"Extra! Extra! Matt gets a whole page in People Magazine!"

Hey SchmoMates:

Matt Gould got a whole page devoted to him in People Magazine as reported on another thread.

Photo entitled Man of the Moment: Matt with a worried look on his face while holding out his right hand, palms out, toward the camera as if to say "No pictures please!" Also included in the photo are two photographers spoofing themselves, and they are within inches, yes inches of Matt. It looks as though one is taking a picture of Matt's nose hairs and the other one is taking a picture of the pores in his skin just around his adam's apple. You can't buy this kind of publicity!

Comment inset in the photo: "From second one I never questioned things," says Gould - then they show a smaller pic of everyone in robes after the it's-not-my-underwear show.

"Article entitled: I Am Joe Schmo

Matt Gould got stung on the fake reality show Joe Schmo - but won viewers' hearts.

At 28, Pittsburge resident Matt Kennedy Gould wasn't exactly going places. He'd delivered pizzas, dropped out of law school, was living with the folks. Yet he knew there must be more to life. It was called reality TV, "I watched Survivor, Road Rules - that's the best, all the drama and good-looking girls," says Gould. "I always thought I'd be great on a reality show."

Dude was right, sort of. Thanks to Spike TVs Joe Schmo, which concludes its eight-week run Oct 28th, he's the unwitting star of an elaborate reality TV parody. Gould thought he was spending 14 days in an LA mansion on a reality show called The Lap of Luxury, vying with eight other contestants for $100k. What he wasn't told was that the other housemates were actors and the show was actually a cross between The Truman Show and Big Brother. Once taping started in June, the actors realized that Gould - goggle-eyed when required to participate in such outrageous "challenges" as "Hands on the High-Priced Hooker' was a special soul. "He's so charmingly naive," says series writer Brian Keith Etheridge, 35, who played a housemate. When Gould sobbed during a Survivoresque eviction ceremony, "My heart dropped," says Etherridge.

The finale will reveal whether Gould ever caught on. Punked or not, "I love the show," he says. "Now I'm just hoping to make the most of this. It's not like I have to be famous. I just want a job where I don't have to go to an office or vote off co-workers." - People Magazine"

He loved the show? He must have taken it pretty well, then...

It looks like I'll have to buy a copy of People next month!

Yeah, it looks that way.

He says he wants a job where he doesn't have to go to an office. I wonder what ever possessed him to try law then?

You can tell he's not that motivated and easy to please, almost too laid back... he says he liked Road Rules because of the drama and the babes.

Why wait until next 'month' to buy a People? It's a weekly rag. Just curious.

I loved that he said he wanted a job where he didn't have to vote off his co-workers. LMAO!

You're right, he is really laid back. I think that's what I like about him. He's just very good-natured about everything. I just can't imagine him getting too pissed off about the whole deception thing. Even if he is hurt by it, he'll probably let it just roll right off.

Sentence first. Verdict afterwards.

Yep, I agree with that. I wish I had my scanner hooked up, in the pic, he actually looks happy, like he's having fun!

Thanks Guppi for the fine reporting. Wher in OT was it posted in case this "Molly" can't find it and what issue of people (date)?. This post is worthy of a quote for you....

....it sounds like an analogy Kip would use.... what's a sundial in the shade -- I pull you pants dawn riight now!

Anyway,

It's the new People with Elizabeth Smart on the cover Nov 3, 03.

And I saw that post, I know I did about the other poster seeing the article in People, did a search, and now I can't find it. I was going to add a post to refer to this post for the full article. (think I said 'post' enough?)

I figured, well, if he has it, why not share? I would. Then this morning I saw the cover and had to buy it, then there was Matt staring back at me.

Regarding your post Guppi, no I don't believe you said post enough. But I am wondering if you meant post as a noun or post as a verb (or is it adjective or adverb--I forget-it's late).

In any event---Awesome and thank you again, I will run out and buy it tomorrow since my subscription ran out a couple weeks ago and I have been too busy on these boards to bother renewing (drat!)

Well.. in this forum, sometimes post is a four-letter word.

My former posts: Probably adjectives/adverbs to my current posts
My present posts: Four-letter nouns
My future posts: Adjectives to my four-letter nouns

the new People to which you allude. The newest one here is Oct. 27 Guess I'll have to wait another week. I live on an island where getting anything early is unheard of. The phrase they use is "not late, we're on Hawaiian time"

Oh well.

Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
