"Canadian Weather"

I am trying to learn new words that might be needed on the farm in Sasketchawan.

As a Southern California boy, don't know if my old bones can handle this. Guess we'll live in, like Argentina until Winter blows over?

They speak a different language up there. They say "Eh" Rhymes with
Hay) a lot, and "Ya Hooser Ya".

I think "there's a bear behind you" or "watch oot for the charging moose" is probably pretty literal. In any case, a large caliber semi-automatic rifle is a good thing to have. And lots of bullets.

Here is a good primer for you regarding Canadian weather terms and slang.

You've got the chinook, cow storm, woolly whipper, lambkiller and the obscene sounding Yoho blow, just for starters.

Just don't try these as pick up lines while you're up there, eh?

I've heard of only one of these terms (chinook). The others all sound like drunk talk.

Which in the pubs out in the barren plains of Sasketchawan, is very likely true.

Do you call q drinking establishement a "pub", "tavern", "bar", "watering hole", or something else?

We're getting some of that white stuff later tonight into the morning and afternoon. I may have to get out that monster snow blower again!

You look pretty stacked there... how many inches? Enough inches for your lady?

The amount of inches usually seems about right.

I agree. Regina gets over 100 inches of snow annually accompanied by bone-chilling cold, and it's only 100 miles from the US. Brrr!

Ouch.
