Keep all the filler, pimping, bus revving, silence of the judges, how many minutes over it really runs (already scheduled to run until 7 past the hour) and something I'm missing, *checks list* oh, sorry results, the actual purpose of the show on this thread until the West Coast awakens from their stupor and checks the interwebs to find out who won.
the whole voter pool was in a hot dense state(read that any way you like)
When Scotty wins, I think he'll have more of an uphill climb than he's personally expecting -- but if he keeps pushing for a few years, he might just get his career. It won't be immediate -- but the show may finally have another success story, as long as they're willing to help him work for it. And that, right there, is going to be the problem.
Should Nigel pull out half the phone lines and hand first place to Lauren, then I-Forgot-His-Name is going to lose the only record he holds: Least Premiere Sales By A Supposed Winner. The show will lose those last three atoms of credibility, all the talent will retreat to Simon in hopes of better treatment or at least a less blatant agenda, and William Hung will not only reapply next year, but thanks to the drained pool, he'll make it to the voting rounds.
Make or break. The producers are stupid enough to pick the wrong option.
the whole voter pool was in a hot dense statea. White dwarf star
b. Neutron star
c. Quasar
d. Galactic black hole
e. Dark matter
I find it interesting which parts of the entertainment media/on the street interviews have people think Lauren has won. But then again a lot of that may be based on people that watch at the end rather than follow the show. Most of the web/blog stuff seems to be pretty convinced Scotty won and nothing will change that, but some of the more TV coverage seems to be making it close if not a clear Lauren win. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out tomorrow.
The bookies are heavily skewed towards Scotty, 1/4, with Lauren at 5/2. If you're convinced Lauren wins, place your bets now!

LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 08:40 PM (EST)The birthday dinner was at this great place, and this is what I had. I sampled the "tacu tacu des pallares" which was wicked good as well for the lovers of swine in the crowd.
eta: to change swine lovers - it sounded wrong.
Some of the 'filler' looks to be surprisingly entertaining and I'm far more interested in this than in the AI result.

You may have just won.

It all comes down to you. This is your finally, and this is American Idol.
they hit the stage like a tornado!no, actually only storm coverage here; no AI
Stay safe.No storms here to rescue me from the show tonight.
Just had two tornado warnings here in the last half hour, one about 10 miles north and another about 10 miles south of here. Looks like it'll clear up a bit until about midnight when the next line rolls through.
Sheesh, another tornado siren blares! Third time tonight. This time about 10 miles north of here.I pity the AI advertisers. It's all going to the weather alerts.

Gaga's Born This Way, wonder if they'll include any of the gender and orientation lyrics.
Are they doing something weird with the mix so someone right in the camera is a lot louder than they should be?
OK, what's up with the extended crotch grab, Jacob?
He looks like he should be playing with the Village people. I think the guitarist just rolled his eyes at the camera.
Woo! That rocked! Love it.![]()
I was pleasantly surprised by that. Well done!
I'm here! I really loved the Judas Priest with James performance. I am sad he went when he did.
I immediately thought of the Village People also. Otherwise, I thought that was very cool.
I Smile.
And Gladys KnightMentioning the Tornado Victims in the song?
Bad wig Gladys.
Going to church after Judas Priest ~ sniggle.Didn't know Kirk Franklin did anything but posture. Gladys Knight looks Fab!
I'm a big Gladys fan from way, way back.Liked this performance, and in spite of the massive chorus supporting them, both Gladys and Jacob came out quite clearly in their vocals.
That song was kind of dying until Gladys came out and she really brought it all together. (Can't stop thinking how Jacob's suit makes his butt look big).
Fat Bottom Girls
Guilty pleasure.![]()
Excellent!
course that could be the sangria talking
Hah, actually, they could have done without those girls on stage. Too many posterior views.Fun and entertaining, meant more as a comedy act than a serious vocal performance.
Holy crapolla - that was FUN!!
How fun! This centuries Blues Brothers!
You totally read my mind on that score. I was thinking Blues Brothers too!
LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 08:35 PM (EST)Later we will have results and other stuff as Ryan stalls.
Promises the results before the DVR stops this year.
Single Ladies, Irreplaceable, Some Dance Song, If I were a boy, Another Dance Tune Deja Vu.
Beyonce comes up the same platform Lauren did last night. Crazy in Love.
LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 08:38 PM (EST)Is it wrong that I don't remember anyone except, Thea, Pia and Nod.
eta: I'm glad I bought tickets to this show. Beyonce (and say what you will about her) is a master class in pop performances Again, it may be the buzz.
This performance shows why the girls all went out one after another: boring and interchangeable (except for Naima - I wish she'd lasted longer because she was interesting!). Pia was rocking it - was she more relaxed now or did she just make bad song and clothing choices while on the show? The boys Top 13 revue was much more fun!
we;re on!
Welcome to the ECST stage, jbug!
Ok, I knew that Beyonce was going to pop up. Overall, I thought this medley o' pop this year was much better than prior years. I thought they all did a credible job.I'm going to cringe when they feature the boys, because I'll have to hear Paul sing something. Unless they get Rod Stewart. Paul can mimic Rod fairly well.
Not bad. You could tell right away what some of these gals (like Pia and Thia) should have been doing earlier, rather than the sappy ballads they performed.
word
I was surprised how good Ashton sounded. Almost like she's been getting coached since she was booted.
Didn't she just have a baby?
Beyonce is a great performer. Plus, where ever she goes, her hair blows just enough to look really good! She kind of has Jennifer's style, only more talent.

LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 08:46 PM (EST)Like it! I've always liked Tony's sound and swing, and he makes me smile when I watch him.
I've said that Haley is singing in the wrong era, and this duet proves it!
That? was amazeballs. I can't beleive she didn't make it to top two but I'm rather happy that she didn't.

Singing seems out of sync with the backing track for awhile.
I'm sorry, but you can't have TLC without the L.
RIP L.
What was an otherwise fairly decent performance is completely overshadowed by the previous performances.
I admit that was a bit awkward, particularly for T-Bonz with her health issues (don't know if she is recovering or in a recurrence).
I'm praying for you, girl!
Live Like You Are Dying.
OH MY GAWD!!!! I LOVE TIM MCGRAW!!!! ACK - *thud*
HELLO!I'm right there with ya. Tim McGraw is YUMMY!
Scotty could take a lesson - lose the plaid shirt, bulk up, slap a tight t-shirt on, finish with some thigh-huggin' jeans and call it a day. I know I'd call it a day*thud*
Snidge - can you give me a pillow room for tonight please?
You'd make a heckuva stylist. I like the way you think.
See Post 56.![]()
Better go get the pillows out of the DWTS forum.
Scotty should hope that he looks like Tim when his otherballone drops.OOPS, was that wrong? Claiming old and tipsy.
whack!
**double thud**
Pretty good duet, these two. Label worthy, although it didn't have that concert feel to it. Scotty's definitely in his element here.
This is exactly what Scotty should be doing. I thought this sounded good.
He hasn't said a bloody word this whole time until Tim and Scotty started singing and then he started asking me all kinds of stupid questions about the bills that came in the mail today.DH - Honey? Is the Water and Sewage bill set up on the computer or do we mail that in? Honey? Honey? I need to know.
Oh ya right, he needs to know right effing now2?? I pay the bills on the computer. I need to flick him in the forehead sometimes.

Was that Shiela E on percussion? I'm loving this finale!
I was wondering exactly the same thing. I love her - way back from her Prince days.
I really didn't need to see what J. Lo does to try to seduce her husband.

LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 09:13 PM (EST)I want them to do the Carlton dance.
And Jacob and Jack Black didn't disappoint me. ;)
But really, how cool would it have been for Carlton to take to the stairs of doom and do the dance while he decended? Really? How cool would that have been? I'm thinking, way cool.
Panties.Fall.Down.Still. Sir Tom Jones, ahhhh.
If I had to pick between doing Tom Jones or doing Steven Tyler, Tom would win.
Agreed! I saw Tom in concert 11 years ago and he looks better now. Can't really sing anymore, but who cares?
I like your style, girl.
It's a mood thing for me. Dirty Dancing or Breakfast at Tiffany's.
So retro!Heck, my mom and my aunt just adored this guy. And I'm already over the hill.
Not bad. He hasn't lost his touch. But I still like Tony Bennett better.

