A modern day Don Quixote. George McGovern, 1922-2012. Peace at last.
My first Presidential vote. I was a idealistic flaming liberal hippie very opposed to the Vietnam war. Now I'm an icy fiscal Conservative, with the heart of a flaming social liberal.
And I still admire his attitude and idealism. Still proud of that vote.
(Fairness in attribution: I stole that Picasso image - Man of LaMancha - from a cartoon by Margulies, Political Cartoonist. It's hard to overstate the artistic genius of Picasso).

I put in some time during '72 doing some campaign volunteering (as an idealizing 15-year-old). Unfortunately, Nixon and Watergate came along and gave me a hard lesson in political reality.RIP George.
