While I applaud the company for having the open courage of their public convictions (and I really think the sales picked up/lost equation will work out to roughly zero), this does nothing to make me personally buy the product. So now eating Oreos turns you gay? Well, it has to do something, because it sure doesn't give you the satisfaction from having just enjoyed a remotely edible cookie. The boycotters are stupid, wrong, pigheaded, and the usual gang of Tea Party suspects. But let's face it: half of them weren't buying the product before this because it represents and encourages racial mixing. Ask anyone. Well, ask anyone at a certain type of gathering. You may need to apply heavy makeup before approaching. And turning off your brain wouldn't hurt.
So overall:
1. Kudos.
2. Baking my own.

Turning this conversation into something it's not...Well, ask anyone at a certain type of gathering. You may need to apply heavy makeup before approaching.
Isn't "oreo" a slang term that originated in and used mostly by the black community?

Over here I believe the word Coconut is used.

Urband Dictionary says that coconut is used for Mexicans, Indians, Phillipinos, or Pacific Islanders who have "gone white". I'm not sure if the Indians being slandered are supposed to be American or Asian. Also, UD says the term to use for Asians is "banana".

It's another word used differently between our two languages! (13 and 14 seem to cover me)

The makeup comment kind of threw me. My first reaction was...well, I guess I saw it as only one-sided. Blanket accusations of racism bother me greatly. I apologize for taking it wrong.

LAST EDITED ON 06-26-12 AT 01:47 PM (EST)I'm not claiming every last Toilet Paper is a homophobic racist. However, I will openly laugh at any presented number lower than 51%.
(ETA: 'Heavy makeup' wasn't intended to represent 'blackface' there, if that's where you thought I was going with it. It just meant that as some people would need a lot of cosmetic trickery to get into a KKK meeting alive, it takes a lot of palette magic to make it through some Black Power festivals in one piece.)
I have never felt like a banana. I'm not underfoot, I don't find being stepped on comedic, and I'm totally sure I don't have a universal range of appeal. Besides, have you ever tried to genetically cross a banana with a gooseberry? Science! Evil, evil science!
*checks regions*
Gooseberry with a rambutan?
Personally, the nastiest reactions I get tend to be from pureblood Asians.

Try gooseberry with durian.Guaranteed to be banned from any Asian eatery or hotel warning tourists not to bring it inside the premises.

I wonder if the purple part tastes like eggplant or like grape?
"RE: With one picture"

Neither, I'll bet it tastes just like purple!

It's still an Oreo. It tastes like Elmer's Glue coated in baking soda toothpaste.

Like anyone who is really addicted to those divinely delectable dusky disks is going to be satisfied by an Oreo copycat cookie. Most of these would be boycotters are simply going to take their now 'nasty habit' underground.
Instead of being able to unashamedly purchase their Oreos in the open light of day, they have doomed themselves to a life of shame forever seeking the biscuit that dare speak its name....
... Driving out to the airport in the wee hours of the night...
... Shambling along the corridors to the public washrooms...
... Trembling at the thought of getting a sweet taste of the forbidden...
... Crouched in the stall in their 'widest stance' waiting, waiting...
... For the soft tap-tap-tap of the pusher's foot against their's...

I would actually like to encourage all of these people to not only boycott Oreo, but also every other company that supports gay rights. Like Facebook. And Google.
And Apple and Microsoft and Yahoo! and Cisco and HP and IBM and Sun and Intel and most other software, technology and communications companies.
(Then they'll all disappear from the internet. Win-win.)
Cake Haiku. Motion by Snidget/Shrunken down by Moonbaby/Ice Cat legal-sized.
Not to mention all of the food, clothing and transportation choices which they'll have to forego.

Let's just have them boycott all technology created by homosexuals. Then they can't even use computers to look up what they're supposed to be hating -- and thank you, Alan Turing. Come to think of it, this would send them back to their dream 50s in a hurry. Might be the 1050s...

When a society politicizes it's food, it's already starving.
"RE: With one picture"
Posted by frodis on 06-28-12 at 09:00 AM
Well, then we've been starving since the dawn of agriculture. Food is the very first thing to have been politicized back when civilizations were forming. Food is to blame for the rise of politics, architecture, culture, economics, organized religion, and pretty much everything else. Dang prehistoric Oreos.
However, when a society politicizes its lard-filled-fats, it clearly has nothing better to do. (Let's face it, Oreos aren't really food.)
"RE: With one picture"

And with the rise of agriculture came all those nasty disease epidemics.

A facebook page is not a boycott. Let's not get our undies in a wad...
"No..."
Posted by Estee on 06-28-12 at 12:49 PM
...it's a boycott in the slow process of forming. The awareness of just how ridiculous the whole thing is will not penetrate at any time. Awareness requires thinking. And remember, thinking is wrong. Only intellectual elitists think. And from all fresh evidence, eat Oreos.I don't eat Oreos.
Go figure.
Wait. Does going and figuring require thinking?

... go about boycotting the entire military?http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123307253
6/25/2012 - WASHINGTON (AFPS) -- The pursuit of equality is fundamental to the American story, Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta said in a video message released today to thank gay and lesbian service members and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civilians for their dedicated service to the nation.
Recognizing June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, the secretary also thanked the families of gay and lesbian service members and LGBT civilians.
Diversity is one of the department's greatest strengths, the secretary noted.
"During Pride Month, and every month, let us celebrate our rich diversity and renew our enduring commitment to equality for all," he said.

Of course, if the Toilet Papers get their way any time in the next few elections, that little celebration is going to be a one-and-only -- but look how far we've come. Probably temporarily, but gee, we at least thought about this stuff once.
Now who's going to thank and apologize to all those who were discharged?
You mean this isn't Christ's Army? Someone should have told the troops involved in those assault charges.

Google!Right. Google. They recently came publicly down on the pro-equality side with their Legalize Love campaign. Naturally, people are objecting. They're having a hard enough time keeping all the expressions of their hate legal and now someone wants to pass laws favoring love? Destroy!
http://www.mediaite.com/online/anti-gay-group-weighs-boycott-against-google-over-legalize-love-campaign/
Of course, there are certain problems involved in going up against Google. For starters, whenever someone searches for 'bigot', where do you think you're going to be in the listings? And if you're searching for people who feel the same way you do, what are you using, anyway?
You know what the poor oppressed pro-hate groups need? Their own search engine! Something which blocks out all homosexual terms, should be easy enough to program. Now all we need is a name. I think I'll call it 'AFAinine!'
If the hood fits.
Note that they did boycott Nabisco. Aren't they cute?
