"Questions for Annmarie"

Posted by realitybites on 07-28-03 at 03:08 PM
A small set until the next episode airs tomorrow. I may do some yelling, kicking, and screaming then, but it won't have anything to do with you (or Greg).

Moving on:

1. Do you watch the show as it airs on ESPN? If so, with whom - in a bar with random strangers, at home alone/with family/with friends, etc.?
2. Did you watch the first edition of Beg, Borrow & Deal? If so, who were your favorite and least favorite players?
3. If you won the prize, which championships would you like to attend?
4. Do you remember which cities and landmarks had cars available if your team got there first? We know about Atlanta and Centennial park, and you told us about D.C. What are the other three?

Of course it won't have anything to do with us
Ok, here are my answers:
1. I watch it as it airs, usually at a crowded loud bar and I watch the taped version immediately when I get home in my quiet little bedroom so I can really hear what went on/what was said. I like to crowd the places with friends usually, but there is always that group of strangers that feel the need to talk louder than the tv because we are interrupting thier happy hour! haha
2. I didn't watch the first season until after I realized I might be a contestant for the second. Thankfully it was still airing. I didn't watch it all thru but I would have wanted Bubba and Josh on my team for sure. I'm not sure if I would have meshed well with Aubrey, but I've been known to be wrong about those sort of things. Not anything bad towards her, I just think I worked well with someone like Kristen who for the most part, didn't complain and took charge and had a tough skin. She kept me strong thru times when I could have easily gone the other way.
Why? Who did you take a liking to?
3. I would be into the World Series, because the Yanks will make it this year. But other than that, I would just see what my loved ones would want to do and treat them.
4. Graceland had a car and I believe Denver. I apologize, I can't remember for sure! i'm so bad!

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Annmarie. As for the one you asked me, about BB&D Classic:

>Why? Who did you take a liking to?

Josh was by far my favorite player on either team. He had a sense of humor that was easy (for me, at least) to relate to, he wasn't a typically young-n-buff reality show contestant, and best of all, he knew how to lead people and get them to where they needed to go.

Juliet was quite the live wire, more fun to watch than to be teammates with.

Bubba and Kelli were the opposite - more fun to be teammates with than to watch. Both seemed like nice people.

I always felt sorry for Aubrey. She would have been a better fit on the other team. Instead she tried to lead, and no one was paying attention.

Tony was another one that was fun to watch. He was game for anything, at least when he wasn't complaining about food.

I don't have anything to say about either Julian or Katie.

I'll be watching tomorrow. Good luck to you.

That was sorta what I got out of Aubrey. She was emotional and it seemed unfortunately like she wasn't a good fit with her team. Thats why I didn't think she'd work well with me, because I think I was emotional alot of the time, so we'd get nowhere! Like Greg had mentioned in another topic, they are all great people, but not necessarily people you'd want on your team. But then again, I imagine certain people that would be good for the team wouldn't necessarily work well with me in real life! so it works both ways I guess!

First a comment. I felt your pain last night, as much as is possible without having been there. First, you get a new teammate that you don't really want and who may be even worse than the guy who left. And then you get stuck at a strip club where you really don't want to be. I hope things went better for you in the days that followed.

Just one question for you:

5. How close were you to quitting at that point?

"RE: One more"
Posted by shakes the clown on 07-30-03 at 11:44 AM
for a counter point we have my point of view.

AnnMarie, what's wrong with you? Its a friggen strip club..who cares??? You really need to lighten up and get over yourself if something like that actually bothers you.

Right then and there I could tell that you're just a boring, lame person who would be no fun to be around.

So far, you've really brought nothing to this show from an entertainment aspect....I wish you did quit.

Other than that, great job.

