So do you think they will stop early tonight since they've already planned to go a minimum of 7 minutes over tomorrow night?

Randy. Great way to start it off. This night will come down to a dual to the finish. Not energetic, pick it up. Nice job.

Ellen. Couldn't be prouder if I birthed you myself, better than the first time.

Kara. Gotta punch harder, meaningful song, tells your story connected to it.

Simon. This is the big one, I expect a lot more passion and excitement, that was a kiss on the cheek when I want a kiss on the lips.

Not bad, but I wasn't expecting a replay. Have to agree with Simon here in that we expect more on the Final night. This performance was too tame to start the night off with.

Get this dude a glass of water, his saliva is thick as syrup.

Bor-ing. I don't think he even used his full allotment of seconds -- and I'm glad he didn't. A performance so low-key, it overshot light-FM and created zero gravity radio.

Starts off kinda soft, having fun at he end.

Randy. Round one started slow, but picked it up and at the end the Crystal we love, hope you make a record like that, it was dope dude.

Ellen. I repeat myself over and over. So compelling fill up the room stunning.

Kara. Told us so much about you as an artist, fire in your belly.

Simon. Brought me back to when we fell in love with you. Last few weeks haven't been great, but that was great and we have a competition.

Classic Crystal, much more energetic than Lee's opening performance. Definitely her kind of song that gives solid credence to comparisons of her with Janis.

She's going for the audience connection tonight -- something Lee still can't seem to pull off. The definite winner of Round One, and there was no counter-pimping that could sound credible while trying to convince people otherwise.

Guess what, in a change of pace, Lee is playing the acoustic guitar.

Trying some constipated synchronized knee bends as choreography, they really shouldn't shoot his rear end when he does those.

Has a choir backing him up.

Camera focused on the sway bot bangles.


Randy. That was better, passion vocally, started off pitchy but pulled it together by the end.

Ellen. Felt you went off, but it is about the performance, a couple of times got into it then pull back. See more of that.

Kara. What makes you great is you are emotionally accessible, it wasn't a perfect vocal but I love that about you.

Simon. Brilliant choice of song and went off melody. You are nervous and another song to come and so I'm going to say things to make you more nervous before telling you that you need a 10 out of 10 for the last song.

Include me with everybody who's hurtin' when he sings that. I just thought it was more of the same Lee we've been hearing, and technically is wasn't good at all. He better hope his last performance knocks some socks off, or he'll be the next one hurtin'.

The stage was weird. Stop/danger/blood color everywhere, then a brief blue intermission, then back to 'We're under attack!' If the producers are trying to be subtle, they just blew it big time -- but Crystal could have been given a much worse song to sing.

Winner of Round #2. But don't trust the official scorecards.

Whoops... wearing high heels from the top of the stairs? That's taking a chance. I wonder how often she wears them. And the dress didn't exactly fit her derriere very well. But I'm being picky -- she goes on stage without the guitar this time, let's the arrangement do its thing and she lets it all out with her voice, with a couple of notes that would even make Siobhan proud. Just like Round 1, Round 2 goes to Crystal.

I agree that the heels and stairs were bad. In my opinion, the start of the song was a little shaky because Crystal was a little shaky coming down those stairs. She still killed Lee in round 2 (and 1 and 3).

Randy. Dude, listen what is cool, started off interesting. I feel you, but when you hit the high notes got the groove, big strong rock voice.

Ellen. How do you feel right now. He says he is feeling it. I'll tell you, watching the process and making it this far, you will fully present and taking in everyone's energy. Love you could get to that place.

Kara. I think you got swallowed up, some good and not so good moments. You've grown the most and most commercial voice and you deserve to be here tonight.

Simon. I think you made the most of this. Final time judging this, I want to say this is what this competition was for, someone that needs a break you are a great guy and I genuinely wish the best for you.

Lee tries to do what Crystal just did - go without a guitar and (attempt to) showcase his voice. Not bad, I suppose, with a few good moments in the midst of that song, but it's going to take more than a few good moments to be an Idol. Kudos to him for his improvement this season (which I honestly didn't expect).

As I was watching that performance, my dominant thought quickly became This song is eating him alive. Dominated by the tune instead of the other way around: wants to be Bono, can only be a Bonehead. And then Kara said the same thing -- followed by immediately declaring him as the commercial voice of the season. Vote for him, America: he's got a demographic! It was as if her programming had shorted out to reveal the real feelings underneath -- for the duration of one sentence.

And would someone please explain to Simon that Lee has two releases already? Somewhere along the line, he was given a break. And now he's here. Does that set off any echoes?

I missed the whole first round...thanks, Snidget for the thread and being able to get caught up!

I'm wondering if Crystal will "win" the night so Lee will be the "underdog"...but...I liked both of their second songs.

What? No coronation song?

Lee gets a U2 remake? This is a different idol!

Let's see...this was a huge hit for U2 will people vote for the song (and Lee)?

Randy. Culmunating, this is what this show is about Amazing song by an amazing singer, best moment at the right time, incredible.

Kara. Crystal, this was a very important song. At time your walls are up, and tonight all I could see, you were emotionally invested in that song, you really blossomed, amazing.

Crystal, Saying something before Simon, I know this is your last seaons, thank you for your help and I hope you do well on your journeys.

Simon. Since this is a love fest. By far the best performance of the night. I would like to say that was outstanding.

Very interesting, bluesy, almost spooky piece which Crystal added a flavor of her own. Up the mountain she goes to the top as the Idol.
