The Ocotomom babies are 1 yr old; seems like only a month or so ago they were born; OTOH, it's been only 16 yrs since Nancy Kerrigan was attacked by Tonya Harding; that? seems more like 20 or more yrs ago.
What other things seem to be like "yesterday" but was really longer?
or what happened not so long ago that seems it was really much longer ago?

1980 -- was it really thirty years ago?

No kidding. It wasn't that long ago that we were all abuzz about the Orwell book, 1984. Heck, the buzz over Y2K is already a decade old.

I graduated from high school 20 years ago. There are days it seems like that was yesterday and other days it seems it was 40 years ago.

My kids! When did they grow up??? It seems like they were just toddlers now 19 and 26. Sure glad I didn't get any older.

Funny - I was just thinking the other day that 2 great nephews who are 13 now were just 3 when DH & I moved back home. It's hard to think of them as 3 yrs old! They're so grown now it's like they always have been!

Don't you find that you measure time by hold old your kids are? Sometimes I'll say something like, 'that happened when DS was 5 years old'.

I don't have kids of my own so I measure by my nieces and nephews; and when I'm feeling really old by my greats For example, my first niece was born the year I graduated high school. That doesn't seem so long ago until I realize how old she is now, and that she has 2 children; the oldest is 13!

After traveling so much of the world for most of my adult years, I'm now walking the same sidewalks I did as a college freshman almost 35 years ago.

You could have far worse fates than revisiting your alma mater's campus.

My retirement from work and moving to a much better rental than I had. Where have all the years gone? Not much seems like yesterday.
