Burger or Fish & Chips? Burger, not a big seafood fan
Beer or Cocktail? Cocktail, Vodka or tequila
Waterside or Countryside? Countryside, never got the appeal of the beach - being fair skinned means painful sunburns.
Picnic or Barbecue? Barbecue, no question. Nothing like food off the grill.
Sea or Lake? Lake I guess
Swim or Run? Run
At the moment: Vacation or Staycation? Vacation
Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam? ummm Neither
Borek or Flautas? Flautas

ETA - World Series. Soccer (or football if you are not an American) is still a bore.

Burger or Fish & Chips? Despite the burger I raved about t'other day proper fish and chips from a decent chippy is a thing of beauty

Beer or Cocktail? Or maybe wine, I seem to have got out of the way of drinking alcohol recently though so I am mainly drinking rose lemonade

Waterside or Countryside? I like the water, however find the countryside more beautiful

Picnic or Barbecue? I hate to say this, however I have never enjoyed the food at any barbecue I have been to, burnt sausages, raw chicken, cold pasta and rice what's that about? and don't get me started on raw mushrooms in the salad. The company is always enjoyable, however I can have that and decent food at a picnic

Sea or Lake? There is something restful about lakes.

Swim or Run? Well neither tbh

At the moment: Vacation or Staycation? Just enjoying chilling and looking forward to the tennis

Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam? Controversial I know, however I haven't mastered the art of putting jam on the cream without it falling off

Borek or Flautas? A wonderful invention

World Cup or World Series? Although to be honest I think my beloved Scotland stand more chance of winning The World Series

Gotta agree about the fish and chips. I had proper British fish and chips in Hong Kong, when it was still a colony. Those things were the best thing ever. Excellent!

Also had killer martinis there.

Dan!

All this time I knew that something was missing. But all is right now.

Hope you're in good health.

Thanks for the welcome. All is well. Got my Masters, and still working on my thesis. Plan to go for my doctorate.
I lurk now and then to see what you old reprobates are up to.

Well, good to see you. We old reprobates need help, seems them young whippersnappers keep thinking that they know it all, and it's a chore keeping them straight.

Pity your aren't going for a PhD in Psycho-whatever. There is a rich pool of crazy people in OT.

Glad you're here to keep them whippersnappers in line.

And, as far as this crazy place goes, I actually did use one of our. . . uh. . . interesting events in a study for one of my classes. There was a minor (ha!) tiff, and I did a study on the cause of the tiff and how people reacted.

One of the famous fights from back in the day, from when some folks were trying to squash the bug; in the same thread, there was one who was trying to set the sagebrush afire. The reactions of those concerned seemed to fall right into various categories, including yours truly.

More specificity, please. Unless of course you'd rather not. But except for your involvement, that sounds like just another day in the old OT.

Nowadays it's hard work starting a fire.

Burger or Fish & Chips? Depends on where you get it. In Europe and UK, fish & chips. In the USA, burger.

Beer or Cocktail? Beer (even more so in Europe).

Waterside or Countryside? Waterside, on a beach facing the South China Sea...

Picnic or Barbecue? Picnic after a nice hike along some park trails.

Sea or Lake? Sea, with the soothing sound of the waves and the fresh salty scent.

Swim or Run? Swim (at the beach of course!)

At the moment: Vacation or Staycation? I just got back from a 2-week vacation in SE Asia.

Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam? Cream then Jam, gotta let the cream melt a bit first.

Borek or Flautas? What or what? Clueless here. I have to google it.

World Cup or World Series? World Cup. Go USA!

(Turkish actually, although I first experienced them in the Netherlands)

After googling and reading about Borek (Turkish) and Flauta (Mexican), I'd definitely go with the Borek. This pastry has a lot of similarity with (and many of the same ingredients as) SE Asian curry puffs.

They do look really good. I'll take borek over flauta.

