that show was boring boring boring boring boring boringthe guy is a tool the girl already cried but he's an overboard tool and she isn't sticking up for herself and taking a stand. instead, she just cried. i'd yell.
something like, "listen you fat $%^&, if you don't stop being an ass, and start behaving, we will both lose." she hasn't even tried.

I was tempted (self-styled bottom feeder that I am) but was so bored with the protagachick and the hostess with the leastess that I returned to my previous choice for that slot, Dream House (or House or Dreams or whatever - Norm hosts a reality show in Florida on A&E, that one).
Followed by Airline, a new favorite.
Speaking of favorites, how's CQ?

I caught most of the first episode of house of dreams. IMHO it is just a lame version of Survivor. It has almost nothing to do with building a house, I had hoped it was some kind of cometition based house building exercise. At least on Survivor they don't start targeting the 'strong' players until the tribes merge, on HoD the first vote was based entirely upon who would be easier to defeat in the end. Great concept, have a game where the weakest player wins!!!

heh, i thought it was retardedly humourous. Kinda like Joe Schmoe for those dating/marriage games. I thought it was funny to see her squirm, and take it from him.

I think the woman, Randy, is still smiling for the camera like a good little DAW. You can tell she's torn. She wants to be a DAW but is it really worth it? She reminds me of the intro to Three's Company when Suzanne Somers gets squirted with water on the balcony. She's surprised and ticked off, but then she sees the camera and starts smiling and being a DAW. Randy smiled through that whole thing and never forgot the cameras. I think Randy looks a little bit like Carmen Rasputin from the 2nd AI.
The guy, Steve, reminds me of a fat Tom Hanks, but not quite as endearing.
I'm a little confused about the premise. I understand that if they dupe everyone, they get money. So why is Fat Tom so intent on making this hard for her? Shouldn't he be wanting the ruse to work, too? Or is he getting paid an enormous amount of money no matter what the outcome?

He's a paid actor, but I doubt he is paid an 'enormous' amount of money. His 'family' are also actors. I suspect her family and freinds are in on the joke also, but that has'nt been revealed yet.

See you next Monday night, Beav.
Seriously, I know what you mean. The previews to future shows in the series made me cringe. Watching this family trying desperately to save their daughter from making a huge mistake was, as you say, wrong.
I kept thinking of my late father and how such a thing would just rip his heart out.

pretty interesting. I have to watch more of it to get a better feel of it, but so far, so good. Plus, he isn't there to make anything easy for the family or her. But, he going to have to watch what he says and does or someone may start asking questions about the whole thing and ruin everything.

spoilers...lol...the spoiler is that the show is lame.Listen, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance, I knew the Joe Schmoe Show, the Joe Schmoe Show was a friend of mine, and your no Joe Schmoe Show!
I like seeing drama queens cry as much as the next guy
, but it gets kinda old when that is the only emotion you see. Week1: Randi crys because see thinks the guy is hot for her. Week2: Randy crys because see is embarresed in front of her friend. Week3/4/5/6: embaressment/crying.
Even if this show does 'make sense' (I still have reservations about why she wouldn't catch on eventually) you only see one emotion. In the Joe Schmoe Show, one minute Matt would be shocked, then elated, then confused, then angry, etc...

DH and I were amused by the show. Steve didn't seem obnoxious. He was more uncouth and clumsy. Maybe he'll turn on the "obnoxious" when he meets her family. My one objection ... Did they really have to show us his hairy back? *shudder*
He does have gorgeous eyes.
Thanks Frisky. I was trying to think of who Randy reminded me of and you are right ... It's Carmen from AI. *nuzzle*

*lvoe butt*I also thought she looked kinda like that chick on the Y&R. I don't watch it now, but the girl was named "Cricket." She looked a bit like her, too.
The guy is soooooo Fat Tom Hanks.

"The Kim Perspective:"

I watched mildly amused from the start. I was very confused at how they had convinced Randi to sit in a hotel room for 2 or 3 weeks without knowing what show she was going to be on. What kind of DAW do you have to be to do THAT? Any sympathy I might have felt was negated by the fact that she signed on for a reality show without any idea of the premise. What an idiot.I like the real guy whose name is escaping me. The persona is disgusting. The bidet thing was rather funny, the table manners thing gross, the massage thing perfect to embarass her, but the highlight of the evening for me???
THE "NAKED DANCE"
He had me laughing me freaking head off. I thought I was going to fall off the couch. He was so perfectly in character and hilariously over the top that I was hoping that HE would get a milion bucks.
Other than that? I'm not so sure. It's really kind of stupid.
Miscellaneous Ramblings

i was only halfway paying attention to it (was watching about 4 things at once) but i agree kim, the naked dance was hilarious!

The only reason I'm watching this show is to see her freaked out by having to introduce someone like Steve to her friends and family. Because, you know, he is like, totally not someone she would ever date.

LAST EDITED ON 01-20-04 AT 09:47 AM (EST)I must say I enjoyed the show. I love how she thinks it is real and they keep planting seeds in her head that this is just how 'Steve' is....clumsy and tactless. This show is going to be great mainly because we have a money-hungry crybaby as the contestant.
Didn't get one thing though.....if Randi didn't have to see Steve do the naked dance, then why did we have to watch it??? Totally unnecessary, funny, but unnecessary.

DH and I decided to check this out just to see what it was about. We both laughed thru the entire show. If they can keep this up we'll watch the whole series. The guy is having a riot. And she has to be a DAW or she would never have agreed to this in the first place. I had to relisten to make sure I heard right when they said she had been locked away from everyone for 3 WEEKS in a hotel room. She had no idea what the show was, but she agreed to this just to be on TV???

I think the show started off slow, but will get funnier and funnier as the show progresses. I think the point of the show is to drive the girl crazy thinking that she has to get her parents to agree to the marriage and then give her a million dollars as payment for all her pain. And considering that she's willing to go through with it all for $500,000, she'll be thrilled to realize it was all a joke! But will her family disown her for doing this? ...But I'm from Pittsburgh!

Brooke from one of the MTV Sorority Girls seasons.Anyway, while the show itself is a mockery of marriage and that bugs me...I'm laughing at it. I thought he was very funny and she is very shallow. I'll keep watching.

Steve, to me, is an exact cross between C.T. from Real World Paris and the used-to-be-obese-student on Ed (the one who's since had gastric bypass and is getting slimmer). I liked Steve. I agree he had nice eyes and I found him endearing. I'm sure I'll change my mind when he brings on his fully obnoxious alter ego!

My husband and I were talking last night about the ending of this show. What if they end up falling for each other. He has beautiful eyes. He's just fat and nasty acting. Because he is a professional actor. If they were to slap a bit of class on him and shave his belly, back and legs. Who's knows!!!! That could be a good ending. JUST A THOUGHT

I think she's too superficial to fall for the fat guy. I noticed when she had her pick of the fake fiances, she picked the top three hotties (IMO
). She was immediately turned off by Steve the minute she saw him, and made it clear that she doesn't date guys "like that."I wonder if she would still be crying if one of the hot guys did a naked dance and got drunk and smashed vases and went for a midnight dip in the hottub?

I can't see that happening because he's only going to get worse. I was thinking that he's funny so they could form a friendship, however, like I said, he's going to make things worse for her and she'll have so much pressure from her parents that I don't see her forming a bond with him.

I agree. It will get worse, He is paid actor and his job is to sabotage the wedding and everything else. Of course Randi doesn't know it. She thinks he's in it with her to get the money.
I laughed through most of the show.Obsurd but funny. I'll watch next week."I've learned that kindness is more important than perfection."
