" AI9 Top 6 Results Show ECST "

Keep all filler, special guests, video packages, judges blather, host break downs and who goes home on this thread until after the show has aired on the West Coast.

I know I was drugged up last night, but I'm putting on the leopard hoodie and humming "That Don't Impress Me Much" until show time.

As a migraine sufferer throughout my life, I feel your pain. It's not as common for guys, but when I get it, my vision turns into Louis Wain's fractal schizophrenic art and my face gets so numb I can't speak properly. Give me a dark room to hibernate in. Fortunately, it's been a few years since the last serious episode.

Glad you're back and onto the song!

I'm very lucky that they are not nearly that severe but it isn't much fun.

I've never been a fan of theirs and this performance is why. Ok, I guess, but I'm just guessing.

Coming up Shakira performing with Rascal Flatts. Ryan tries for some pimpage for that performance but after an uncomfortable moment with the lead singer just has to say that his hips will lie.

Oh and .7 nanoseconds of the reason why we are all here tonight, the top 6.

They are eating Mike because there is enough of him to go around.

*whistle whistle*

Casey's good, Siobhan's got a polarized fan/non-fan base, and Mike is a balladeer. You pick.

Casey looks like he's going to hurl... like he is really going. Yikes!

And Lady Antebellum--their song has grown on me. And for once, the sound is not "off" for one of the acts.

I'm not watching yet (waiting for Mr. Fro to finish kiddie bedtime storytime.)

I really like that song and am looking forward to hearing it. I'd heard it on the radio and googled the lyrics to find out who it was. I'm so un-hip I previously thought that Lady Antebellum and Lady Gaga were the same. (Duh.)

Anyway, looking forward to it.

So basically:

1/3 chance of a shocking, too-early, undeserved boot. (Thanks, Fearful America!)

1/3 chance of a time-delayed exit -- but at least we got Andrew out first.

1/3 chance of goat meat being served after the show.

I generally have a hard time watching results shows. If there isn't an act I like, there isn't much point in personally watching before the last five minutes. In this case, I wanted to see if we could get a detailed look at voice work sent out over mainstream broadcasting. I really should have know better.

And having Lee as a vampire is typecasting.

Kerrrrr---rap. It's gotta be Casey because why would he have tortured Siobhan at the beginning with the fake walk to the couches?

If it's Casey, ...time to clear out anything that's in Lee's way.

If it's Siobhan...I don't know what to say. Maybe that AI can't pick girl talent much? "Cept I like Crystal.

But no surprise given the whims of the AI voters. Siobhan was too eclectic to gather a large voting base. She'll go places, for sure. For you, Siobhan...

Darn the idol voters who insist on making every season a sausage fest.

"RE: Who leaves us tonight"
Posted by zazzy on 04-28-10 at 10:04 PM
Now come on, the judges/producers didn't have a hand in this? She got some pimpage, but she also got slammed a lot.

What still sticks in my mind is how Simon called her a "weird little thing" early on. I half expected it to be part of the goodbye footage.

"RE: Who leaves us tonight"
Posted by zazzy on 04-28-10 at 10:07 PM
I really thought it would be Casey. That way the path would be clearer for the Crystal-Lee F2 agenda.

Michael and Aaron aren't much competition for Lee, isn't that why they are still there?

Oh, and I wonder who, if anyone, put points on Siobhan this week in the office pool!

"RE: Who leaves us tonight"
Posted by frodis on 04-28-10 at 10:10 PM
I'm kind of surprised at all of the surprise over the Siobhan boot.

I like her, but I think she stalled out a few weeks ago. Sure, shooting lasers out of her eyes was entertaining but I was hoping she'd bring way more weird than she actually ever did. She hasn't really been picking songs that suit her, either, which is why I think less of her personality has been showing lately. (Which is too bad.)

Victim of themes or just not self-aware of her own style yet? I don't know, but personally, I stopped looking forward to what she was going to do and started just hoping that she'd at least pick something that would allow her voice to shine.

"RE: Who leaves us tonight"
Posted by zazzy on 04-28-10 at 10:14 PM
I know what you mean. Crystal, Kris last year, and others have been able to roll with the changing themes each week, and pull out something that still made them shine or be acceptable each week. I wonder how much support she got behind the scenes or if she were a bit of a diva. Her back stage moments suggested she was very intense.

I recall that any man of mine is the song that Mandisa sang when she got booted. Perhaps not the best song choice for future contestants.

I have also heard Mandisa sing live and she is awesome.

I was hoping Big Mike would go home. I am still upset they saved him.

Interesting they kept claiming this was the year of the woman and yet Crystal is the only female left.

Did Aaron collect Tim's voters?

Weird, she had the pimp spot and she had VFTW support.

Last year at this time Anoop had the pimp spot and got the boot, which was rare; last year was a double boot week because of using the save on Matt the week before, so it was a bit different, but *still*, two years in a row the pimp spot doesn't deliver?

I've come to accept the fact that the contestants I like are ultimately doomed not to win, as they appeal most to viewers who don't/won't vote. I like watching, but you'll never catch me with a phone in my hand. It's how I justify watching. This isn't meant to deride anyone who does vote, it's just one of my quirks.

"RE: *goes out for disgust walk*"

In all honesty, I haven't cast a single vote, preferring just to watch and see the result.

But I can tell you who'll I'll spend a bit on once they're on the charts.

"RE: *goes out for disgust walk*"
Posted by zazzy on 04-28-10 at 10:12 PM
I'll buy Crystal, possibly Casey; I'll just listen to Lee on the radio; same for big Mike. Possibly by a Tim song but it depends how they package him--if it's singer/songwriter, then it should be good. If it's Jo Bro lite, then no thx.

I made sure to get my old modem out of the dead computer just so I could keep voting with dial idol.

I tried, but I guess my 750 votes were just not nearly enough.

Therein lies the problem. In American democracy, it's one person, one vote. But in AI, it's an open game.

I agree. You can vote 1000+times in one night. Great. How many albums can you buy? Shouldn't that be just as important? Just one of the things I see as flaws in the AI set up. This is how you know it's a reality show and not a singing competition.

Agree a thousand percent. Why the heck did the judges use the save on Big Mike again? There's no chance he's going to win, and the competition is going to be SO MUCH LESS entertaining without Sioban in it. This was the time to use the save . . .

I hate America's poor taste sometimes. I mean, they kept baby kid AARON over Sioban? Heck, they kept Andrew over Tim . . .

I thought we had a top 4 of Lee/Crystal/Siobahn/Casey. Ugh, now either Big Mike or silly young Andrew are in the top four. Just hope this means a Crystal win . . .

So much to say, so little time.

Having issues with my main account - my fault as I changed my password and right before heading out for 2 weeks vacay. Trying to get my account fixed.

But one or two thoughts.

Casey - thud.

Christine - I liked the laid back, relaxed Christine

Lee - like him about halfway through the song but he started off on a real sour note

Siobhan - she ran her course. Too bad, I liked her but she became one big Lambert note

Aaron? - he needs to grow a little bit. He's miles ahead of Archie but he's got miles to go

Mike - yawn

Loved Shania as a mentor. And not because she's Canadian. She's one of those people who has no concept of her physical being. She only knows what she is passionate about, and that is music. Her looks are probably more of an annoyance to her than anything else. Would squash Kara in favour of Shania.