Burger or Fish & Chips?
I'll have to go with fish & chips. I rarely eat burgers, but now and then I get a craving for one. So I order one in a restaurant (no fast-food joints, mind you). And then I won't be able to finish it. It never fails. I liked them better when I was younger. Also, I think they're best made at home. I probably eat fish and chips less frequently, but I like it as a meal better than a burger.

Beer or Cocktail?
Cocktail, please, although with hot summer weather arriving, ice-cold beers will also be welcome.

Waterside or Countryside?
I haven't seen a "countryside" in ages. The beach is okay for an hour maybe two but then I get bored. Hey, I'm a city boy.

Picnic or Barbecue?
Picnic, no contest here. Barbecue involves heavy food, I don't understand why people want to eat it when it's boiling hot outside.

Sea or Lake?
Lake sounds nice.

Swim or Run?
I can't swim (see "city boy" reference above) so I'll run.

At the moment: Vacation or Staycation?
Stay-cation at the moment. Though I'd prefer traversing.

Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam?
Huh?

Borek or Flautas?
Huh?

World Cup or World Series (I think I can guess how this will go) ?
Well I'm kind of getting into the World Cup. You ultimately never really care about the World Series if your team isn't in it. But the World Cup has its own exotic allure. (Plus, my local hang-out won't turn on "Jeopardy" when there is a World Cup game on, so I am being forced to watch it.)

Burger or Fish & Chips? Most definitely a burger!

Beer or Cocktail? Don't drink beer so maybe a cocktail as long as it doesn't have rum in it.

Waterside or Countryside?Countryside

Picnic or Barbecue?BBQ

Sea or Lake? A lake that I can fish in.

Swim or Run?neither but a nice walk is great

At the moment: Vacation or Staycation?Vacation in 9 days

Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam?Huh

Borek or Flautas? Also clueless

World Cup or World Series ...don't care for either

World Cup or World Series (I think I can guess how this will go) Shocked? I'm going by the "at the moment" rule -- so we've got a bit over 3 months to go until the Fall Classic.

Burger or Fish & Chips? It depends upon my mood. Usually I would go for a burger, but I would like to have real English F & C.
Beer or Cocktail? Non alcoholic beer.
Waterside or Countryside? Countryside.
Picnic or Barbecue? Picnic
Sea or Lake? Lake
Swim or Run? Swim
At the moment: Vacation or Staycation? Vacation
Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam? Huh?
Borek or Flautas? Flautas, because I don't know what Borek is.
World Cup or World Series? World Series

Oh I could just go for a scone now.

Actually even more contentious than one prepares a scone is how one pronounces the word...

The best scones I've ever had was at a hilltop eatery on Jersey island. Oh, the cream was fantastically good, very fresh.

So, what's the difference between an American biscuit and an English scone, besides the names?

(Probably the most often asked English cuisine question besides "What are chips?". I think there might be some resistance among the English to call them "French Fries".).

I think I could dive into a sausage gravy scone right now.

"RE: Jam or Cream"

I've only had biscuits once at a Popeyes chicken, however it was as disconcerting for me as scones probably are to Americans.

The difference would be ... some British scones have dried fruit in, but no American biscuits do

Burger or Fish & Chips? Draw - depends on the type of burger and how well-cooked, mainly
Beer or Cocktail? Draw again - it depends
Waterside or Countryside? Waterside - maybe the novelty for me since we have a lot more countryside here in Ohio
Picnic or Barbecue? Barbecue - fire up the grill on my deck and make my linguine salad
Sea or Lake? Sea - the Great Lakes are full of weird mollusks
Swim or Run? Run - no water up my nose
At the moment: Vacation or Staycation? Vacation - I don't even call it vacation anymore. I call it therapy. Ten weeks until Maui for me.
Jam and then Cream or Cream and then Jam? Not sure I understand the question.
Borek or Flautas? Borek for the novelty

World Cup or World Series (I think I can guess how this will go) World Cup since I don't really have a baseball allegiance right now
