LAST EDITED ON 03-16-06 AT 04:52 PM (EST)It seems her ACUTE pain is not only physical, but also emotional. I knew back in the day when the Wayans made fun of her and Arsenio Hall got mad at them because she is his friend and the Wayans made her cry that her longevity would be cut short in the business.
And I wish her shell were tougher. She is a beauty and a talent. Her voice has great clarity and she could still help our world with her voice, or by instructing our youth with her own dance company. Or just by being Paula -- as she does on IDOL.
When great talents (and I think she is one. she is a cute, great American package) get their feelings hurt and take their toys and go home, we all suffer, IMO.
When Ellen Degeneres came out and then had to go back in because she ended up in a series of bad feelings and was hurt ... she left us without her radiant smile, her comedy, her gift. When she came back, with that self-confidence and that smile and humor again, I said .... "WHEW. We almost LOST that one, Lord."
I will always be thankful to Oprah. When the Wayans made fun of Paula in a dance routine, they made fun of Oprah in sketch where she ate and cried about people's problems and ate and ate until she blew up.
Oprah kept going and later had the Wayans on her show. And she kept on giving her gift to the world in the interim. I am grateful for that.
Paula should not let critics and what some people think of her take her away from that part of the public that needs her gift.
I have stepped off my soap box and I apologize for this dissertation.
