TAMPA - Maribel "Mary" Delgado, who gained national fame as a contestant on the ABC TV reality series 'The Bachelor', was arrested early Thursday morning for Driving Under the Influence. She was pulled over around 12:45 a.m. at Kennedy Boulevard and Westshore Boulevard, according to an arrest report.
Delgado, 42, refused a blood alcohol test on the misdemeanor charge and was released on a $500 bond.
Delgado appeared as a contestant on 'The Bachelor' in 2003 and 2004. She was chosen by Byron Velvick during a September 2004 episode of 'The Bachelor.' During the show's November finale, Byron proposed and Delgado accepted.
This wasn't Delgado's first run-in with law enforcement. She was arrested in 2007 in Seminole on battery charges. She was accused of punching Velvick in the face.
The couple never married and later went their separate ways.
Snidget rocks! Friday Night Lights Rules!
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn... that was fun!"
Sadly, not surprised.
And if ABC only knew then what they know now, all this would have happened in October of 2004, preferably two days before tabloid press time.
