"How can I travel to Canada with DUI report?"

Posted by connor01 on 04-10-17 at 05:59 AM
Hi everyone,
I am from Geneva. I am the head of a new startup that my company is planning to begin in Canada. So I will have to be there for almost 2 months to get everything going. But since I have a history of DUI record, I think this can deny my entry into Canada.
When I researched more about it, I was able to know that a person convicted of DUI has 2 options. Either to wait for 5 years after the completion of the sentence. Or to apply for a TRP (Temporary resident permit) for entering Canada. I read about it here, http://www.pardoncanada.com/travel-to-canada/can-you-go-to-canada-with-a-dui-entry/.
Since I it’s been just 3 years since the case, I think I am left with the former option.
I will have to visit Canada within a few months. I have heard that it can take a year to process the application. Is this true? I would like to know about the steps that should be taken. Should I see an attorney or can I get it done directly through the Canadian Consulate?
Looking forward to your replies. Thank you.

Forget it. An alert has been sent to Interpol, the Canadian Mounties, US homeland security, the FBI, and US and Canadian Customs and Immigration.

Sorry Charlie. Rules is rules.

Sorry I let this sit here open for so long, folks. I just couldn't put down my wine bottle to deal with it.

Now, where are my keys?
