Would you have done something like this? I'm not sure. On the one hand, I think it's making a joke of marriage. On the other hand, that's a lot of money! I think I would ultimately not do it. What about you?

I would have done it, but it would have never been on TV. That's because my family is normal and would have supported me no matter who I picked to marry. If it had been me on this show, it would have been really boring just watching me announce my engagement, then my mom hugs me, then we have a wedding. That would have pretty much been the whole show!
"Evil" Dr. Will: Reality Show Legend!
Nope I would not have done it. But then I have no desire to go on a reality show. So I would have never applied or been approached to do it.
I agree here.~ thecampbellguy

Could I do it? I think I could. My family is very supportive, as long as the guy treated me right they would have no problems, even if his family was wacko. I think the main problem my parents would have is that our family is somewhat traditional, and they know it's important to me to have my guy ask my parents for their blessing before we get engaged. So that would be the main thing that would make my parents suspicious.
Would I do it? I don't think so. Not even for the money. I've given my parents enough grey hair over the years, I could never put them through something so stressful.

If my family were that uptight and inbred? In a heartbeat! If for no other reason than just to tweak their melons a bit...people are too serious.

LAST EDITED ON 02-21-04 AT 07:51 PM (EST)A co-worker of mine was just in a wedding with a guy whose sister was supposed to do this show (got that?!). He said she spent the 3 weeks sequestered in the hotel, then dropped out when she got to the "mansion" and heard the show's premise. I wonder how many girls they had to sequester to get the one Randi?! And I wonder if any of the others started the process with other actors and dropped out (or didn't and we'll get to see them on future episodes, a la FLOM).
As for me, I think my family would support whatever decision I made, so I'd just have to decide whether a few days of anguish was worth the $$$$. Hmmmm....
interesting
I would be tempted for the money but probably would never do it as I don't really have any interest in being on a reality tv show. If, for some reason, I did do it, I would definitely try to have fun with it.

For a million dollars I would have sex with an animal. I'm not sure I would do what Randy did though, too many varibales.
Hell yes, I would have done it. It would have been great T.V. viewing when I tried to convince Cooker that I was marring another woman...

That's awful violent of you.![]()
I probably wouldn't do it in most situations. But I can imagine some special circumstances where my family or I might need the money and I would do it in those cases.

"On the one hand, I think it's making a joke of marriage. On the other hand, that's a lot of money! "I think that just about all of the reality dating/marriage shows have done that and some for no money...see bachelor/bachlorette. But then again, that's just my opinion.
I think this type of show only works with females being the target. When it's a guy bringing home the girl...the folks are just gonna say ..whatever you wanna do. Maybe it's some weird form of doublestandard...just saying.

I'd do it for that kind of money, I think. 'Course I'm already married so I couldn't but still. I pretended to be married to my husband long before we got hitched for other reasons. Why not money?Granted, my husband is nothing like Steve. But then my parents also don't have much of a say over what I do with my life and haven't since I was 15. Really changes things when you live in a different lifestyle than 'sheltered suburbanite'.

I wouldn't do it, but my sister or brother might. My family is not that uptight, but I think Randi's family is right to have issues with this prank. Her father said it best, when he said, "It isn't about the money."It's not about the money. It's about respecting yourself. Randi made herself look bad, IMO.
