First three reactions, in order:

1. They're lying. They are so lying. They are lying bastards and that will never change. They will never reveal her. The show will end on a nine-year misdirection taste and then the producers will run laughing for the hills with bags full of money.

2. ...after all the women who've paraded through Ted's life over the years, she turns out to be his ultimate type?

3. Oh, good. It looks like she works behind the Information desk in public transportation. That means they can justify eight more seasons before she gets around to telling him her name.

Technically the character credit read:

The Girl with the Yellow Umbrella.

The "Krirsten" character this episode makes it seem like they decided to just go with cute. Realistically, you know they must have done screen tests with the entire regular cast with many possibles before making this selection.

I'm not calling her unattractive by any means: I'm just thinking of all the women Ted's been with over the seasons and putting her into the Serial Dater lineup. She doesn't seem to fit.

Must have used a lot of fabric paint on that one shot, then. You know the one I mean, you HIMYManic, you. And does this mean that if you own a yellow umbrella, you are obligated to marry Ted? Ye gawds. Fabric paint in non-banana just sold out of every store in New York. In fact, when Ted had the umbrella, was he destined to marry himself? Because that's still not legal in the state. Although frankly, he can have himself. After all the carp he's pulled, he totally deserves him, and it keeps him from making someone else suffer...

I'm thinking, a golf umbrella? The latest mens sport pro athelete to out himself?

Haven't watched the show, but have they been making what could in retrospect have been sexual sporting innuendos? Hole in One? Counting strokes? Left hand fade? "I'll use a wood on this hole"? Foursomes?

Oh, I knew -- because I watched. And thus that post. Wait until 2030, get everyone back together with CGI kids, and now the show is How I Didn't Get Robin This Time Either.

Honestly, I mostly wound up frustrated by the ending. I accept the fast-forward rushing. It's just that I spent an entire bloody season at that stupid wedding only to have them effectively get divorced in ten minutes. Am I allowed to feel like the series was wasting my time? Yes, I am. So I did. Do. Shaddap.

And who was #31? The world will never know.

I realized sometime during the second season of Lost that they could make up any damn thing they wanted at the end, just like St. Elsewhere. Pam can wake up and find Bobby in the shower, Bob can turn into Dick and wake up next to Emily instead of Joanna, blahblah.

Barney and Robin were a toxic couple, they couldn't make it work, no big deal. IMHO #31 was Missy, the Mother body double for most of the series until they actually casted the part.

It's all in how you choose to see it.

Great review. Makes me almost wish I had watched more of the series (it jumped the shark for me about four seasons in).

Good read, thanks. Yeah, it could have been better, but they didn't have to be locked into that intended outcome. When they filmed the kids in their final scene they also filmed several alternates.
