I LOVE the show, but anyone get the feeling that Steve is so over the top that Randi must have figured out that Steve is a setup by now. I mean Steve pretending to have an accident in his pants, Steve's mom asking her about her hips for child bearing, the wacky sister, and the dad taking his shorts off in the hot tub.Come on, she seems like a bright person, she must have put put 2 + 2 together by now and knows that Steve and the family are actors.
What do you think ?
Well...one would be inclined to think that she HAS to know something. Even if she doesn't know the "whole truth". I know it's not me, but I would like to think that I would know something is up. I mean, no one acts this way in real life...right?
Even after her conversation with him about being good (which he is...for a while)he turns around and does something really wild...especially in front of her friend, Anna Banana,....she just has to have figured something out.just my 2 cents
LAST EDITED ON 02-04-04 AT 11:51 PM (EST)She knows that their relationship is fake but she might be getting suspect that he is over the top but then again, she may think the producers handpicked a very obnoxious person to make it harder for her to win. I really think she thinks he is honestly this bad! That is what makes it so funny!
I think that's the reason they selected a first grade teacher. Someone who knows what kids are like. And so Randi probably think Steve is just a grown-up who hasn't really grown up yet.
"As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality." - Einstein
"she seems like a bright person"That's a stretch, unless you are comparing her to Melena of AJ fame.
I don't know. She has a stick so far up her a** that it just may be causing brain damage.
I think her parents sheltered her so much growing up that she really believes anything she is told.
I really like this show too. But I think Randi has no clue that she is being sabotaged by Steve and yes he is over the top. And the crazy antics with Steve's acting family as well should tell her that this is a setup. But in the mix of it all, I think she maybe a little overwhelmed by lying to her own family and friends, the pressure of trying to pull this off. The signals of "I'm being set up here." goes over her head. It's kinda like the Joe Schmoe Show. Matt should've known that the contestants were all actors,(with all the mistakes they made) but he had no clue that they were until the end.
I hope the jokes on Randi and her family.
<<<It's kinda like the Joe Schmoe Show. Matt should've known that the contestants were all actors,(with all the mistakes they made) but he had no clue that they were until the end.>>>Don't agree. The dramas and characters in JoeSchmoe were more subtle. And Matt had a reason to expect that the other people in the house would exhibit some odd behaviors, because they were competing *against* him rather than *with* him. I think she should reasonably conclude that she is being punked.
LAST EDITED ON 02-08-04 AT 02:03 PM (EST)I think this show is similar to those Hypnotisim exhibitions. The hypnotisist finds someone in the audience with a suggestive, docile, gulible personality. This suggestive person then plays long with the post hypnotic suggestions primarily because it is their nature not to upset anyone. I think that she knows that Steve and his 'family' are just acting, but she is the type of person that would rather go along with the farce rather than create a confrontation with the producers. And the money is most certainly a factor.
I'm sorry but NO-ONE could be so stupid to not think they are being had. I mean doesn't her family ever talk to her on what the guy is doing???I guarantee that they have talked to her if it really was on the up and up. Either she knows or she is just wicked stupid.
I don't agree that NO ONE could be that stupid. I could name a couple of people that I work with who really ARE that stupid, and there's only 35 people here. Never underestimate the lowest common denominator. We have people suing McDonald's because they burned themselves on coffee that was *gasp* hot!
I agree and I hear you but I just hate to admit that anyone could be that blind.
Okay, that really made me laugh - didn't someone else on here once say something to the effect of "never underestimate the stupidity of reality show contestants"? I probably have that wrong, but close enough. Yes, it's painful to think that people are that dumb, but I have to agree - people will surprise you with their stupidity. Heck, I thought Matt (Joe Schmo) was the biggest idiot ever for not figuring it out, and this seems even more transparent - not that Randy's all that familiar with transparency (checked out her makeup??).Completely unrelated side note: McDonald's woman...3rd degree burns over her entire lap (yes, THERE), they'd had hundreds of complaints before this incident because they were serving coffee around 180 degrees (most is served more like 130), she only wanted them to pay medical bills, but they refused...Any way you slice it, I still wouldn't drink hot coffee in the car, but it's not that uncommon and after literally hundreds of complaints (which they ignored), I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that you won't get 3rd degree burns. Media never reported this stuff. Just FYI.

Don't worry, though! There are LOTS of people as stupid as Randy! (But maybe not as self involved.)
Makes me wonder: gauging her family's reaction the other night, plus the fact that they seem pretty UPPER middle class...I think they'll still be pi**ed off when they find out the truth. Just my $.02.
I am with you there. He is too over the top. There is no way Randi could possibly believe that he has $500 thousand at stake acting like that. I enjoy the ridiculous antics to be honest, I think Randi is...well, boring. She doesn't even give the type of reaction that would be normal, not once did I ever hear her say something about the money at stake to Steve. She knows. I just wish she would go over the edge for our sakes.
I agree totally. I was thinking the same thing. If they're both trying to win money, why would he act like such a jerk?
