It doesn't exactly take long to figure out who the director is...It'll take some fast scriptwriting to keep this from turning into the Monster Of The Week special, not to mention explaining why all these escapees keep showing up within Sam's operating range. (You can just hear the yell of 'Road Trip!') I'm willing to give them that pattern for a few episodes while our protagonist finds his bearings, but they've already said what the cycle is going to be -- which means it's already time to think about breaking it.
Some interesting casting here, and stronger performances than I was expecting from the leads (although you can pretty much dump the best friends in the toilet right now). F/X is going to be a problem as the series goes on: the CW is not the network you want to turn to when you need a big budget -- but Smallville seems to do well enough.
I'll be curious to see how much they dig into the psycological impact of Sam's life. Essentially, when you know you've been pre-damned, have absolutely no hope whatsoever for redemption, and it's no fault of your own -- what do you do? Are you free to commit whatever actions you wish? Do you just keep living by your moral code and call it a victory, despite the fact that said code will never ultimately save you?
Interesting. I'll be back next week.

The kids kept me from watching the whole episode, but the parts I saw made my glad I had the DVR running. I'm going to go back and watch the whole thing, because it looks promising.Ray Wise as the devil? Most excellent casting.

This is one that I wanted to see, but as it plays opposite of House, well......Hugh Laurie wins everytime. Of course, there's always the chance Reaper will be moved around, and around and around if the networks haven't changed much.

That's the joy of the DVR. Mr. B and I started watching House over the summer, so we set it to record so that we don't have to miss either show.

Love the DVR.They are replaying the pilot Thursday night at 9 pm. Most likely to entice some Supernatural and Smallville viewers to the show.

Loved it! This is my favorite of the new shows so far. There were many LOL moments-- throwing the bleach at his head (someone getting hit in the head or falling down will get a laugh out of me every time. I'm easy like that.) and sucking up the bad guys with a Dirt Devil and then taking them to the DMV, aka Hell on Earth. *snort* Also, waiting for the Dirt Devil to recharge. I wasn't expecting to like this show, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
One word: GOTHMOG!

Also, waiting for the Dirt Devil to recharge. To me, the 'supernatural tools don't take nine-volts' shot was the funniest thing in the entire episode. And besides, who wouldn't believe a Dirt Devil would need a full recharge after only five seconds of use?

You were supposed to move that with your mind.I'm already trying to figure out ways to squeeze that phrase into regular conversation.

I just finished watching the premiere and when my DW asked me what I thought I said it reminded me of Sean of the Dead. I was pleasantly suprised and will tune back in (have the second ep on DVR).

Another Arkie Masterpiece!

Anotother hit for me! This is the first show I have ever watched on CW or even knew about.
I loved that it was fast paced and not exactly convuluted. It was easy watching. Loved the physical comedy and the casting of the devil!
I never saw Buffy but the premise reminded me of it. Was the chick on Heroes?

For some reason the ad for this organization with this website http://www.leestokes.org/ seemed out of place during the show.

Finally watched it the other night with the whole family -
this is a definite Must Watch for us, we loved it!The fact that the DMV is the portal to hell...and us being from NJ, just about sent me to the hospital choking on whatever it was we were munching on that night
I think this is going to be one of those shows people will be slow to catch on to but hooked once they do.

Love this show... the main character Bret Harrison was Sam (too) in "The Loop" a very funny sitcom on Fox the last two summers. And I agree about friend. when b and I saw him...we both said "Jack Black wannabe"
Love Satan
The bug lady was great
And Andi-- she's Big Ben's gf in rl

I'm still loving this show. Last nights epi was hilarious."This better be one bad ass vessel."
*open ominous box to reveal tacky Christmas sweater*
I laughed and laughed for the rest of the show over that one. And when Sock was wrestling with the Senator guy and he's screaming at him, "Wear the Christmas sweater!"
That is my favorite part of the show; seeing what the vessel will be and trying to figure out how they will use it.
Um. Strike that.
I have a huge crush on Bret Harrison, so my actual favorite part of the show is the Shirtless Moment of the Week.
I am very curious as to what is going on with Sam's dad. I gasped when he ripped that page out of the contract and threw it in the fire. I knew he was up to something.

One word: GOTHMOG!

The Christmas sweater was hilarious, but the show in general has taken a gloomier turn. Sam needs something good to happen to him.Tell Andi about the deal with the devil, already.

Darn I was hoping that Leon could stick around...maybe he'll be a recurring character and keeps escaping for therapy...I love how the Devil hates Halloween

I love how the Devil hates HalloweenThat made me laugh as well. It reminded me of Buffy - where all the vamps and ghouls stayed home on Halloween.

Another Arkie Masterpiece! Is that woman talented or what?

"It's my toy, I'll break it if I want to." - The DevilThat line totally cracked me up! As did the dream sequence with Sock and Gladys the DMV Demon.
I like this show.

Am I the only one who watches this show?I thought last night's episode was the best this season. The Devil with a mistress? And treating her badly? I loved Sam's interaction with Mimi, telling her what to do even though he knew there might be "consequences" later. And just how long can it take to fix a washing machine?

I'm still watching - just got caught up with the episode you referenced and last weeks. So is Sam's new girlfriend the Devil's daughter? Appears she might be after seeing the goldfish die and the flowers wilt. I wish they would give more airtime to Missy.

Have yourself a very Agman Christmas!
