ok, this show has me! I was interested after the first one, but now I know for sure. The cast is amazing, and it has that magic all the time that something special is happening, that things fit together, and that the viewer can catch it if they pay attention.. i just love the show - there I said it. anybody else seeing this one? How'd you like it?

I watched the first eppisode. It was pretty good..More realistic than most shows that have some sort of religious basis to them. I guess I found it funny because its kind of a modern version of "Joan of Arc" I found it easy to pick up some of the clue my parents had missed, I had to point out to them the details of how I came to certain conclusions. Though I only saw one eppisode, I'd be glad to watch more of it if I get the chance to.

I agree! Terrific cast and story. I know what I'll be doing Friday nights at 8.

Yep, forget Miss Match. I'm going with Joan all the way. Sorry Alicia!

DW likes it, I'm kinda eh about it. I do like how God's so snarky all the time. Nice change from the lovey dovey God we always get on TV. Don't even get me started on shows like 7th Heaven and Touched by an Angel. *rolls eyes* I could really do without the effing Joan Osborne song tho.

What if God smoked cannabis?

I would watch this show and there is only one reason I am not. Amber Tamblyn. I can't stand her as an actress. I watched her on General Hospital and I couldn't stand her.

yeah. I agree about the song. you think they could have come up with something original - instead of the only top 10 song in the last 10 years that was about god. Maybe something Gabrielish...

I think this show is really sweet and easy to watch. I used to like 7th Heaven when it was more of a family show- but now I can't stand to watch it. Call me old-fashioned but I think this show is so refreshing. I don't think I ever even watched TV on Friday nights before- so CBS has won me over.

Another quality Ice Cat creation 2003

I was interested and saw much of the first two episodes. Then, week 3 we were out of town. Week 4 I taped, only to have the high rise fire in Chicago take over after the first 15 minutes - so only saw up to the boat building instruction and trip to boatyard.

What I've appreciated so far is the way small decisions and seemingly inconsequential choices have much broader implications in other peoples lives - rings true for me.

I love this show. I've been watching or taping it every week, and I'm not at all religious. I especially liked this last show (about the boat). And I love God's snippy attitude, too.

Sentence first. Verdict afterwards.

I agree! I like "Joan" specfically because it doesn't cater to a religious-only audience. The show isn't preachy or overly sentimental, and I really enjoy it despite it centering around their version of "God."

My favorite God so far has to be the lunch lady (was that the first episode?). "How come you didn't get the job?" she said with just the right amount of sass and attitude. Loved it!

I LOVE this show!!! I love the "snarky" God!! And my fave God is the old lady in the bookstore..."I don't *pop*, I *abide*".

Tonight was excellent. I love the fact that as the requests get stranger, Joan's trust is expanding. Most of all tonight, I liked that God told her what would have been, and exposed what her 'observation' of this boy actually accomplished. So hard to write this stuff into a script without hitting the audience over the head with it all, yet they do it.

goose bumps at the end.

You are right Ashley, it was good last night.

I like the fact that whatever Joan is dealing with in high school relates to what her Dad is dealing with in real life. Kinda makes you feel like you can make a difference.

that they always tie it together like that seems so simple, but it's really so hard to do without seeming contrived.

>Kinda makes you feel like you can make a difference.<

I know! and when's the last time we got that from tv. ?

i'm so impressed. *sigh*

Just adding my voice to say I am enjoying this program. I appreciate the concept and I DO believe that even our smallest choice in life can have tremendous impact down the road. God does work in mysterious ways.

Have to agree with Sittem, Ashlet and Trigirl. This is a quality show.

I was crying at the end with Joan (and had goosebumps too, Ashlet) and am truly amazed at how the message gets through without (again, echoing Ashlet) hitting us smack over the head with it.

Quality Quality Quality

this show better win awards, starting with the Golden Globes and ending with the Emmys. Yep! Quality stuff here.

Is anyone still watching this show? I am a Reality Show Geek. The only weekly series I watch is Joan. I love the cast and the great writing.

I continue to watch when I can fit it into the Friday night schedule - can't always do that. Overall I continue to find it interesting and encouraging. I'm glad to know there are others watching and I hope it'll be renewed.

I'm still watching it. It's one of the few series I watch as well.

Did anyone else think the finale was kinda freaky?

Hey TL, the finale was freaky!

My hubby and I were surprised that the previews looked so scary. The show def. ended on an intriguing note-- which is great because I wouldn't have suspected they'd go in for a cliff hanger, but Joan doubting God's existence will add a compelling twist to next season. I can't wait. Woo-hoo!

"final scene"
Posted by dabo on 05-24-04 at 02:24 PM
Way back in the olden days there was this daytime soap called Dark Shadows where ghosts and whatever kept coming into the storylines There was always a question about where they real ghosts or was someone imagining them. Then they had a scene with a ghost and there was no one else in the scene for it to be explained away as something someone had imagined.

Final scene Joan of Arcadia season one, God standing besides Joan's bed, everyone asleep.

I finally got to see this finale , and I was really touched by that final scene. It seemed to me that they were trying to show that even when Joan is doubting Him, God is still there with her, watching over her.

I am with you, this is about the only network series I watch since reality shows have become so popular.
