Don't tell me how to do this (I found that already). Just give me the answer! (finding out how and doing it are 2 different things)

I need to add consecutive numbers and get a sum
all numbers from 1 to 500
1
+2
+3
+4
+5
+
.
.
.
.
+500

I found that adding numbers 1 thru 100 gives me 5050.
Then I got stuck

You can almost do it in your head by adding 1+500, 2+499, 3+498, ... 250+251 (all equal 501) times 250 pairs, or 501 x 250.

To do 501 x 250 (which would be a bit more than half of 1000 x 250 or a bit more than half of 250,000), multiply 500 x 250 = 125,000 and then add another 1 x 250 for 125,250.

How's that, prof?

Yup, it took seconds to just do 501 x 250.
