"Ryan-to flamboyant to be gay?"
Posted by redefine_perfection13 on 03-20-04 at 00:27 AM
He seemed to be the type of stereo typical gay so it was almost logical that fox would plant him since he was straight...any thoughts on the casting of the males that way?

To throw everybody off. I like the fact that it messes with everyone's heads about stereotypes.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan really is gay, but was told to tell her he is straight just to mess with her mind. I couldn't believe she felt a "connection" with that Yahoo!!

I totally agree. I just don't believe that Ryan is straight, especially after the hot tub scene. I don't know what she's talking about when she said a "connection". This isn't the Bachelorette. All the guys are just playing the game trying to win the $$. I will miss Ryan, he brought some drama.

To the females out there...do you find someone like Ryan attractive? Even if the male is good looking, does his feminine side bother you (like Ryan)?

I found Ryan to be completely repulsive. He was rude, combative and obnoxious. Even if I thought he was straight, which I don’t, I would have eliminated him because he is a jerk. Personally, I judge men on their personality. I do prefer men that quite, gentle, kind and soft-spoken; men that are not afraid of their feminine side nor are they afraid of showing their emotions.

It wasn't that he was too feminine, he was a jerk.

>feminine, he was a jerk.
>Exactly! The guy was ugly because of his personality.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with men who are "in touch with their feminine side" But Ryan lost his masculine side somewhere during puberty. I was shocked that he turned out to be straight. Oh, and I don't like blond men either

I didn't find Ryan attractive- inside or outside. But no, feminine sides of guys don't turn me off. I like a sensitive guy!

I didn't find Ryan attractive in the least. I kept joking after he got booted that just because the guy turns out to be "straight," doesn't mean she made a mistake. I pointed out to my husband a couple of times how ugly he was-- not necessarily because of his looks but because of his awful personality (but his looks end up going hand in hand with his personality-- his face looks like a guy who thinks he's a lot of fun but is really mean and insecure under all that "fun.")
I thought it was fitting that Ryan got semi-pissy after getting booted. She'll take a look at those clips after the show's over and won't have any regrets.
Speaking of which, I have no idea what Jackie was thinking with the "connection" thing and the tears. I think she's scared about not ultimately choosing a straight guy, which is clouding her judgment and could potentially keep her from picking a good guy.
One thing I would find difficult about being in Jackie's shoes (I think) is that I think I'd be more drawn to the gay guys' personalities. I don't go in for the macho straight guy thing, much. This group of guys seems to be an interesting mix of trying to be uber-macho and trying to seem gay to confuse each other--- strategy which I don't quite understand.
But, I've only seen the last episode (w/Ryan) because of Spring Break so my opinions on the guys aren't fully established.
PS-- Sorry if someone has said similar stuff in a different thread. Didn't have time to check properly before posting!

Think Ryan is a want to be actor ---- think Tom Hanks early career .... Appears flamboyant and a bore --- but this kid is smart .... follow his eyes in the hot tub scene ..... Eddie plays a good part too

I don't care what he says...I don't believe he's straight. I'm gay and my gaydar was out of control watching him. There is no way, in my opinion that he's straight. I'm so glad he's gone...he was such a mean spirited person.>He seemed to be the type
>of stereo typical gay so
>it was almost logical that
>fox would plant him since
>he was straight...any thoughts on
>the casting of the males
>that way?

Growing up there was this guy that I went to school with that was a little more feminine than Ryan and he is happily married with two kids. Well, I say happily married...I don't know if he has the wondering eye!

My parents were married for 31 years before my father came out and they split up. We all had NO idea.Just sayin' is all.
In retrospect, however, his fondess for cooking, flower arranging and butterflies should have been a tip-off.

That must have been rather heavy duty for your Mother. How did your family take it? How were you after finding out?

Notice how Ryan was putting his arms around him and copping a little feel. I was in the Navy, and the straight guys would clown around with this sort of thing, but the one on the receiving end would never react like Ryan did. It was usually a playful shove back or some kind of joking but firm resistence. The ones that went squealing for mamma ("he's gay!!, etc.) were the rarity and usually obnoxious closet cases. A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing.

No matter what he says, Ryan is a game-playing little queen. He's also very immature.I was glad he got kicked to the curb.

I just wish I could have been the one to kick him! URGH..he got on my nerves. I thought Eddie handled the whole incident very well. I would have been furious with Ryan!
