"The Boston Auditions"

I went to the Boston finals show. What I saw was the selection of 3 comedians that was NOT based at all on performance. The crowd gave many applause breaks to one comedian that was not selected and few nervous laughs to at least one that was. The table I sat at, all selected their favorite comedian as one that was not chosen. Hey why wait out in the cold for 3 hours, if your not really going to be looked at farely ?

We've been hearing a lot about the contestants being cast for type instead of talent: sounds like you were at one of the finals where it was borne out. Either that or We Know Not The Tastes Of The Judges.

Do you remember who your three finalists were, and who was doing the judging?

Welcome to the boards oceanlite3. I am not surprised by your post at all. Remember some of the ppl. who were on last year? IMHO, the only funny one was Dave Mordal. The rest were awful;esp. that guy who won.

I think I heard somewhere that Drew Carey and Brett Butler (two judges for the final selection show) have also complained their vote didn't mean much and NBC pretty much took the 10 they thought would be the best in the house, rather than taking the 10 best stand-up comics!

"Disclaimer"

At the end of the show they showed a disclaimer that read (trying to remember)Judges and NBC producers get to pick the finalists and that they used creative editing. I couldn't read what else it said.

The disclaimer also stated that they edited the performance order.

I'm new to the show, but that was one HECK of a disclaimer. I couldn't even read it all before the show ended. It looked like the transcript to the Happy Fun Ball routine.

I'm with you Ginger, I couldn't read the entire disclaimer in the split second it was on the screen. What it looked like to me was that the producers have predetermined the final 20 for the house and what we see means nothing.

WTG NBC, ruin another show.

I've seen Robert Kelly (who was at the NY auditions, I think) perform in Boston about 8 times and he's hysterical...I don't blame him for swearing at the camera when he didn't get picked...he deserves a chance, he's incredible..especially considering some of the others that made it through..

Thats the way all reality TV works. They take the people who they believe will contribute the most to the show. People who will cry easily and make asses of themselves for our viewing pleasure. They take clips from people and edit them to make things seem one way but in reality it never goes down as it's portrayed on TV. Reality TV is anything but reality, but sad to say I still find myself watching.
