Choices and Consequences

Well guys, it looks like you made it through the first week of PTB unscathed. Many of you were confused, some played follow the leader, heck some of you even tried sucking up to me (as if that ever works ). The good news is, the first 3 weeks there will be no players eliminated from this game. Also, during this time, if new players want to join up, they can, but it will cost them 5 picks for each late week. Once the 4th episode is here, I'm going to start sending some of you packing to loser lodge.

As for the first weeks scoring, things are pretty similar to last seasons rules. For a complete list of the last season PTB rules, click HERE. There are a few exceptions, those I will list here. First of all, there is no more 50 picks to start off the season. This season is all about choices and consequences, so you start off with 20 picks (1 for each original survivor). You earn more picks each week by choosing which bonuses you want paid out in points, and which bonuses you want paid in picks. But be careful, because if you say picks for a bonus and get the bonus wrong, you will be subtracting from your picks. (If you do not specify, it will be points). You use your picks each week in order to pick the bootee, it is your choice how many you use. If you run out of picks, or if starting in episode 4 you do not pick at least 1 of that weeks bootees, then it is your bootee that is out the door and off to loser lodge.

There is no immunity like last year, but there will be chances to win immunity. This season you will be split up into 2 tribes. You didn't really expect to live as one group on this beach forever now did you? Your tribe will have a chance starting in episode 3 to win reward and immunity. Some challenges will take very little participation, others may take a little extra time. It is up to you and your tribe how hard you want to go after the challenges. More information on this next week.

As always if you want to play for RED INK, you need to declare it and the sooner the better. Red Inkers are trying to get negative points by getting the most entries incorrect. It is OK to not pick the bootee on weeks that you are immune or that are safe weeks, but once the safe weeks are over, RED INK players must still list at least 1 bootee or they will be eliminated. If you didn't declare for red ink last week but you find yourself in a deficit situation, you can declare it now. You must decide before episode 4 entry, if you haven't declared by then, it is too late to be a red inker even if you go negative.

Early Bird bonus. Last year I didn't have one, this season I have added it back in. Any entry that gets in or is edited before the SOTS has been posted in the spoiler forum (for those that don't visit spoilers it goes up each week on either tuesday or wednesday), will get 10 bonus points (-10 for red inkers, this is why I need you to declare). You do not even need to claim early bird in your entry, if you get it in before the SOTS you get the points, I will check to see when the SOTS goes up and award the points accordingly. If your entry goes in or is edited after the SOTS is posted, you will not get a bonus. ETA: Note, early bird bonus will always be awarded in POINTS, not picks.

Deadline for entries has not changed, it is still 11:59am EST on the day of the show. So if you posted after the deadline this week, you get 0 points but will start the 2nd week with 15 picks instead of 20.

There is still a 5 point bonus for being tops for the week (-5 for red ink), but no more top dog bonus.

Since there are 20 DAWS this time around, the first confessional is worth 10 points if you get it right (still only -3 if wrong) until there is 15 survivors left, then it will go back to the normal scoring from last season. First confessional this week was James. Road Kill and Silverstar were the only 2 to get that right.

There were 2 bonuses this week. First, was the Oh My Heck bonus. If you had said the words "Oh my heck" or OMH in your post, you were rewarded with 5 bonus points. The 2nd bonus was the pick your own bonus bonus. Huh? Simply, if you picked a specific person or tribe for a specific occurance this last episode and were right, then you got 5 points for each correct guess. Wrong answers were -2 each. Many of you did not specify any specific occurance, so no bonus added, and no negative points.

Immunity challenge- 1 point was awarded for each person that answered Koror, -1 for Ulong. Anybody that said Jolanda and Ian would win individual immunity received 4 points each, and -2 each if you said anybody else. ImHereToWin, PMSPML, and Cuon all got the immunity exactly right!

The Bootees- Any survivor leaving the game for any reason is still considered a bootee for the purposes of this game. There were 3 bootees this week- Jonathan, Wanda, and Jolanda, if you picked 1, you got 5 points, 2 was worth 10, and listing all 3 you received 15 points. Additionally, Angie received 3 votes at tribal council, so if you had her picked you got 6 points. -2 points for all other players picked, and -10 points if you didn't pick 1 of the bootees. Because this is a safe week, nobody is eliminated.

Bonus 3 is for which tribe will have a player in the ocean, you do not have to pick an individual.

ETA: You can't get picks for your bootee choices, only points, same with the early bird bonus, that is in points too.

Where the bootees and the first confessional, reward challenges, and immunity challenges are concerned you want to get them wrong. (Except in non-safe weeks and when you do not have immunity, then you want to pick at least 1 bootee.)

For the bonuses you are trying to get those wrong too, and in doing so will get the negative points or if you have selected to receive picks instead, then you will receive a positive number of picks.

Hope this clears things up.
