"High Sierras"
Posted by foonermints on 09-26-16 at 10:05 PM
Since it was a 101 ° here in Los Angeles, I thought I'd give OT a few pics of my hike in the Sierras last week.

I only see mountains. No sign of Sierra, who ever that is. Or if she is high.

Gorgeous scenery. Are you actually above the tree line in that top pic? Not to Kingfish - Sierra is over 21 and has mother nature on her side. She'll be fine.

The pass? 11,972'
The Rainbow Pack Outfit takes travelers in over the pass, both horses and mules. An animal can carry 150lbs of stuff. Me? maxed out at 50.
Next time, the Packer! It's a long 14 miles into LeConte Canyon

Wow. That's a lot of feet. You and your horse or donkey should both take less stuff.

LAST EDITED ON 09-28-16 AT 12:47 PM (EST)Horses aren't all that sure footed. I trusted a horse once. And they aren't all that sure footed.
Me, I'd do it afoot. With a long rope and pitons and gluey shoes. And a donkey to bring me back.

That explains why horseback riding at Grand Canyon is on flat ground, while it's the burros/donkeys that take the steep, narrow trail from the top down.

LAST EDITED ON 09-28-16 AT 09:59 PM (EST)I'd bet a mule could carry your aquarium.
Water is rather heavy.
Did the horse spill out one of your girlfriends?

I can hold my breath. Water. Whatever. That's the short story of how Pacific fish became Atlantic fish. We just flopped over Panama. And yes, but there are always more fish in the pond.

Speaking of donkeys...China is buying out whole populations of them.

Passengers on fooner's crazytrain
For this stuff called ejiao, i.e., ass-hide glue? Hmph! I don't want my crazytrain girl up there hiding hers!

Makes me want to give up dog.
Had a tough piece of dog in a Peruvian hut. Protein!
Glue? Waal, you use the entire animal as a tribute to it's life.
Don't know if I can become a 7th Day Adventist yet. Might try again. I'ts known around here as "The Food Church", but like any organized religion, like AA, it's a group of people advocating their way or the highway.
Be hard to give up Moonshine AND dog.

LAST EDITED ON 10-06-16 AT 05:41 PM (EST)I shall perform a life saving maneuver for Fooner;
Grab Fooner's face, force open mouth, pour Single Malt in.
This shall hereafter known as the Kingfish, not to be confused with all those other things named the Kingfish which the guidelines prevent me from describing.
This maneuver may also be performed on one's self, and this shall hence forth be named the auto-Kingfish, not to be confused with that other auto-thing that cannot be described out of embarrassment.
And under no circumstance shall I describe any of those things about Sierra that pose problems in regard to the propriety of this thread. Or how high she needs to get before she be crazy.

Cluthes s/b clutches. Just sayin'
It would be nice if we could be certain that California isn't going to drop into the ocean in the next 100 years or so. We'd have time to move the good people out, leaving Hollywood, Nancy Pelosi and Malibu clueless and falling.
Keep the moonshine, be good to the dog.
