Nope, I'm not familiar with it, but I got curious.

In Chinese pinyin it's "Wēixìn". The google app and Apple app reviews have been mixed. Most people like it, but there are a lot of complaints about how it intrudes into your phone settings, including your location and your contacts.

But who knows, it could be the latest espionage tool designed by the PLA.

I don't have anything that's worthwhile on my systems, but I now plan to use it on a separate system.

If you've got an iPhone, I'd go with Whatsapp for text, messaging and trading photos/files and Facetime for video face chat. I use both of these to communicate long distance with family in Asia, but only use normal texting with my family here.
