Go ahead. You know you want to.
He is fabulous, isn't he? I've had a crush on him since the first week and it's only gotten stronger. He handled Fiona's snit fit well. He didn't react to Kelly's lunatic outburst when he would have had every right to put her in her place (which in my opinion is the back alley). He is kind and gentle and wise.
Art rocks!

a JSlice original. isn't she something?
I loved him for all the same reasons Auggie listed, plus I was really moved by how he consoled Nicole at the end- he and Avo both.
Oh Art was my fave. He was the type you wanted to be around. Fiona was the type I would have had trouble staying in the room with after awhile.
Art was my fave from the onset, too. Personally, I would have been inclined to slap Fiona last night, if I were him. What a hypocrite and joke she proved to be! He, on the other hand, showed nothing but class. And he's hot.![]()
I'm not normally a tattoo kinda person, but on Art they looked natural. His eyes, his eyes were what got me. Even in the midst of being angry with Fiona his eyes belayed an infinite patience with the situation. Even when he was shocked when Fiona told him it was disrespectful of him to be angry with her, his eyes said patience.Art is a true warrior. The kind that has battle the truest foe of all...his own fears and demons and come out on top. Only when you understand something so fully that you yourself become it can you accept it. I keep wanting to say Art "Groks in fullness" but I'm not sure how many have read Robert Heinlein.
--is now reading Varley who was a great fan of Heinlein
Being a Heinlein aficionado, I fully agree.I read somewhere that Art is a cancer survivor. He's obviously had his share of life's trials.
Being a Heinlein aficionado, I fully agree.Phew! Nice to see another Heinleiner!
--will research regarding Art and possible cancer
LAST EDITED ON 04-30-04 AT 01:12 PM (EST)wait, isn't Fiona the one that says "Thou art God" ?
or maybe that's "Thou, Art, God"

LOL He!God, thou art...Art.

I'm not normally a "guy" kind of person but Art did it for me. His personality completely won me over. I am a tattoo kind of person so that just added to it.

If you ever told me I'd like a bald headed guy with multiple bizarre piercings and a body that is one giant tatoo I would have doubted it (ok maybe not about the bald headed part). Doubt no more! Loved the t shirt he had on last night too! I DO BODYWORK! LOL!
Art has always been my favorite. He is the only one that I would like to see as an Alt again on MMH2. Plain and simple- I.Heart.Art!

I am a tatooed and pierced person also, but not anywhere near to his degree!
Now I know why I have been following you. I love tats and piercings and I have been trying to figure out what your tat is. If you would just tell me then I could stop following you.

Why do I adore Art enough to start this thread? Because in addition to being one of the most gentle people I've ever seen cross a television screen -- there are meteor craters with less depth than his patience -- he did what all the Alts should have done: represented his way of living in such a way to make me admire it. I am now genuinely curious about modern primitivism, and while I don't plan to start practicing it -- needles and I just don't get along, thanks -- I want to learn more about it. A system that can count Art among its members has to have something going for it.Fiona basically reminded us that witches are human, and humans have failings. Lots of 'em. Art was the one who seemed to rise above the household -- and if hooks and chains were the elevating sources, so be it.
I really wished the show had shown us more about the Alts life style and what they believed in. I really don't think that the show did justice to the various life styles.Deonna
I agree with you Deonna, other than a couple of rituals here and there we did not get a good grasp of each of the Alts lifestyles. Maybe if the show comes back for a second season they will go further into that.

LAST EDITED ON 04-30-04 AT 03:23 PM (EST)Agreed: a little more 'day-to-day' Alt existence would have been interesting. I think they actually did the worst job with Don in that department.
Although maybe 'day to day' is the wrong term there.
(When he opened the book for his rite of passage reading, I half expected him to start with 'Chapter 3. Character creation. Distribute your dots among the nine Attributes...' To mercilessly cross threads, I wonder how many vampires are glad to see the World of Darkness go down?)
I really wished the show had shown us more about the Alts life style and what they believed in. I really don't think that the show did justice to the various life styles.I totally agree. Of course there is only so much you can show of a say of a life style or way of life in the time alotted and when you're playing a game.
Interestingly enough, they never really defined what "Modern Primative" actually is (at least from Arts viewpoint). Maybe they did before I started watching the show. It sure seemed to me though, that the path that Art is following is very much like the Warrior Red Road. He was very native american in some of the things he was saying and during his trials spoke of "warriors" and "rite of passage".
Then there's Don. When he was reading to the women last night he was talking of "bloodists" and "fetishists" It would have been fascinating to hear more about the actual "culture" of the vampiric groups.
Pretty much the same with each of them. Fiona got more camera time with her circles and stuff but they never really told about how she was brought in, what type of tradition she follows, etc. They are vast and varied and I for one would be interested to find out where she stands. Fiona is a drama queen but that doesn't come from her being a witch. She's a witch who happens to "be" a drama queen as well!
I hope if they do this again, and I do hope they do, that we get a better glimpse into the Alts lives.
--has also been known to be a drama queen but that's usually because she's in a play
I think we'd have to move the show to Discovery. Sci-Fi may throw a little actual information into the mix when there's no other options, but they prefer shock value. What might be needed here is a 'behind the Alts' special: an hour or two with a more in-depth look at their paths and how they each follow them. If they can dedicate sixty minutes to Van Helsing and the other new releases from All F/X, No Plot Studios, they can give a little more background to their surprise hit.
If they can dedicate sixty minutes to Van Helsing and the other new releases from All F/X, No Plot Studios,LOL!
Or how about their 60 minute program Investigative Journal: The Real Hell Boy Ack!
--thought it was bad enough when they did the same type of thing with the X-Men
They made such a big deal about somebody "winning" the contest to have the Alts come to their house and watch the finale--then seemed to drop the whole thing?Did someone win? Did it not work out? Were the winners too weird for TV? I haven't logged into SciFi for a couple of days, but there was nada about winners last time I checked.
![]()
I haven't seen anything about it. I'll research it when I get to work.Cuz ya know...work is where I do my best posting!
--didn't know that the Alts watching at home with the winner was even a consideration
Okay, I didn't get Kelly's reference to Art as a "fallen Catholic". Did I miss something in the Kelly episodes? Or am I trying to make sense of someone who has no sense?
Well, Kelly makes no sense whatsoever, so trying to make sense of her is pretty fruitless. That said, I think her problem (ok, one of her *many* problems) is that Art is the one who gave her the necklace that sealed her eliminated. In her chat on SCIFI.com she said Art had a "personal vendetta" against her and that she left "before her time". Apparently not only is she clueless, she holds grudges. Shocker, eh?
She also said she thinks Art has a "serious mental problem". Pot? Let me introduce you to Kettle. *rolls eyes*
I don't recall hearing Art discuss his upbringing or any prior religious beliefs. If he did I missed it.
![]()
Oh, good, because I remember him giving her the necklace and the glare she gave him. I just thought I must have zoned out during some discussion of his religious background. Kelly is such a dweeb.
Her outburst was hilarious, though. And her desparation to finish her bashing...tears and all. It was well worth the wait...LOL! Bonnie telling her to shut up was priceless, too...but Art's reaction, or lack thereof...he's pretty amazing. (Not to mention really quite yummy in the skirt thingie....hubba hubba)

Amen to that! Too bad he wasn't a naturist, also.
Oh.....did I just type that?
I saw this on MSN news and just had to post it here. I wonder if this surgence is because of Mad, Mad House or just those wanting to do their thing in public?
