A new season of The Amazing Race is upon us. Time to play Max Headroom's favourite game.

What is this “Be the Amazing Racer” game, you ask? Well, it's a role-playing game invented by the lovely and talented Angelfood some years ago. You sign up to “speak” as one of the contestants.

Here is the current Survivor version.

Here is the current Big Brother version.

Be funny, be snarky. Bash ‘til your little heart’s content. No-one wins at the end, so there’s no competition. Do you think you know what was going on in a racer’s head when say, he raced to Phil wearing no shoes? Or when she broke down and cried in a fish market? Post it here!

RULES

1. Casting: Sign up for a Character from the show to speak for/represent (reply below). One spot per character - first come basis. You may not be someone already taken or reserved. I try to be fair and work it out if there is a problem.

2. Please post at least once a week/episode, at least until your team is eliminated, after that - optional, you may still add comments. If you're going be out just send me a PM. If you miss 2 weeks without notice, I will have to reassign the character.

3. Sign the bottom of EVERY post you write with your Racer’s name or picture. Characters are difficult to keep track of. I will make up sig pics.

4. Speak as your character would speak, and speak for them. Share your character's inner thoughts about what happened in the episode, and what they think of the other Racers. Praise, tease or bash away. Be funny.

5. Have fun, this is not for SERIOUS bashing. Also, be careful not to post any big spoilers (like who is going). Don't bash other players personally.

6. If your character is eliminated, you get the privilege of writing your own "final remarks", so PLEASE DO. You are encouraged to continue to post from Sequesterville.

7. If your character wins, you win.... the coveted title of Be the Amazing Racer Winner and that is all.

8. Anyone not signed up as a character/Racer, is still invited to make comments about the characters or about posts, just please do not speak as a character - just be a cameraperson, taxi driver, menu item, etc.

By all means PM me if you have a question or whatever. Feel free to suggest your own tag line.

I originally considered taking on the personna of Kellie & Jamie's pom-poms, but then thought that I was risking yet another brief BTR experience.

So for this season, I'd like to be THE UBIQUITOUS NATIVE GREETER.

My siggie-slogan (again sending the out plea to our marvelous siggie-creators!) will be "Was that something Culturally Significant or just a Blur Out the Window?"

Cahaya:
I think this is Godwin. The video didn't help clarify. The guy in the picture there says the Race will give him and his brother a chance to shine, but he wants to shine a little brighter. I thought that suited you quite well.

zipperhead:
Sa'eed isn't as chatty as Bilal. In fact, Bilal went on for quite a quite a while in the CBS video and Sa'eed just sat there, completely expressionless. Like a stone. However, Bilal said he's a bit afraid of heights, so he'd need bit of help if they have to jump off things.

Molaholic:
A bunch of people in native costume.

Sahara:
I like these two. They're the kind of people you could have over for coffee and not worry that they were noticing every speck of dust. Lyn wasn't sure how to explain to her young children where she was going.

Max Headroom:
I like these two as well. They speak 4 languages between them, so that should come in handy.

dragonflies:
In their video, Rob would hesitate a bit when talking and then she'd talk over top of him until he stopped and just let her talk. I found that amusing, since she made a point of telling us how teams that don't respect each other don't win.

bystander:
She was the first one to say it, so she gets the classic dippy girl team statement:

I use the Windows Character Map. I get to it on my computer by clicking Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and Character Map. I suppose it's probably in the same place on most Windows computers. It brings up all kinds of characters, like things with umlauts, accents, hats, etc. You can even get fun little symbols like ۞.
There's probably some easier way to do it, but I don't know how.

Would you believe I didn't know that character map thing was there? I used a Mac at work for years, so when we got this PC, it took a bit of getting used to. It was so easy just to press apple / e and get é. Now I have to do the alt codes and I can never remember so I have to guess.

You make sure that Num Lock is on, then hold down the alt key while typing with the numeric keypad. For example:

alt + 0233 = é
alt + 0234 = ê
alt + 0225 = á
alt + 0224 = à

I've been so busy getting myself set up in Survivor, that I forgot all about TAR (my bad). So, are any contestants left?

If not, can I be the Stewardess? or to be more PC "Flight Attendant" (though I prefer Stewardess) Actually, I'll be "Kiki" the official TAR Stewardess . . .

Here you go! He says he's a coal miner a lot. I find it amusing that their names show up onscreen and underneath it doesn't say "Married" or "Married Parents" it says "Coalminer and Wife".

Hey, I played this over in the SO forum as the Garden Buddha, and it was really fun. I think I'm ready to move up to bigger and better 'Be the . . .' games. Can I be the other cheerleader? Unless someone gets a request up before I finish typing, then I'd be cool with the other half of Kentucky, Jason.