Honestly, I really had had it at that point. The Kerri thing, in just so many words, wasn't properly conveyed. It was no secret that I didn't like her. She was really loud and just seemed to be one of those people that I wouldn't naturally gravitate towards. She just irked me. But most of my frustration when she came aboard came from a feeling of betrayal. Even though we kicked off Eric, prior to that we had been strategizing and talking about potential tasks we could do and exchanging numbers and stuff like that...so I wasn't sure what ESPN had in store for us later...were they going to re-switch the teams again w/o telling us? Could I trust that Kerri would be able to cut the loyalty she had with Exodus and truly mesh with us? There was more to be concerned with other than the fact that I didn't personally like her. But in all honesty, I can't be a fake person. If I don't like someone, I can't just pretend I do. It took me a good 2 hours to be okay with the whole situation and to hear her out and to be upfront with her and say, look this is how we feel...what is going thru your mind? But by the next morning, I had no doubt in my mind that this was all going to be okay and she actually grew on me. She is actually more cute than annoying and she really has a great heart. And she makes me laugh like no one else, which was totally welcoming after the frustrations and weight Eric had put on the team. So it was over with by the time we got to Jacob's Field.
Now on to the strip club...
Picture this, We just complete a task...we are waiting outside, exhausted and in the cold, for a ride to Chicago - that ditched us -then we get a call from Exodus...another task completed...and finally when we find a ride, we are tricked into thinking we are just making a quick stop to get something to eat. So imagine my surprise when I realized where we were stopping and for how long.
You have to understand, we were constantly in game mode...our minds were going and going...and at that particular moment, I didn't think it was the best time for a little R&R... and no one told us we were going there so it looks like I am being difficult for nothing. I didn't see how it was productive at such a crucial point in the game. I would have rather got to the house we were trying to get to and done research on the internet for our next task instead of that. It was just a mess. So I felt like I was powerless in the whole decision making process and that my dedication to be in the game and give it my all was pointless. I didn't think Exodus was frolicking around. So yes, I really was two minutes away from leaving. It wasn't a game anymore. But Kerri convinced me to just stick it out and let Charles enjoy himself and we'll deal with everything later. I did want to see Chicago, but you know damn well I was going to pout until then! Thanks for letting me vent!
Annmarie

Hi Annmarie!! I'd like to say the show is great and that your a total cutie. I wish they hadn't moved it till midnightthough, being a fellow NY'er thats kind of late for me to stay up till. Anyway I was just wondering if you've developed a "celebrity status" at all? Do people recognize you at all from the show and do you get any perks. Also have you given any thought to a career as an analyst or commentator for ESPN, I think you would be great.

"RE: One more"

An analyst or commentator? I'm glad that my true extensive sports knowledge shines through - haha. Whoever you are, you have me laughing.
No perks, really. I've been recognized a few times but that's about it. But even if I go through the rest of my life w/o anyone knowing me from the show, it was still the best experience of my life so far. That's enough in itself. Can't speak for everyone else though. Cross your fingers about the Yanks/Anaheim game.
thanks!

Annmarie

"Week 5 questions for Annmarie"
Posted by realitybites on 08-06-03 at 11:32 AM
6. Did you encounter many people who had watched the first show? Did it help you get favors?

7. Did you know when you first started that there was going to be a competition between the teams? Did you know when and where at that time?

"RE: Week 5 questions for Annmarie"
Posted by NYGirl on 08-06-03 at 12:00 PM
Surprisingly I found that alot of people knew the show and even would approach us to ask if that was in fact what we were doing. But unfortunately, not everyone wanted to help. Sometimes when we desperately needed it, we would waste so much time w/ someone that just wanted to be on tv and would incessantly ask us questions to prolong the experience for them and woudln't help us at all. We would get so frustrated. But that was the worse end of the spectrum...as you can see, both teams struck gold here and there with some really great and giving people. Sandy was the sweetest in the world, as you can see from last nights show. The perfect mother!

As far as the competition b/t the teams, we honestly didn't know about it until we were on our way to Duke. It seems like it was common knowledge to everyone else, except the members of our team. I believe Exodus knew though. Had we known that, our direction would have gone differently I think. We weren't planning on hitting Chicago. They just told us that we had to be there on a certain day by a certain time or we would get penalized with time.

As always, thanks for the questions...

