Would anyone want to write summaries of this parody?

I taped E1, so I'll get to work on that one. I hope to have it posted this weekend.

with this show, they practically write themselves. I'll do one and it won't make me as angry and homicidal as trying to summarize the brain dead on Paradise Hotel did.

I've done one for E1, kinda... it's in the first Joe Schmmoooo thresd.

Draco's summary was excellent..I'd vote for letting it become official.

I just read it, thanks for that. It must have taken forever to write. Is it really true, they filmed this for a whole year? You'd be a complete vegetable at the end.

I've seen the web site..... a family/couples therapist with three divorces? Where do they find these people. Aaaaarrrrgh!

You know that she, as well as everyone else on that show (except for Joe Shmoe, Matt) is fake - a made-up character, right?

Yes, I knew they were so-called actors there to pull a spoof, but I didn't know (at the time of the above post) that they made up their bios as well. Stupid to make up their past, they could have had more mind games (since that's what they want) if they didn't do that as the players would have had to deal with personal jabs (in and out of the confessional) just as much as Matt does/did. They deserve a taste of their own.... sounds like a Schmo 2 to me.

Kewl, kewl, kewl...sign me up for a later episode.

(off to read what I know must be a funny summary, since it came from Draco)

Draco already did a good "half-assed" summary of the two hour premiere. Do you not want to use that?

I would be happy to do one as well.

Sorry, Draco, I hadn't seen your summary. Nice work! I titled it and reposted it in a new thread, with a link at the bottom to your original post.

OK, summaries so far:

E1: Draco
E2: Bebo
E3: Bucky Katt
E4: Lisapooh

Oh, and let me know if any of you want to write more than one.

Looking forward to doing justice to #2...and, since I am a summary whore, I will gladly come to bat again if you don't get enough takers to fill all of the summary slots. Just let me know, hon.

maybe i'm biting off more than I can chew with 2 summaries already this season, but this one looks fun
I'll take ep. 5, if there aren't enough people to fill the schedule (I see dekko has claimed one too, so 6 or 7 is fine with me also, I think)

"RE: Summaries?"
Posted by dekko on 09-05-03 at 06:21 PM
I'll take an episode if one is left unclaimed. I'd forgotten how much fun writing these things are.

I'd love to do a summary of this show. The first episode had me in stitches.

Pooh's right. These summaries will write themselves.

i'd gladly give my spot to Fester and take a reserve position.

"Schedule update"
Posted by AyaK on 09-09-03 at 06:08 PM
I don't know how many episodes this travesty will run for, but ... here's the schedule of summaries so far:

E1: Draco
E2: Bebo
E3: Bucky Katt
E4: Lisapooh
E5: I_AM_HE
E6: FesterFan1
E7: AMAI
E8: dekko

Let me know if there are any conflicts with these dates.

Out of curiosity, how does one qualify to write an episode summary?

There is a rigorous, strict audition and screening process.

First, you sign up. Then you are given an episode to summarize if one is available.

Seriously, that's it - all you have to do is volunteer and you are pretty much in. The only exceptions that I know of are that to be assigned an episode of Survivor or Amazing Race you have to have done a summary for another show first.

Our benevolent dictator AyaK could probably explain it better - he's got that whole random number generator thingee and stuff but that is beyond me.

No, I couldn't explain it better -- that's it, except that for the three shows where we have more wannabe writers than writing slots (Survivor, The Amazing Race and The Mole), we set a deadline for signing up and then randomly select the summarizers from everyone who signed up.

That's a strange system. In the Paradise Hotel forum, they chase the unsuspecting victim into a corner, give them a "pink belly" and then hold their loved ones hostage until the summary is completed.

At least that's what happened to me before I wrote the 9/17 summary.

woah - pink belly treatment! That is harsh! The only thing that happened to me after my Paradise Hotel summary was being called a very angry person and a whore.

Oh yeah, and no one liked my song parody on that one either. It's not easy working chlamydia into a Jimmy Buffet classic - you'd think people would be more appreciative of shit like that.

edited because it turns out she called me a whore and not a slut. A subtle difference, but an important one.

Lisapooh -

I remember your excellent parody and I'm sorry that anyone would hurl any expletives at the House of Pooh. Although they are certainly not under my control, I apologize on behalf of any coarse posters on the P-HO boards. Summarians and Satire-istas should be embraced, fondled gently and supported, not bashed.

And to Guppin1234 - once our crack "Gender Confirmation Team" has gotten to the bottom of your bottom, I'll get back to you. Meanwhile, I will continue to do my usual 500 tongue push-ups a day.

Ending this before my off-color remarks truly shame the House of Dice. (it's too late, isn't it?)

You have already been warned once not to attack posters personally, so you better watch what you post in the future if you don't want to be banned.

And posters on the forum need not be concerned about tracking down the summary writers each week. The forum moderators handle any necessary communications with the writers privately. Since vigilantism is clearly against the forum guidelines, it's not just a suggestion to leave it to the moderators.

Edited to add: Just as we suggest newer posts read for awhile before starting posts, I also suggest that newer posters not try to tell a poster with over 5,000 posts about deadlines. That total implies that she's been around long enough to know more about the way things are done.
