"Newsflash: Spike Lee Center of Known Universe"

Well, at least he thinks he is. This has to be one of the more ridiculous things I've seen. Not Spike's (that's Lee) objection, because c'mon, he's Spike-friggin-Lee, but the fact that a court of law would actually take him seriously.

Hey TNN, you can call your network Fester TV. I'm a guy, and I could use the pub.

*LOL*

samantha fox!

mr spike lee is one of the most notoriously unapproachable new yorkers giving everyone else a bad name

i've heard stories from friends who have seen him out and about and he is unreceptive to his fans, which i would not expect, seeing how few there seem to be in the latter portion of his career. his biggest notoriety of the moment is that he's a knicks courtside season ticket holder, and attends every single game. he's probably more known for that than his movies!

i can't believe a court took this seriously, either. this is ridiculous. almost as bad as the georgia tea thing, but not quite as bad.

Heh, look at all the stuff with the word "Tech" in the name. I see a career of lawsuits.

Not to mention the fact that it proves YOU are the center of the universe, Tech!

I can't believe that someone was paid a lot of money to come up with the name Spike TV. How lame is that? Pooh could have done much better, I am sure.

Well this is one reason Ra and I are trying to break into the television writing field--its not like we would be working all that hard to raise the standards, now would it?

Y'all may be stunned by this, but I think there's merit to Lee's complaint. When I saw "Spike TV", the first thing I thought of was Spike Lee. In fact, I thought he was behind the thing.

His popularity notwithstanding, Lee has been involved in the Entertainment industry for some time now, and is very well-known as a filmmaker. So I don't think this case is too farfetched to actually go to trial. I'm not saying he should win, but if he can make his case, then it'll be up to the Court (or jury).

i think the general populus of this country probably doesn't know who he is.
i think more cultured and intelligent people will know, but the people watching this channel probably won't, generally speaking.

Yeah, but if they're not using anything remotely related to him, other than his first name, why does he get exclusive use of it? What about Spike Jonze? It's not his birth name. Can Spike Lee sue him?

Like I said, it doesn't surprise me that Spike Lee took issue with this. It surprises me that anyone listened for more than 5 minutes.

This is utterly absurd.

cq is right, Spike Lee is one of the biggest. jerks. ever. I'm not surprised at this, because his biggest talent is creating brouhahas that are completely self-serving.

tee hee...I just had a nasty thought. I am a HS History Teacher after all.

Does this mean that he can now sue the painter of the picture "nailing in the golden spike?"

Ok, its stupid. But if he is going to take issue with every use of the word spike....

I can't believe Spike Lee thinks he's the center of the known universe when it's quite clear that Pooh and Buggy are.

I just don't understand.

But who wants to watch Pooh TV?

I do, if full frontal nudity is displayed!
