That's what I want to know... why are they "panties" instead of panty? And if they are panties, then why isn't it panties-hose instead of pantyhose? And why are jeans, pants, and panties called a pair? There is only one item, so how can it be a pair?

Ok, I read the real answer in the article. Makes sense.

I'll add this, though. Nipples on the chest make hugs feel warmer, because it's an area that's sensitive to heat and touch. So, I might suggest that men were evolutionarily left (or created, for the creationists) with nipples so they'd be good huggers, too, right along with women. Everyone likes a good hug, adults and kids alike. Sounds silly? Makes sense to me, anyway.
