Personally, I think that after all these years of Lost, the critics don't know how to handle the concept of a show which gives out backstory and answers questions during the first hour.
I thought it was too rushed: there was an assumption that we'd all rented the original and were filling in details from memory.

Yeah, my coworker said the same thing about it being rushed. Overall, I was not disappointed. I guess they had to set the groundwork for how the storyline will unfold.
I read that there are only going to be 4 episodes this season and it won't be back until March. How annoying.

I liked the premise of the show, so I'm going to give this a chance and see how the four episodes go. Hopefully the show will settle down into a nice pace and give the writers a chance to build upon the story.

We watched last night. They gave so much away that I felt like I was watching a movie that should be over in one more hour long episode.
Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica

I liked it mostly. Probably giving it a 7 on a scale from 1-10. What I did find jarring was that they were using the red painted "V" as a pro-Visitor tag instead of a symbol of the Resistance like the original. I'm not expecting a scene for scene remake or anything but I thought that a pretty important symbol from the original.
I also found it annoying that they called them the "V's".
I like the priest so far.
I was a huge fan of the original but had not seen it in a few years. Saw a couple of episodes earlier in the day on SyFy and was shocked at how good the original actually was. I always loved it but was thinking that was through my 12 year old eyes in 1983. Sure it was still cheesy and completely dated looking but the story actually holds up well. I don't think Anna will hold a candle to Diana.

The priest annoys me, but that's because to me, he represents the potential religious bigotry we'd get if aliens ever did show up in public. 'They're not mentioned in the Bible, therefore they're not part of the divine creation, therefore they don't have souls, therefore start shooting.' You know we'd get a significant number of people following that line of non-logic to the bitter end. In fact, the biggest stretch of the episode may have been the Vatican saying 'Come on down, kin!' Must have been those sleeper agents. But unless someone comes across with a great explanation in a hurry, Horrible SF Questions Of Our Time is about to get a new entry on the list: 'Why do aliens with superior technology need C4?' (We'll put it right under 'What does God need with a starship?') There's an argument to be made for 'the local tools don't arouse suspicion', but it went out the window once the floating no-facial-resolution assassination device showed up.
Said hovering plot device may have dropped a hint of sorts, though: the Visitors' normal mode of vision may work primarily by seeing heat.

Does this have rat eating aliens, too?
Will they be chased away by dropping red dust from hot air ballons? worst. show. ever.

Finally watched the first four episodes. I thought they were pretty good. I'm looking forward to the March restart.

Comments on the Season 2 premiere?I like the show. It doesn't take a lot of thinking, I'm familiar with the original series, and there are three hot women on it. Plus, they added the original Diana. SCORE!

I was glad to see 2 of the 3 deaths. Tyler was the lamest character on TV.Marc Singer was a nice surprise.
Hobbs is skeevy. Juliet dumped Sawyer for this guy?!

Hated that they killed off Diana just as they brought Marc Singer back.

They learned the lessons shown by the last season of BSG and first season of SGU...Keep the story arc moving!
V pretty much had a major plot development in every episode - even more so during the last half of the season.
TV execs have this irrational fear that you will lose viewership if you move the story along too fast as they think that people will not tune in if they lose track.
It's the exact opposite! Convince the viewers that every episode is going to provide a major piece of the story or a twist or a cliff hanger and your viewers will make every effort to keep up and your ratings will soar.
Bravo to V's producers who allowed the creative team to drive that narrative forward on every single episode!
