Does anyone know what it's like to live there? I have a job offer, but Hell if I know..

Perhaps the Gorn planet is better, although I do like fried chicken.

Given who they elect to the US Senate, #####-kissing and hypocrisy seem very popular in the state.

Hell's Bells, I live in Los Angeles. It might seem more stable.

Coastal S. Carolina is very nice IMO. Western S Carolina has hills and low mountains and some radical Whitewater streams (including the one Deliverance was filmed on). Class 5 rapids if you dare.

Charleston of Ft. Sumpter fame is a really nice Southern town, a lot like New Orleans but smaller and more charming and with fewer murders. And a lot of great history.

Coastal areas aren't much like the Cali coastal areas, not as many beaches and lots of swamps. But there is real beauty in these swamps, just don't forget your DEET.

There are some islands including Hilton Head that are supposed to be nice. Never been there though.

Let's get our priorities straight.

What are the girls like there? And the pubs (of the non-political variety)?

What's not to like! Thanks for the information, Kingfish. Big change for me.

the end of N Carolina opposite from Ft Bragg is a very nice place to live. That's the Blue ridge mountains. A major legal industry is Christmas Trees.

I passed thru Ft Bragg once. Saw a fiat that had been run over by a tank, and a little family huddled by the road. Still don't know what to think about that. On the one hand Fiats are made to be squashed, right? But the family lost their car, so I guess that's not right either.

But mostly I imagined how good it must have felt for the tank driver to flatten a Fiat.

You have to become acclimated to the weather, it's very not Cali like.

They have a seafood thing in SC called Calabash. And they're proud of it.

It sucks. I like seafood, but IMO Calabash is for tourists who drive into the cities like Myrtle Beach after passing innumerable billboards advertising Calabash meals and can't wait to try this local specialty.

They should have waited.

Well, S.C. is the focus of media attention now with the Dem primary voting coming up on Saturday.
