I wonder how many even knew what an abacus is? Several had trouble pronouncing the word.

That's probably why so many teams walked past the woman -- they didn't know what an abacus is. I've heard of it but my memory is a bit vague on it, so I think I would have asked someone what an abacus looks like first if I'd been on the Race.

I was kind of annoyed that it seemed like it was the people who didn't know what an abacus was that got the unsolicited help from the random passers by, while the others were left to struggle. I don't think the ending would have been so close otherwise.

Am I wrong?Bright red dress, bright red sun shade. Would not that catch your eye on that big open space?

It would catch mine. Since red & yellow are always the colors used on the Race, I would always be looking out for those colors.
