How long did it take you to reach 1,000, 5,000, 10,000+ posts? Are we talking about years invested to get there? I'm so curious. Please do tell.

Seabisquit, I don't know if you saw it, but there is a separate 9/11 Forum here:

As for DAW levels, OT is probably the forum in which to rack up posts the fastest. The people with mega-numbers all post on OT regularly. I started posting during the fall of 2002 and am still crawling toward 10,000, but that's because I post mostly on the spoiler board, which moves a lot slower.

I started on spoilers too during S7 but I lurked before then for a while...so that is Fall of 2003 and I just got to 6000 at the end of Survivor 12...at the urging of tribey I have my share of OT posts, just not lately

It took me nearly 3 years to get to 1K. At the current rate, it should only take me 2 years to get to 2K.

So at this rate, it should take me till 2014 to get to 5K. Eleven years. *sigh*

So hard to remember actual dates and I totally lack the ability to search the archives, but since I've been here since the end of S1 I guess it's taken about 5-6 years to get my count to where it is. But there was prolly about a 18 month hiatus in there as well.

Always great to have new blood though.

Since TV sucks, I thought I would wonder into OT. I haven't been here in ages and this thread caught my eye.

Well, it's been so long since I've posted that I don't even know how many DAWs I have -- I think it's a little over 1000. But as soon as I hit "Post Message" I'll know for sure. Anyway, I registered on Mon 7/9/2001 1:26 PM -- I still have the orginal email from Survivorblows. So it's taken me nearly FIVE years to get where I am. LOL

*shrug* I really dunno. I guess I've been here for what -- a little over a year? I usually forget to even notice what my DAW level is. Think I'm somewhere around 3000-something at the moment, but I'd have to look to know.

All I can tell you is that becomming a mini-mod for SO shot my numbers up far faster than would otherwise have happened - particularly in the early going.

Right now, I'm not that good at banter, and really don't know many well enough to banter with. (That can also increase post counts.) Maybe, that will change after the Niagara meet. But, it's not something I think much about.

About the same here... I started lurking the TAR boards about that time (late '04) and began posting on the TAR boards March '05. It's just over a year since my first OT post (about patriotism), and most of the 3K+ posts are on OT.

I've been around a long time- probably about 4 years and tend to lurk much (much) more than post, hence the relatively low numbers. I love the it here for the fun as well as the snark factor but also appreciate it when people wade into the deep end too. There are thoughtful, intelligent posts from both sides of the political aisle and I usually learn good stuff too!

I am always impressed with the quality of posts, information and silliness. They say laughing helps keep us healthy, so I come here for my dose of fun. Thank DOG for you people!

And I love all the crossthreading references. You people are sick! Buttballs, worms in your asses and more! LOL LOL No wonder I keep coming back to read more!

I really don't mean to suck up, but I truly lvoe it here.
This is such a haven in the world of internet crap. I would post more but often others have said it better, funnier, snarkier, and most always succincter! (<-- is that a word?)

So my DAW numbers are low, but when I post, it's often a novel.
Maybe I should break up my posts into multiple sections so as to bump that DAW level up faster? Hmmmmmmmm an idea perhaps...

That or just post about pooting, poutine or hairy toes! LOL

Just here to whine about the fact that no one noticed my invisible comments (or wanted to respond to them) above but then I know it's really my own fault. Invisible text is not something people expect and it is sort of 8th grade. Still, whenever I post on OT I think of IdiotCowboy (?) or maybe it was someone else, who always had some great little comment in invisible text in his post. I always felt like I was discovering some cool Easter Egg! Thus began my love of invisible text.

And I will never forget the awesome "Agatha"/AnotherKim prank done with invisible text. That was one of my all time favorites!

I shall endeavor to curb my enthusiasm! Or maybe do it till I get it out of my system. (Hmmm, that approach hasn't really helped me with other things though!)

Nevertheless, thought my little whining post might help pump up my pathetic DAW numbers!

I've been here since 02 or 03, Survivor lured me in. I forget which one. I lurked at first and told no one at home of this site. It took a long time for them to figure out how every week I knew who was getting the boot... On Tuesday! They eventually got wise and I lost some credibility, it was fun while it lasted. As you can tell from my posts, I do more reading than posting. I enjoy coming to OT and OTsports it's a great community.

