"So what's next"

Assuming Shambo is with Foa Foa, as appears likely, looks like a tie vote. Would expect the outcome next week will depend on who finds the next idol, and if that tribe can then trick the other into casting its votes for the player with the idol. Or will other alliances fracture the vote or another player switch sides. Hard to envision who will flip sides other than Shambo?

Foa Foa's have enjoyed more screen time. Makes it appear they will end up with most of the final four or five players while non-entities like Brett will not be around much longer, but I guess nothing is certain.

"Pass the idol" and the ability to try to aim the opposing alliance/tribe with new friend (Shambo) could become key as will the question of "Who wins the next Immunity Challenge?"

If the idol is on the opposite alliance of the IC winner, and the vote somehow still ends in a tie, there could be as many as 4 people safe at the next TC from the dreaded Purple Rock........

I vote for no purple rock. Let them vote tie after tie after tie, and stay on the island forever until someone hollers "uncle".
Maybe not even then.

Well, depending on what happens with the Idol, maybe one of the Galu guys will flop in order to prevent getting taken out in a possible tie break situation.

Who cares as long as Russell keeps finding those HIIs? At first, I really despised him, but now, I want him to win!

It might not be a popular question but I have to ask: Is playing "Find the Idol" really playing Survivor?

I'm trying to picture Hatch scrambling around naked looking for an idol and think: That's not what I want to see on Survivor.

Don't ever want to see Hatch wandering around naked, period, looking for the idol or otherwise.
But I agree, playing "find the idol" is not Survivor. Russell is merely taking advantage of past history and how the game is set up. As a businessman, he is used to taking advantage of systems and finding loopholes.
All that being said, Russell is a strong player even without the idols.

? Without the idols, he's in Ponderosa right now.

Without the idols, every member of FU FU is headed to Ponderosa shortly. That is what happens when you get your butts kicked during the tribal portion of the game. I believe FU FU members typically top your list; so obviously, that doesn't bother you.

1- Laura was ready to take Natalie in her alliance and they need to fight against the Galu men so we can't be sure if all the Foa Foa members were doomed.

2- Russell is at the top of my list because I like his story. He's a better player than most this season, his strategy is interesting but that doesn't mean I think he's a strong player overall.
And to be precise: Mick and Jaison are more in the middle than at the top.

3- Challenges are secondary. They mean even less to me when a team doesn't know what to do with their numbers advantage.

Don't know that anyone has been shown doing more strategizing than Russell this season. Course some of his moves have seemed anything but strategic; his targeting of any player who questions his sincerety and his sabotaging of his own team's supplies early on. Bigger flaw might be point made by Kelly in her interview; for all Russell's plotting he hasn't appeared to have made any strong emotional connections with other players.

Even so, there has been questionable strategy by several of the other more active characters in the last couple of episodes: John's suggestion to move out another Galu (Monica) rather than Foa Foa. Think this started the process that got Erik knocked out. And Laura, and the other Galu's, being so focused on Russell they apparently didn't strongly consider voting out any of the other Foa's, despite their thinking he might have found another idol.
