Well, I didn't expect to get a picture this quickly, but my brother just stopped by with his digital camera so here she is, looking regal:

So let's hear suggestions! You named Stider's Turtle, now name the Canada Cat!

Winner will receive...uh...well... I'll thank you a lot and every else will be jealous of your talent for naming cats!

Well we have been calling her Canada Cat, so how about CeeCee ( get it? C.C.?)

Okay, I'll think of something else.

Buggy is a good cat name

I have always loved the name of one Canadian province...

Yukon!

It's easy to say, easy to yell loudly when she bothers you or wanders off, and sounds "cool" .

Well, how about Regal or CC (as in Canada Cat), or Minky (I had a cat, that looked like yours, named Minky).

Well, I did not say no, just found it an interesting name for a kitty cat. But you have succesfully explained your position

BTW Buggy, I did NOT copy you shortcake, you are just (as usual) to quick with that keyboard and beat me to the punch.

I still like CC though or Cee-Cee as Buggy spelled it.
Minky is still my favorite.

How about Princess or Ivory?

I'd suggest Bucky, but she looks much nicer than him. How does she feel about ferrets?

If you like Saturday Night Live, you could call her Toonces.

P.S. My late cat Calvin (his brother was named Hobbes) was commonly called C.C. (for Calvin Cat). He seemed to like being called C.C. better than he liked being called Calvin. So ... count me in the C.C. (or CeCe) camp.

Some famous cats:

Pyewacket is the name of the cat in Bell, Book, and Candle. She not only has lilac eyes, but she is the witch's familiar. Pye means stray so that might work for you.

Cat was Holly Golightly's cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's .. always a fine choice.

Or you could just memorialize our dear departed software and call her Napster

And there is always Kitt.

The first name that came to mind is Phantom.

I don't know if it is b/c of the lighting on the picture (I hope that this isn't one of those things that you will now notice everytime you see the cat if it isn't the lighting), but it looks like there is a patch of black that goes up the side of her nose and then down to her mouth and then around to her eye. I thought of the Phantom of the Opera mask.

Cute cat though.

Look at her... she really looks like she has a beard or something, so I nominate Beard to be her name.

Penelope thinks she should be called Vanilla because not only does she have a lot of white, but the darker colours can look like pure vanilla extract as well.

Wow, Canada Girl, she is gorgeous!

I had a friend whose cat was named C.C. She said it stood for Crazy Cat.

My own personal choice is Velvet, just because she looks so soft and touchable, or Blue Velvet, or just Blue for the color of her eyes (they look blue in the photo).

The funny thing about cats is that they don't usually come when you call their name. I read in a cat psychology book that cats will come when you call their name, but if you ever do something they don't like, such as, a flea bath or some other unpleasant cat torture - they will never come when you call their name again.

Knowing that, I always called them by their name if I wanted to give them something good, but just picked them up and carried them if it was time to do something they didn't like much. I have also found that they will come running when you shake the treat can.

Come on in, the water's fine!

"Dusty"
Posted by sittem on 09-10-02 at 10:26 PM
I don't have a reason - just what came to me immediately when I saw her lovely pic.

I just want you to know that I have terrible experience in naming animals. We had a stray cat show up at our door 13 years ago. The neighbor kids called her Fluffy (lots of fur), but when we decided to take her in it was on the condition that she never be called Fluffy in my presence. But, we never could decide on a name, hence she became Cat - or Kitty as an alternative. We had her for 10 years.

Then, along came a stray dog through my sis-in-law, the vet. A little Manchester Terrier with a lot of other mixed in. Her most striking feature when we got her was no real bark, just a nervous squeaking sound. So, we ended up call her Squeaker. Fortunately, she became an excellent watchdog and protection for sittek when she went out for dogs in our rough neighborhood. No one every messed with her as long as Squeaker was along.

So, based on our lousy record in naming animals, if I had your cat I'd call her Dusty in a second and be happy. But, that's just me.

Yeah, adoption really have little to do with your opinion. It's the eyes I tell you! *laughs*

I was working at a travelstore in Ohio and Gypsy was running around the truckers' parking lot. She kept following people inside so she could eat. One of the truckers was going to take her home if we could find a box for her to be put in. He changed his mind later, said she wouldn't fit (she was only 2 months old at the time *whatever*).

So, I packed the little girl up and took her to Indiana with me. She was supposed to get a bath and then go to the shelter, but she's been living at my house ever since. Yeah, and be careful of those magical vets--every time I took Gypsy to the vet she doubled in size. She is stabilized at 120#, but the last visit was just for her shots and it's been awhile. *laughs*

Your cat is White, with brown shading, so why not call her Toilet Paper, or TP for short?

Cute kitty! I love kitties, they're so... evil. We had a cat named Spazz for a while. Although he never got called that. We called him "Newman" most of the time, because he'd jump up on the bed and I'd have a very Seinfeld-esque "Hello, Newman" for him right before knocking him off.

Looks like a Koko to me tho.

Houston 19, Dallas 10!

We (my roomies and I) had a cat in college that looked like her. Our kitties name was Kazy Ann. Kazy because she was crazy and one of my roomies wanted to name her Ky (rhymes with pie) as in KY Jelly...we compromised with Kazy. Ann was her middle name because there were four girls that lived in the house and we all had the middle name Ann so our kitty had to have it too. It was a house rule that if you were female your middle name had to be Ann or Anne.

You've got a gorgeous kitty there CC and what a big heart you have for giving her a home.

I'm with the others that C.C. is a good name for her, however I have some suggestions of my own:

1. Mistofleas -- good cat name *hee hee* and I think I need to be represented in Canada

2. Slinky -- All cats kinda "slink" around and since their spines are all bendy and stuff...

3. Mistofleas -- see #1

4. Suki -- since she's obviously got some Siamese in her that would be a good name

5. Squeegie -- I just think it would be cool to yell for the cat with that name. "Hey Squee...get your little tail in here!"

6. Mistofleas -- See #1 & #3

& finally...

7. Sybil -- with all the great suggestions you may be calling the cat by many different names for a bit, testing them out...poor things gonna get multiple personalities!

There you have it. My suggestions for a beautiful kitty name.

I've changed my mind, CG, how about naming her Silvergirl.

"Sail on silver girl, sail on by

See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind

I feel prefectly free to make stereotypical comments aboot Canada being "icy" because even though I now live in Texas, I am and always will be a true Minnesotan. We're always getting flack for being buried under 10 tons of snow and ice, eating nothing but lutefske and thinking that a big night on the town is a basement supper at the town Luthern Church after spending the day icefishing!
