definetely had that coming. Weather you like chicken little or not,you have to admitt that he did not do bad on that song last week,he actually did quite well, and I don't believe America was running to their TV to turn it down. I don't believe chicken little will win this competition, but i do hope he is around a little longer. I would rather see Ace go first. I loved Ace at first and thought he was really going to bring it home, but he his turning out to be another Constantine, someone who loves himself and the camera too much. I feel this is hurting them actually. I don't know what they are telling them back stage, but is seems that they are all trying to hard to be sexy and it is by far taking away from the performances that i saw in the beginning before they were told to make love to the camera????? I'm telling you. I hope they read these threads because they need to come out on the state and get into a zone and stay there untill they are done and that will constitute the WOW FACTOR that they talk about every week. If they just come out and loose themselves in the song, the sex appeal and attitude will just follow and have a better impact on us viewers!!!! I love Chris,b ut he has only WOW'D ME ONE TIME and that is when he sang that one song and I apologize because I don't know the name of it ,but I believe it had something to do with cutting.Sorry for sounding so stupid, but I am at work and trying to get these thoughts out before I have to go back or I would try to find the song. The point is ,is that when you pull something like that off it is hard to outdo yourself. I told my buddy that I can't imagine Chris outdoing himself since that performance and I have been dissappointed ever since. I am not saying that he is not good ,but I know he can knock me off of my couch again. I am not kidding guys I freaked, that performance was HOT...Well ok guys it is time for me to get back to work and I really do apologize for being so long winded here, but I don't get on much and had alot to say and still do.. *-) .... Oh one more thing. Last year one of my coworkers was able to go in and download all the performances and we would watch them at wor, however she is not here anymore and we can't figure out how to do it. If anyone knows please help.. See you all next week and lets have fun tomorrow night....Kodi

How do we know he isn't popular? He did have a girlfriend- and she is cuter than him. He can't have been a total outcast. Also when you are not in a large metro area the beauty standards set by magazines and hollywood are rarely seen in daily life so it would be possible for a 'geeky nerd' to be popular in the real world.

After reading his MySpace page, I think he sounds like a mouthy brat. I just have a problem with young kids and trashy language & not showing any respect. I think he's probably a spoiled brat.

I never thought he belonged in the top 12, had potential but needs more time. I agree that he is "in" on the joke & using it to his advantage, but now I don't have the "clean" image I used to have of him.

If the "granny vote" read his MySpace page, maybe they would quit voting for him! Unfortunately, he's like a lot of kids today that have no respect for anything and spoiled -- so I think he's getting the "brat vote" as well.

Wonder how long we'll have to put up with him . . . if he keeps up with the 'tude with Simon, hopefully people will quit voting for him.

To be honest, I don't see where you are getting this from.

He basically used, from what I see, one word that could realistically be offensive, the s-word, and that's not sword. Let's be realistic, if saying the s-word makes a teenager a mouthy brat, the only kids who aren't "mouthy brats" are either absurdly sheltered/introverted or simply not known by their parents if they think the word isn't said. Far worse is said on a daily basis. May not make it right, but certainly doesn't make him a mouthy brat.

I absolutely don't see the spoiled, he seems like a pretty normal (albeit geeky) teenager to me.

I AM SO FRICKIN READY FOR THAT EGO INFLATED LITTLE SNOT TO GO HOME. HE HAS TO KNOW THAT HE SUCKS. I FELT SO BAD FOR ACE BECAUSE YOU KNOW HE IS A MILLION TIMES MORE TALENTED THAN KEVIN. HALF THE TIME YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF HIS MOUTH WHEN HE SINGS BECAUSE OF HIS LISP. SOMEONE NEEDS TO SMACK PAULA CAUSE SHE IS JUST FEEDING HIS FANTACY. HE ACTUALLY THINKS THAT HE IS GETTING VOTES BECAUSE HE IS TALENTED. IN TRUTH ALL HE IS GETTING ARE PITY VOTES AND VOTES FROM SHELTERED HORMONE DRIVEN TEENAGE GIRLS.

NOW FOR HOW I REALLY....HE SUCKS AND NEEDS TO GO HOME.

WELL YES THAT IS OBVIOUS...CHICKEN LITTLE IS STILL AROUND. NOT THAT HE IS DESERVING. LIKE I SAID HE IS ONLY GETTING PITY VOTES. I READ HIS BIO EARLIER TONIGHT IN THE AMERICAN IDOL MAGAZINE. IT ASKED "WHAT YOUR CURRENTLY SPINNING"...HIS RESPONSE WAS KANYE WEST. HOLY COW CAN YOU IMAGINE HIM RAPPING WITH THAT LISP. TALK ABOUT CRUEL AND DISTURBING PUNISHMENT.

I actually enjoyed his rendition of "Part Time Lover". Paula and Randy were right - he kept with the timing, and was in tune, and didn't forget any lyrics - like kellie and Melissa.

Considering how poorly Melissa and Kellie did this week, Kevin did not deserve to go home.

The boy has a very nice voice. Yes, he's young, inexperienced and is getting an ego problem. He will not win the competition. But don't slam him on a week he deserved to stick around on.

I agree with you 100% geekboy. I posted beside Kevin in my rankings post that I got up and went into the kitchen while he was singing *poor thing embarrassed me to watch him* so all I heard was his voice. You're right, he sang that song great. You just have to leave the room while he's singing to notice it. :p

But no, he did not deserve to go home last week based on that week's performance only.

Dude Thank You Very Much! Lets give credit where credit is due.We all know that Chicken Little is not going to win, but his 'Part Time Lover ' was not a bad version and he did have fun with it.. I think the real problem here is that people can't get past the way he looks.. There are still a few I would like to see go before Chicken Little, I enjoy watching him.. I actually would have wanted Ace to go home last week if it came down to it. Ace is good ,but I am tired of him trying to be sexy for the camera. Ace is HOT no question about that, but his ego really takes that away from him.. Kodi

Just a tad bit, Kevin made me think of Elvis Costello.
Just a tad, but he did. I'm not saying Kevin has the
singing and instrumental talent of Elvis. What I am saying,
with all due respect to Elvis, is that Kevin is a possible
equal in the looks department.
Just throwing out that idea to you all.