Annmarie

Alright who is this "shakes the clown" character...FYI bad name dude!?!!

Why is this guy busting on my girl?

PS Shakes----I forgot that the last time I saw you on TV you were totally interesting. Thank God that the charcter you played kept my attention the entire time and always made the right choices with all the right reactions!!! Whooo - you rock!!

When was that show on again...oh? never? hmmm, okay!

Hi Am. Greg.

Miss you guys!

The show last night was awesome, it get's better every episode! But I think the next episode is going to rad...if you know what I'm talking about!

What do you think about how they put together the whole team competition?

"RE: Thanks"
Posted by NYGirl on 08-07-03 at 12:22 PM
DUUUUUDE!
Hey Chica, thanks for getting my back. That clown guy tests my restraints...but like you suggested, it's easier to be painfully vocal and judge a person on the outside while safe in the dark of your 4 wall hole.
Anyway, I thought last week's show was by far the best. And I cannot wait until next week! You would think b/c we were in it, we wouldn't get so excited, but it's always interesting to see how they chop it up and to see things we did/said that I forgot about! I wish they would have showed the whole team competition...not just the 2 times Exodus whipped our butts...i think the whole Eric/Trivia thing would have been rather entertaining...
They can say what they want b/c they beat us and got the subaru, but dude, we still got hooked up with a limo ...and it's apparent that them having the subaru didn't help them get 2 over us. So...
minor victory for us Also, the look on Greg's face when we scored a task at Marquette...PRICELESS (still got nuthin' but love for ya Greg!- but you have to admit, it was classic!)
Anyway, K, thanks for dropping in. You'll have to give me the details on Mr. Jeter next time we socialize. PTFO.

Hey sistas (and anyone else who cares to read this)

The head to head thing was BRUTAL. It looked thrown together...remember when we were sitting and waiting outside the facillity? It seemed like utter disarray then too. Trivia was classic funny...Eric couldn't remember anything, and Kerri thught I lived in Marquette (which happens to be city in northern Michigan)

It appeared to me as if they made the show, and after it was complete, someone realized, "holy s**t, we forgot the head to head footage!" and they had to find a way to sneak it in.

It didn't even show team interaction - like when AnnMarie and I were doing the River Dance on the Bulls logo...or when Charles and I were lobbing the pickles from our tasty Big Macs into the back of the Subaru Baja.

As a whole - the episode was good, but the head-to-head was lacking.

nuttin' but love for the both of you

greg

He's a Reality Show vet himself, and YES he kept my attention alot better then "your girl."

At least Shakes spent some time reading the forums he posts on and doesn't make asinie statements like you just did.

PS - Shakes, Whooo - you do rock!!

>Alright who is this "shakes the clown" character...FYI bad name dude!?!!

Hi, Kristin. Nice to have you here. shakes doesn't need me to defend him, but I'll help prevent you from getting laughed at by other posters for your comment.

"shakes the clown" (remember the Bobcat Goldthwait movie of the same name? No? Well, read this summary) was a reality TV contestant who joined this board "undercover" before his show aired, to help plug it. Then he stayed.

The show was Fox's Love Cruise, which was produced by Bunim-Murray Productions (Real World, Road Rules) in 2000, right after the first Survivor aired, and shakes turned out to be Michael, aka "The Chessmaster," who masterminded the ChiTown alliance and engineered everyone getting booted off the boat, including two former alliance members who tried to double-cross him. Here's his bio from the show, which aired in Sept. and Oct. 2001.

Unfortunately, the debut episode of Love Cruise was scheduled to air on 9/11/01 -- and it never recovered from all of the schedule changes resulting from the terrorist attack. Michael, however, was the show's focal point.

>PS Shakes----I forgot that the last time I saw you on
>TV you were totally interesting.

Yeah, he was. TV Guide said that he was the most interesting character to have appeared on reality TV since Richard Hatch.

So now you know.

8. Did your team pass by Team Exodus on your way out of the Bears' practice facility? If so, what did you guys say to each other?
9. Why oh why did you go back to Wrigley Field for more punishment?
