This person never gave other human beings the respect they deserved and in general was hateful to the world.

I've decided to not stoop his level and just let his passing go with no hateful or disrespectful comments of my own.

I'll just say goodbye.

I was going to just guess Phelps, but decided to go another direction.

Peeps can choose to believe it or not, but I hope every LGBT within a 100 miles goes to protest at his funeral. This guy was one sick whacko. On the other hand, this might just embolden his followers to make him a martyr.

The comments section is full of calls for attendance (dancing & urination optional), but I wouldn't be surprised if the family decides against a public ceremony just to rob everyone of the fun.

Or they could go full-scale party and pray to be attacked.

I think making him a martyr is guaranteed. Highly localized saint is not out of the question. Angel who personally advises his deity? Stay tuned.

I think a stunning lack of attendance would say a lot more. Don't no one bother turning up for this one, news crews stay home, do the absolute very least you can do, nothing to see here, move along move along.

And if need be in a month or so they can go gay up the grave.

I think forgetting he ever existed would be the ultimate insult. He probably would enjoy having people protest his funeral. He loved publicity above all else.

I empathize.

But attending his funeral would allow one to:

a. Verify that he is dead. So far we just have the media's word on that.
b. Ram a knife thru the place where normal people have hearts, just make sure.
c. Spit into his open casket.
d. As Estee hints, pee on his corpse.

A long line of people, one by one peeing into his casket would make me happiest, I think. A long line.

I think we owe it to humanity to post this. And many others like it.

Phred Felps was a man, so the story goes, who once was a boy, and before that a misguided seed with brain damage, damage that persisted thru his miserable, venal and unfortunately long life. Yes, he was a pitiful example of how wrong headed a person can be. In life he headed up his flock and led them down the path of his sanctimonious insanity, never sparing good people from his brand of persecution and vindictiveness.

He is history, over and done history, and for that we can be thankful.

We can be thankful that brother Phelps has joined so many of his predecessors that would condemn free people because of perceived inoffensive differences, and we fervently hope that all others of his ilk and faith who have not yet passed thru the fiery flames of the hell that Phelps so recently journeyed, will soon do so. ASAP, if you please.

Evil and mean spirited Evangelist, thy name was Phelps. Praise be the accuracy of the use of the past tense.

Brothers and sisters of all walks, slants, makes and models, join with me in singing songs of thankfulness that Fred Phelps is dead.

Fred and his bozos protested (in person) the elementary school that my kids were attending at the time because the school included the children's book "King and King" in a diversity packet that went home to first grade families on an alternating basis.

I got to see them demonstrate in person. There were (I think) six of them and at least 25 reporters.

ETA: The NY Times obit was hilariously negative. Typically they will try to be more-or-less even-toned if they can't be somewhat complimentary, but in this case it was clearly impossible.
