Yep: one model and the $25 case got the night off, so the odds of getting the million went up to an even 4%. (Not that it ever helps.) Three money cases were also swapped for ones containing coal, eggnog, and fruitcake. But Howie giving away the gifts was the joke of the night -- even more so than the way the game normally plays out. Admittedly, some of them were good gifts: I wouldn't have been complaining about being in that audience. But he had a bargain basement 'I am Oprah!' smirk on his face every time they passed something new out: ain't he generous? He's as generous as his game is stupid: how's that for a double-edged compliment? And since everything given out had a sponsor, none of this largesse hurt him financially...
Included on the gift list:
A talking Howie bobblehead doll (Whee!)
Two hundred dollars and a free pass to The Spiderwick Chronicles
A robot vacuum
A $100 gas card
New mobile phone
Bluetooth headset
Roundtrip ticket to anywhere JetBlue flies
I'm pretty sure the contestants didn't get any of it.
