Not sure if we need a new thread each week so lets try it all in this thread, and see how it goes.

I dunno if we have the same bottom three one goes home format this year, but lets start with that.

She froze up, I love her voice, but boring, and not a good job this week. Thia is just the same every week, same with Scotty. I do kinda like the throwback country voice, but I already feel like I've seen every performance he is going to do.

Karen -- it.did.not.work.

Will go:

Ashton --going going gone. Not enough fan base to make top 10, and going third of thirteen on the night, and singing a lesser known Diana Ross song not too well = boot. Competition has too many other singers with more talent this year.

Paul -- fan base that took him to top 10 saves him here.

Karen -- same as Paul. Fan base that got her to top ten saves her.

For this week (3/17/11) should goes:

Naima-sorry girl, there weren't more than 5 or so notes on pitch. It was a train wreck!

Haley-what WAS that?? It felt like part disco/part ballad/part pop rolled into one. And I KNOW I didn't sleep through that year, so whatever....

Jacob-I know, I know, I'm in the minority here, but he just does not do anything for me. It's the same old same old each and every time. Yes, he sings well, but so do most of these contestants (male, anyway), and I just feel like he's in a box and can't pull himself out....

Wholeheartedly agree about Jacob. In every song he does the notes are overemphasized, the emotion is over the top, and the shimmery lip gloss is distracting.

Honestly, the most entertaining part of the entire show for me was when the camera would cut to J Lo and she would be singing along and then immediately freeze with this serious looking face. I guess the producers have been telling her to stop mouthing the words while the contestants are performing. I noticed it most during Lauren's song. I replayed it at least 3 times. Too funny!

On Reality TV World, maybe not. But I'm on Idolforums as well, and there was a twitter from Nigel which said that there would be a shocking result. Among the possibilities that people on there suggested was that Casey would get the lowest amount of votes. I added other info I learned to that, and it made sense.

Thia-- she tried for AI too soon. Imagine her at 18, a bit more able to emote.

Naima -- reggae Elton does not impress enough voters imo


Time for the wild cards to go, never had the fan base the rest had.


Other candidates for the b3 or b4 or b5 or b6 (what if Ryan brings up two groups of three and cuts one of the three in each group):

Haley gets the pimp spot Hail Mary.

Paul had a fan base I don't understand that keeps him afloat until the other fodder has been whacked and then bye bye Paul.

I'm guessing that Thia has the Filipino support that young Filipino girls on AI enjoy.

Casey made the bottom 3 last week and may not have impressed enough to be saved by a fan base this week...but I lean towards a fan base-save fueled Hail Mary for Casey. There was a lot of early buzz on him.

Jacob is truly a diva in the bad sense of the word. So self righteous and annoying. They always compare him to Luther but he doesn't sound at all like him. He sounds exactly like Antony Hegarty from Antony and the Johnsons. Wonder why no one has said so.

I really liked Hayley's performance last night. She did Adele justice. I hope she stays.

Someone from California will go tonight, if someone goes. I had not thought about where everyone was from until now. One half of the remaining cast is from Cali.

James, Jacob and Casey are all from Cali.

Haley's from Ill.; Scotty's from NC and Lauren's from GA.


There's speculation on the web about the bad weather/tornados last night in the south and how it may affect AI tonight. The devastation affected several states and many states had weather cut into prime time programming. Tons of power outages across several states, too.

Theories include:

--Lauren getting less support and falling into the b3

--no one to be booted due to AI sympathy for the weather's impact and two go home next week with votes from this week and next week being combined. This theory is favored by people who think Lauren may go home because the southern voters likely did not have AI on their minds last night.

Again it was drek for me last nite. watched it in less than a 1/2 hour couldn't make it through 1 song. They are obviously pushing James Scotty Lauren top 3 I hope Haley spoils it and Lauren doesn't make it to her concert

I think we're at the point of the competition where people start voting for the overall season, as opposed to just "last nights performances". I think that is the case, and i'm basing my picks on that.

Currently on FunOffice Pools 85.5% of the people playing the pools have Jacob as going, I think the other 15% are those that always bet on at least two people to hedge their bet.

James--really bad week and it should effect results.

Will Go

Hayley--people will buy that no one should ever sing a song that hasn't been sung so many times there is nothing new to bring to it that hasn't already been done. Because everyone knows that no new songs are ever played on the radio (which may explain why they think songs from decades ago are relevant today)

Jacob--while desperation seems to bring out the entertaining in him, I don't think even these performances will save him from elimination this week.


I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure.

Jacob --he is the agenda'd boot. Haley in the pimp spot, and James and Scotty in it to win it, and Lauren already having a F3 benefit concert appearance planned for her homecoming = it's gotta be Jacob. Plus, they put him second and had him sing out of his lane.

However, Siobhan got the boot at top 6 when she had the pimp spot last year so it *could* be Haley due to a weak fan base. I agree with Geekboys's observation that people are voting now for the season/winner and not just last night's performance.

Other B2 designee: Lauren, agree with Snidget that it will be to shake up her fan base.

Where do Casey fans go with their votes? 1) no one, no votes; 2) Haley, because Casey liked her, and they liked her HOTRS performance, or 3) Cougar voters split between James and Casey?

Who should be in the Bottom 2:

Scotty -- just wasn't quite as good as the others for me.

Jacob -- the worst by far.

Who will be in the Bottom 2:

Lauren -- she's splitting country votes with Scotty and even if she isn't really the Bottom 2, she'll be put there to shake up her fan base.

Jacob -- he's been circling down the drain for some time now.

Unfortunately I think Haley may be going home. I think Lauren may get more sympathy vote, but I hope I'm wrong.

Funny how the girl who sings the songs that mean something to her doesn't know who she is???

Usually they get props for taking risks with songs that aren't quite a well known and done to death, but not this year. Only sing what everyone else has sung to death. Yikes.

Lauren - Still not quite sure between the two who will but I certainly know who should.

I really don't know why the show wants Haley off but I think they get there wish, unfortunately!

I would have believed the above, until Kris won over Adam Lambert. Then I knew it had to be America deciding the vote-that one was a shocker for me.

This time? I think Haley, as much as I didn't care for her, has ridden the dark horse out of the forrest, up to the light, and has had her day with the voters.

She's taken the most risks, song her buns off, and has come out of this undeniably the one to watch! I think she'll be in the top 3 with Scott and James.

So, in saying that, Lauren will cry her way all the way back to the south tonight. Yes, she'll go home alright, but not in a personal jet, with a limo and thousands of fans greeting her.

Just mamma and daddy eating peanuts and pretzels on Soutwest in coach, because that's where she'll allowed herself to falter.
