"BUT...."

Oh these JS2 guys managed to skewer so many reality show cliches this season, but there was one that was SO common that I was no longer consciously aware of it.

Just the night before, while I listened to Rachel giving her final speeches to her final two suitors on "For Love Or Money", I was quite aware that only ONE word in the speech counted, and if you heard that word, then the guy she was talking to was toast. We all listen for it. And of course that word is "BUT..."

You know, "I knew the instant I saw you that you were the only one in the world for me and that I couldn't possibly love anyone else... BUT... David has better hair."

Or whatever.

Anyway, Austin and Piper's speeches with their whole chain of "BUT's" and promises of eternal love back and forth between the two candidates - it was BRILLIANT. It skewered the absurdity of the cliche right up the middle and out the whazoo! Fantastic job by the writers, and I don't see how any real dating show could ever have the bachelor or bachelorette use the word "but" again in a final speech and not have their audience crack up. Not to mention the suitors. Maybe this will actually help change the way these ridiculous - and ridiculously cruel - rejections are dealt out.

Listening to Piper and Austin's final speeches were absolutely hilarious. I was laughing so hard.
