My wife and I missed episode 1 because of President Bush's speech (we us a DVR). Does anyone know where I could download an episode or where (or from whom) I could get my hands on a VHS tape of it?

I can't help you with the copy. FWIW, you didn't miss anything in E1 that will effect your understanding of following episodes. Anna didn't even meet the Joes till 30 minutes into the show. And then the only interaction she had was the gang social, then she cut 5 or 6 guys.
