Since it was a 101 ° here in Los Angeles, I thought I'd give OT a few pics of my hike in the Sierras last week.

Not to Kingfish - Sierra is over 21 and has mother nature on her side. She'll be fine.

The Rainbow Pack Outfit takes travelers in over the pass, both horses and mules. An animal can carry 150lbs of stuff. Me? maxed out at 50.

Horses aren't all that sure footed. I trusted a horse once. And they aren't all that sure footed.

Me, I'd do it afoot. With a long rope and pitons and gluey shoes. And a donkey to bring me back.

That explains why horseback riding at Grand Canyon is on flat ground, while it's the burros/donkeys that take the steep, narrow trail from the top down.
