"How will it end?"

How do you think Matt will react when he discovers the truth? First, I think he will get a significant paycheck which will make him feel better. I think he'll be more amazed and in shock than upset. I don't think he will get too mad or sad because:

1. The cameras are on and he will try his best to remain cool
2. By the end, almost everyone is gone--so he's not as attached to them as he was when he lived with them. Look how quickly he got over losing the old fart.
3. He's mostly concerned about fame and fortune--as long as he will be on tv and getting paid he'll be okay with it.--even if he is the "Schmo". Does anyone doubt that he will capitalize on all his publicity?

So in the final analysis I picture him being shocked, laughing nervously, then staring blankly into space trying to comprehend everything, next he realizes he will be rich and famous for a while and smiles like a Schmo. The End. I love this show.

Boy, I can't imagine how he'll react. I've tried to ponder what my own response would be and have a hard time even imagining what he'll be hit with. I don't know how popular he'll wind up being, but maybe they could give him a spot somewhere on the network (if he'll take it). You know those 'dinner and a movie' folks...I could see matt doing something like that. Of course, he seems most groomed for The Man Show. Ugh.

Don't you think if this reality show experiment goes well, there will be more of these elaborate prank shows to come? And if it goes bad, this will be the last? I mean if Matt is significantly hurt in any way this is the last show of it's kind--who will enjoy watching someone be intentionally hurt? Pain is just not funny.

Do you think that Joe Schmo, and maybe Millionaire, will cause other new shows to experience trust issues? If you don't think so, I don't see why there would be a problem creating a new Schmo. Create a new fake show, and maybe use a new production company (or front name). Just a couple thoughts out of my rain-soaked mind.

Probably. Matt seems to be faring well psychologically. I think they will do a jury double elimination and Matt will end up 'winning'. I don't know what they will base Brian's elimination on, as he's been pretty neutral - the buddy. It must go for one more episode beyond the next one because of Ashleigh's elimination hasn't been shown yet.

Matt's reaction will probably be typical - ohh yooouuu guys! That kind of thing. He probably didn't get really upset until he saw the promos and how stupid they made him look.

I'll bet that:

1. They will have all the actors back for the final scene.
2. Joe will be mentally blown away and look shell-shocked.
3. He will just stand up and walk out.
4. They will follow him with the cameras... he will just demand that he wants to get the hell out of there.
5. They will show him waiting for a car just looking shell-schoked while he mentally goes over everything... he will ask a question or two, but then just get into a car and go away...

Big anti-climax... scenes of regret from the actors... soul-searching etc... basically the producers worst nightmares.

Why do I think so? Because other networks didn't pick it up. Its a great concept, a great show, the concept lets it be tacky, the only reason for NBC/ABC/CBS not to want it is that the ending sucks!

"Why do I think so? Because other networks didn't pick it up."

I'd been under the impression that the show had been bought before they taped it, as most shows only film a pilot episode to shop around until a network finances the rest of the series. (I wonder if they shot a pilot episode with another actor pretending to be The Schmo? Hmmmm.. That'd be interesting.) On tonight's episode, they specificly mention Spike TV, so the reasons the Big Three didn't pick it up wouldn't have involved the ending of the series.

Still, great theory. Maybe the Big Three did suspect that sort of ending would happen. It's deffinitly a risky idea, considering all the costs involved in producing it and not knowing if the buyer will be able to air it.

Matt will probably get that bug-eyed look and not believe it at first. Then it will depend if they are giving him the $100,000 for winning. That could make him happy enough that he will laugh it off. Plus he did get to be "the star" and he may feel happy about that. Or he may be humiliated and angry at all of them and walk out.

"RE: How will it end?"

I think he will probably stand there for a few moments, trying to comprehend everything, then he will either laugh at such a great "joke" being played on him and think a friend set him up, or he will be incredibly hurt and upset, and walk off doing his best to avoid the cameras

They'll (the actors and producers) will do their best to cushion the blow.

Matt's going to be REALLY shocked, no doubt about it. He'll just stand there, shaking his head, his bugging eyes filling up with tears as they explain it to him.

Each actor will introduce their REAL selves.
They'll each say what a wonderful guy Matt is, how difficult it was for them to do what they had to do, and how that the last thing they wanted to do was hurt him.

They'll sit Matt down, and show him some video tape of the process. Behind the scenes stuff, the actors rehearsals, close-calls, and when planned "scenes" went a way they hadn't expected.

Finally, they'll ask Matt if he wants to ask them anything. The first thing he'll ask is "IS THE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS REAL!?" it is of course, and they give it to him. Along with the trip he gave to Dr. Pat, and his large screen TV

He's not really hurt by the whole experience, but is sad that some of the friends he made are really pretend friends. He says he looks forward to meeting the REAL people behind the characters and getting to know them now.
He's told that he WILL get that chance, because the actors will spend the next few days with Matt in his new home.
It is at this point that Matt is told that the lap of luxury house is now, HIS HOUSE.

Hard to get mad given that outcome.

Matt does a solo interview to wrap up the series giving his final thoughts about his experience, having been duped, and given the title of "Joe Schmo"
Smiling all the way to the bank

Of course, this is just my guess.

I'm sure Stanley will still be out there doing his thing, and if senses his name will give things away, he'll work around that.

I agree that they wont give him the house. I think they will probably use it for some other show, I've heard that there is a rather cruel one coming out involving a mansion..

Like he told Ashleigh when she had reservations about kissing Molly: "Welcome to television".

If he really does feel that way, then I can see him taking it rather well....(of course it's always easier when the joke is on someone else...)

I think he felt that way because he got to see two girls he thinks are hot kiss eachother.. He was so ready to go talk to them about taking their tops off until Ralph stepped in and mentioned kissing..But he looked rather ticked off through the whole ordeal. and yep, its always easier when the jokes on someone else but... The joke on Matt is pretty big.. and since they made him look like an idiot a few times, he might not take it too well..

As soon as the fake TV exec asked Matt to ask the girls to kiss/strip, the fake exec became a pansy/fall guy for the producer. As soon as Matt asked the girls to either kiss or strip, he became a pimp. As soon as the girls agreed, they became prostitutes. As soon as the rest of them watched, they became brothel customers. I wonder if they realize that? It's not like this is an art film or something.

I don't think they realized it to the extent that you described it. "Hey, lets get ratings! topless chicks, or kissing chicks, that'll really boost things up for us!"

Welcome to the bawdy-house of luxury!

But atleast they gave Matt an opportunity that will probably never again be available to him.. Asking two girls he finds attractive to take off their tops or kiss without seeming like a pervert..

My mother said something like that, I'm really not so sure about that... He doesn't really have the career, home and money to make the current female dating population happy. Remember, you are forgetting our world has sadly turned materialistic. Yes I know you will say he will get money from the show, but it wont be a constant income.

Plus, he isn't THAT famous from this show... And is he really the kind of guy who would want to be with someone who only likes him because he was on a TV show where he was played for a fool?
Yeah, many people love him from his personality, but you forget.. There are many shallow women out there who will just use him for his supposed money from the show.

I really don't think he will 'get all the women he wants'

For a minute there I was totally into your fantasy and nodding my head, thinking, in the immortal words of Austin Powers, "yeah baby". Then I remembered it was only a theory and was kinda dissappointed that it was ONLY a theory. I'd like to see it played out that way myself. From surfing other sites and listening to the interviews on www.96x.ca it seems we won't be dissappointed in the ending.