Clarence from the E Street band, he's good. Very good. But this Googoo Gaga act? *blech* (to each their own here, I guess)

That was awesome. I'm a fan o' Gaga.
She is a great entertainer, with a good voice, but the "dancing" that she did at the end with the male dancer seemed kind of provocative for all of the teeny boppers watching this show.
For all you SYTYCD fans - that was THE MARK from SYTYCD and AllStars on the rock with her.*hearts Mark

She needs more of that medicine from last night or needs to stay on vocal rest.

I wasn't a Carrie fan, but damn, she really is good.
Carrie has gotten so polished since she won. I sure hope Lauren hasn't already strained her voice.
The best fireworks in this performance was in the background.
Was again, Casey and James crack me up.

And with U2 added in.
Yes. And the first little landing Spidey took in the aisle looked like he was going to slam through the floorand into the basement.Who's the young kid singing? I'd hit that.
Probably the lead of the play, who I think was hurt previously...
Who's the young kid singing? I'd hit that.I'll wrestle ya' for firsts.
I could work with that.
I had the same question. His name is Reeve Carney.
Had tix for a performance, but it was cancelled. This may not help.
Liked this performance with Bono and U2. I still fondly remember him promoting Live 8 way back when.
Damn, son. Do you want me to die of alcohol poisoning?
Dream On.May he Scream better than Gokey.
He still has the chops. And the screams.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I can barely stand it. I feel oddly at peace now. I would light up a smoke but I quit over 10 years ago.
Wow, Steve. It was like God singing in the heavens, up in the stars and over the moon. Beautiful, just beautiful.

so the rain just started coming down really hard;
which means of course it messed up the satellite dish;
which means yes, 5 minutes to go & I get to miss the winner announcement
Aww crap!Well, we all lost, I think. I won't tell you until we know. I bet Ryan screws up again because I think we'll be past TiVo time soon. Bwahahahaha.
DVR says it is recording until 7 after,so as long as he finishes before then he's OK.
That's bad, right?
We're about to get hit with another line here, and every AI commercial has gone to the weatherman with all those red boxes on the map. I expect a siren to sound in a few minutes.
Doesn't matter who wins. Johnny-one-note Scotty, will have a country career anyway and Lauren will fade almost as fast as Taylor Hicks.
Interesting we didn't see Pia sing tonight, even though she was part of the Top 11. I guess she's obligated for the tour, but they didn't want her upstaging the F2, who svck compared to her.
Pia did sing tonight - just sayin'
More than once, too, as I recall. She looked pretty hot! As did Thia.
Lauren is standing nearest to Ryan, in a yellow fluffy confection. After the nationwide vote the winner of AI season 10 is.
Scotty McCreery.
Way to go, Scotty! And way to go, Ryan. You kept it short and succinct and none of this "after this break" business.
No surprise here, except for a rather entertaining show leading up to the announcement. Fine line up tonight.
The show still svcks... was better with Simon. The X-Factor will now wipe the floor with AI's a$$

