"Sticky Letters"
Posted by foonermints on 03-16-17 at 11:42 AM
Does anyone else notice typing problems on this otherwise dead website, generally used by idiot spammers? It kicks off my cursor and sometimes I have to type one letter at a time after reset.

First you make fun of the need R'help guy and we had the Ukrainian invasion. Then you made sport of the counterfeiting guy and we were deluged with the latest idiots. So was it worth it? I say, Yes. Not much else to do. Why not.

Is it just this forum for sticky letters, or are the others affected?

How on Earth can I share my brilliance (plus get free moonshine) only one character at a time? HUH? Is God telling me something?

Somewhere, somehow, there's an option called 'sticky keys', and it can be turned on by accidently hitting the right combo of keys, I think it's Control plus the right key. You need to google it to get better directions, but this should point you in the direction. It's happened to me before, and somehow I muddled my way out of it. It was annoying.

I must have been absent while the sticky-lettered site had its fits. It seems to work fine now, as it did long before. But there's another odd thing happening... when I login entering my RTVW username and password, I get these warning messages pop up about this not being a secure site. Needless to say, I'm not using the same password elsewhere, although I've used 'cahaya' as a username since the dawn of the internet age decades ago.

Once in a while I get that message too. But it's not from my firewall or Norton. So My guess is that that is a phishing attempt. Anything like that not from your own personal protection software is most likely nefarious. If you respond to them, they will likely try to convince you to try to let them run a check on your computer for free, and that is when the virus/Trojan/worm is installed. Then you have to pay them to remove it. Instead, they possibly (likely) would install more viruses that would popup periodically, requiring you to pay and pay and pay, until you get legitimate software or an IT guy to disinfect your computer.
Does this sound like a lesson learned the hard way? It is. But Norton has kept the bears at bay for me for a while now.
Lesson: Do not fall for unsolicited offers to virus check your computer for free.
