"The Bachelorette"

I like The Bachelorette better because I think it's more interesting that a woman has the power with the reverse of traditional roles. It's also fun to watch the men compete (if I win this go-cart race I'll win her heart), pose, and be catty. The guys also seem to have a better time together without the bachelorette, while the girls just worried about the bachelor, obsessed over him, and got so emotional. Much more entertaining television.

My fantasies have always run more toward the guys competing for me rather than the other way around. Have yet to meet anyone worth humiliating or demeaning myself for.

I really enjoy both versions. I like variety. But if I have to pick one, it is more fun to watch 25 guys than 25 girls.

I see we have an overwhelmingly female response pool. Clearly this is the better version. More eye candy. Mmmmm.

An IceCat Original, 2002 Eagles sigpic stays up til after the Super Bowl. Devastation does not equal humiliation.

I prefer this show because I like to see grown men cry. The eye-candy isn't bad either

*doesn't really like seeing men cry*

If the audience demographics for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette is overwhelmingly female, I would think ABC would want to do more Bachelorettes next season (a summer run would be even better). Who do you think would be good Bachelorettes?

Brooke?
Gwen?
Someone else from Season 1?

Oh, the moral quandary in which I've put myself.

I didn't watch either installation of The Bachelor. The premise of the show made me groan and I felt that feminism had been pushed back 100 years. One man (and neither Alex nor Aaron were great shakes) being the center of attention for 25 drooling women? Yuck. However, I like The Bachelorette. Every woman should have 25 men (well 24, because I'm not counting stalker boy) competing for her charms. Do I cling to a double standard? You bet! Do I apologize for it? No way.

My dilemma is that I've found myself drawn to Joe Millionaire. Isn't this worse than The Bachelor? 20 women ready to jump a guy for cash?

I've resolved my issues by remembering that all the people on these shows (even very nice Zora) are DAWs and probably deserve what they get (rejection, humiliation, fame, jobs in TV, etc.).

Just to even things up a bit, I want to say that I'm a guy and even I like the current edition better. I think its structure is sounder in a few ways:

1) Unlike TB, Trista is known to all of the guys. They know they like her at least a little bit; otherwise they wouldn''t have bothered applying.
2) The dates are more fun. TB went heavily for romantic stuff, which is more fun as a participant than a spectator. TB'ette caters to the guys by giving them more fun things to do. It helps that Trista also enjoys these activities.
3) The guys are better balanced - or at least less unbalanced. Not TOO much competition (yet) and I can't imagine any of them having much trouble getting dates in their hometowns. So, no rose? No biggie. Let's go to the strip club! Six hours later, they'll forget all about what's her name until the show airs.
4) More sincerity. Trista doesn't have an acting career or restaurant to promote. Well, she didn't when they picked her anyway. She really believes she can find love this way - and I think the show has to have that in order for it to work.

Though I don't think much of either show and will happily switch to TAR4 in February/March, I think The B'ette is the better version.

I'm enjoying the Bachelorette much more. I really like Trista, she's really perfect for the part, so much of a dreamgirl for the guys and really confident and great in front of the camera. It's much more fun to see men demean themselves than women. I think many of the women were only into Alex/Aaron because of the competition.

Also, I actually had a dream last night about Trista, Charlie and some other guys on the show (and one who wasn't). This is a really BAD sign that I am waaaay to into it. Lol!

Of course I prefer the Bachelorette...I think it is very cool to see a buncha guys fight for one woman's attention...and not to mention, we are talking about really gorgeous guys (well...some of them anyway), ohh and its cool to see guys get all emotional once in a while.

Are you kidding me? Give me all these boys, ANYTIME !!!!!

Honestly, the way that Aaron and Alex behaved in the Bachelor was disgusting, it was like they were going out to test drive cars.

Trista has behaved very well, IMHO, she has given the impression that this is really what she wants (to get married and have a life with the guy she chooses), not just be on TV.