Congrats Scotty!
Scotty said Lauren has been with him through this whole time and he's gonna keep her with him. That's a whole lotta love action going on there betwixt.
No surprise here, except for a rather entertaining show leading up to the announcement. Fine line up tonightI was surprised as I fully expected a Lauren win given the disgusting display I witnessed last night. However, it worked out okay.
As for the line-up tonight the two seasons prior had me totally "woohoo"ing and "omg"ing with the talent they attracted to the show.
But this was good, just not as mind-blowing as years past. Perhaps the absence of Bon Jovi, Slash and Barry has left me a little jaded.
Although Stevie filled in those blanks very nicely.
I REALLY enjoyed Scotty and Lauren. I am thrilled that Scotty won. I'm not really a fan of country music, but I am a fan of his voice.
CARRIE FARMGIRL
Thought this was one of the BEST Idol finales ever! What a great suprise line-up with Tom Jones, Sheila E, etc. And loved that the contestants got a shot at their own spaces. They were hilarious!! Really, seriously, Casey and James could be comedians in their own rights!Have predicted Scotty to to be in the finale since day ONE, and am incredibly pleased that he did. Nice kid! Hope he doesn't love that niceness along way, in the midst of the 'business' that goes along with fame. And I think FAME will be second nature for this young man!!
Way to go, Scotty! Well deserved!!
The hugs through the audience...and Jack Black is wondering, "Hey! Where's MY hug?"Love that.
Another excellent season! You doth rock muchly!
LAST EDITED ON 05-25-11 AT 10:54 PM (EST)Agreeance with the whimsicle. Thou doth Snidge, thou really doth.
I'll second that!A most enjoyable season.
The Antique Shoppe will be shuttered until at least October for fear of offending child pornography laws. Maroonclown tapes a note on the door. She quickly packs a bag, bikini, toothbrush, flip flops, a coverup, toothbrush and checks her wallet for her credit cards and passport. She locks up, runs, down the rickety stairs to the caddy. Cabo seems like a destination for a couple of months. Some time in the sun. Reflection is in order, as is some serious holiday luvvin’. After the past couple of months she could use some no holds barred type of action. Hopefully, once the fall rolls around she’ll be able to tutor the young Scotty in the joys of (her) life.Adios Amigos et Amigas. Hasta que nos encontremos otra vez.
No Antique Shoppe for SYTYCD?
For Hines Ward? He's a worthy WR for someone's FF squad, but we wouldn't expect to find him within the Antique Shoppe!
while the Shoppe is closed.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9QMrFvrK7dw
That was one of if not the best produced finale for AI. The stupid stuff was kept to a minimum. (and btw, Snidget, I didn't know you were calling the finale the finally; I thought you were calling the performance night the finally). The top 13 were well used; we got to see a good amount of them.
Jacob, Haley, James, Lauren, Scotty and Casey all got their time with a celeb....I am happy for them all!
James outsang the lead from JP. "Breakin' the law" is my earworm at the moment. Terrible camera work on that number though..
Haley did it right with the jazz. Maybe I liked it because she didn't growl.
Great mix of celebs. Kudos to AI for transitioning from Heavy Metal to Gospel to Pop to Jazz to Country to Latin to Pop to Oldies to Rock to Pop to Country to Rock to Country.... with finesse (I may have forgotten someone because there were so many acts!).
J Lo...shake it baby, while you can! You go! Mark is a lucky man.
Loved that the camera showed a shot of Michael Johns and his wife in the audience as the show started....and that Steven Tyler sang Dream On on AI. Vindication for MJ (since Simon claimed to not know that song, and you know he watched the AI finale this year to decide how to top it for X Factor. Simon, THAT'S Dream On.).
Beyonce....she showed the girls what it really takes to glow on the stage and own it. She was the star.
I ff'd through a bunch towards the end...Most of the Tom Jones medley, Gaga, Bono, etc. have to catch them later.
Scotty sounded much better with Tim McGraw than he did last night. That is the way I think of Scotty, not the robot-ish tired Scotty from last night.
He has a good, long career ahead of him. The fan base is built in. The name recognition is there. I think he'll be opening for some country act next year (Carrie?) and then graduate to his own tour in two to three years. AI will have him on 2-3x next year (once for the album single, once for AI gives back, once for the finale?).
If you were going to work Lee D into the show, where would you have put him? The Ford cars part was where they had David Cook give keys to Kris and Adam the year Kris won. They could have done that for Lee.
Wish Pia would have had a solo with a celeb, but it would have been awkward to skip over the 8th and 7th place finishers to do it.
LOL at Scotty trying to catch confetti on his tongue at the end.
I think he also skipped hugging Jacob as he went down the row hugging the AIers...payback for Jacob not hugging Scotty when Jacob was booted?
And to MC, Scotty looks like he will fill out a bit...have you checked out his father?
