The Good Old Days?

Dear beloved friend,
I know that this letter may be a very big surprise to you, I came across
your email contact from my personal search and decided to write to you
concerning my deposited fund, so that the bank will transfer this money to
your account I am Mrs Monique Thomas from Spain Married in Abidjan Cote
D,Ivoire, i am 42 years old, i am deaf and suffering from a long time
cancer of the breast, which affected my speaking organ. From all
indication my condition is really deteriorating, and my doctors have
courageously advised me that I may not live beyond the next few months,

this is because the cancer stage has reached a critical stage. I was
brought up in a motherless babys home, and was married to my late husband
for twenty years without a child. My husband have died since two years now
and the family of my husband have drived me away because i have no child
with my husband and the family. Since his death of my husband I decided
not to re-marry,

my husband is very rich and have a lot of investment which the family now
have taken over.I herited US$5.6M dollars(Five million six hundread
thousand dollars)which my late husband deposited in one of the bank here
before he died. presently this money is still with bank Presently, I‘m
with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment. I
have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have being trying
everthing humanly possible but God knows the best.

i will like so you will help me recive this US$5.6M to your account so
that i will come to your and take a better treatment which you will use
this money invest in any good lucrative business in your country because
this money is the only hope in my life. As soon as I receive your reply I
shall give order to the contact of Bank to release the money to your
account Awaiting your reply,

Yours in Christ,

Mrs Monique Thomas

Is she hot?

"Well.."

Something has affected her "speaking organ",
which many men would consider a blessing

That certainly hots her up.

(No letters, please. That was a compliment, right?)

It's a variation of an old story.

She did say she was "Yours in Christ", right?

So, her mama's still claiming she's a virgin, and instead of an immaculate conception (that's been done to death), her mom is claiming the rugrats at her casa were found under rocks.

Obviously a scam -- no mention of being a long-lost Nigerian Prince(ss) or having a winning lottery ticket. We all know thost criteria are the only positive clues to a genuine opportunity to help a poor unfortunate (and line your own pockets).

Let's be careful out there.

One of these scammers stole over $100,000.00 from an acquaintance of mine that had slipped into serious dementia.

One of her friends came by and found that she had withdrawn another 20,000.00 in cash to send out to this person.

Stuck the money back in the bank. Had to have her committed to a home. What a mess!

So true, Moley!

Yeah, no joke there.

In my estimation charities that solicit over the phone are no better.

I discovered that my Dad was getting regular phone call solicitations from the Shriners (The Shriners! Imagine!) among other charities, and good hearted fellow that he was, always responded with a couple hundred dollars or so. This became a regular thing, even weekly.

They were like vultures, they had apparently identified him as a memory challenged older person and just kept feeding on him. Worse, apparently he was on a list of marks that was shared.

At that time we (his children) had someone (an accountant) monitoring his finances, but he was making his own purchases and payments. They finally alerted us to the problem, and we took control of all that. Then the solicitations started to get ugly and threatening, and it really upset him. We had to change his phone number, and some would still knock on his door.

We began to fill out police reports after that.

Of the Baby Boom Generation, and understanding how hard our parents worked for their money, these sharks that prey upon them should be shot.
Knock on the door for $$? I got no problem knocking your head in if you are threatening and abusive. I understand the anger.

Her friends reported this to the cops too. Doubt it does a lot of good.
Poor old gal has run away from three care facilities now, she just wants to go home. Good thing it's paid off, and she'll be taken care of for as long as she has left. Her retirement lasted 1 year before she lost it, she's now 72. Jesus!

Swindles focused on older people with aging problems should be in a special category. The shoot on sight kind.

My brother just tried a similar ruse on me. He had been waylaid in the Philippines, wallet and cellphone mysteriously stolen, needing quick cash to tide him over until his "contacts" could send him the appropriate funds to extricate himself from his inexplicably dangerous situation.

I ignored him. Just as I will ignore Monique.

I got a similar plea. Funny thing is, I didn't even know I had a brother. Mom & Dad must have kept him a secret.

Just as long as you still remember that $1000 you owe me, Bro.

Not forgotten - meet me at the Waterstone resort & marina on E Camino Real in Boca Raton on Friday Oct 24. look for a guy wearing an overcoat.

Sounds like a pretty nice vacation. Except for the overcoat, SPF50 will do the job.

Anyway, I suggest a drive through the keys. Find an elevated waterfront bar/restaurant, layback, order stone crab claws, and watch the sunset sipping gin and tonics. Then, go into anaphylactic shock because of your newly discovered shellfish allergy.

But, it was fun while it lasted.

I would rather have retina confirmation.
"Please send me your eyeball. Preferably both if one gets lost in international shipping"

Foonermints: Confirmation of body parts identity is very important!