I have become S I C K of Survivor.

Everything about it makes me gag. I've definately overdosed. These days the only reality television I watch are sports. I don't worry about my post count, I remember Tribe saying the same thing when his post count was about 1700 though mine is nowhere near that. When I have something tyo say... I say it.

I've been here since around August of 2003 (whenever Temptation Island 3 premiered.) So it's been almost 3 years...wow, I didn't realize I was averaging over 1,000 posts a year. My numbers will jump again in a few weeks when I'm on summer break.

I've been lurking on and off mostly on the Survivor board since the second season of Survivor (went looking for spoilers when the falling into the fire incident was coming up), but didn't post until I got DSL about a year and a half ago I think.

I had tried a couple of times to post on the dial up but for some reason my connection always timed out before the post would load.

Post count went up a lot when I wandered into OT.

I joined RTVW January 2005. It took me a about 14 months to get to 2000 posts. Post in OT, TAR, AI, Rock Star, and a few other places here and there. No SO for me though.

Carissa helped me bump up quite a bit during TARFE.

Tough one.

I started lurking during Survivor 5 when I was running the office pool and writing email summaries for those in the pool who either didn't watch or missed an episode. I found RTVW while searching for spoiler info for the summaries.

Kept lurking through Survivor 6 and 7 and finally registered during All-Stars, mainly because I had some not-very-important info about Amber. Didn't really discover OT until a bit later and didn't post much because I was so intimidated. But I have obviously become much more comfortable with that. LOL!

I found SBlows during Love Cruise. *waves to Shakes* I then registered in December '01. So it's taken me this long to get up to 1,900 and some odd posts. I would probably have a least 3 times more posts if I didn't hestitate on posting certain things or opinions. I type and erase, A LOT.

It upsets me cause all of my 3 quality posts were in the same thread and I only got credit for one.

It amuses me because if you look at some of these DAW's and multiply their count by, say 5/thread. That's a lot of yackin.

dragonflies is correct -- every single post is added into your total. If you have more than one post in a thread, the same total appears on each of the posts, but they've all been added in to the total.

Yes.

Also (and it took me awhile to figure this out) your DAW total in any given thread gets frozen at the time of the last post in that thread. For example, if you go back a few pages to a defunct thread you will see that your DAW total in that thread does not read 1735 but a lower number -- whatever it was at the time of the last post.

In other words, a thread has to keep getting updated in order for your DAW total to get updated.

Except for some reason all of the locked threads in the archive continually get updated to your current total. More Webby magic!

I've been on OT for almost exactly a year now. It took me about 3 months to hit a thousand post and 3 more to hit a thousand but since then it has taken me 6 months to add another 100 to my total. With me being out for the Summer, I suspect I'll hit 3 thousand sometime this Summer.

--I joined during Survivor Australia..about the same time as Nailbone. No idea the year anymore. Most of my posts are in OT, but I've also spread the love and wisdom in various show forums as time permitted. Lately I've been pretty much nonexistant online due to a plethora of boring reasons.

I think I registered around S3. I used to post more on Survivor but I accidently ticked someone off in a spoiler thread (I seem to either do that or just bore people with many of my posts). Since I decided to go spoiler free I avoid all Survivor boards and since classes kept me from watching TAR or Apprentice this season and I can't stand AI I pretty much only read and post on OT now.

I tend to go in cycles-post a few for a day or two then lurk for awhile. I may never get past 2000 at this rate.

Well, it was Jenna Morasca's win on Survivor 6 The Amazon that brought me out of the wood works.

Most of my posts have been through the Big Brother forums. There is something about the show being live and not taped that made the urge to post very strong.

In August it will be six years. I joined the same week Buggy did but I tend to take extended vacations. I was a member of the original survivorsucks board before it became an EZ board and saw a post from Dee Smith directing us to come here. It was quickly deleted but I saw it and came here. Never went back to post.

Also, I have the very first post in the Archives under my old name. I used to be Irisheyes.

I started posting in May of 2002. So it's taken me four years and one month to get this many posts, about 4-5 posts/day. I've slowed down somewhat in my postings though. I probably hit 5,000 posts a year ago, I think.
