"Survivor Alaska"

I love the show and never miss a series, but it would be great to see survivor in a cold climate like Alaska, Hebredes Islands or even Greenland. What do you think?

I agree, it would make for a much more challenging and very different game. Unfortunatley, I doubt it will happen because of the ever present "skin factor". Not something one would expect with temps near freezing.

I'm becoming tired of the whole personalities aspect -- it has taken over as the primary force in the game, with the "survivor" part taking a more and more diminished place.

but then again, cold temps do do interesting things with some body parts...

After Bachelorettes in Alaska the entire landmass has been closed for Reality television production.

It's true. I saw it on the internet!

Here are some places they should look at in place of the locations off the Indian Ocean:
Nambia
Gabon
Senegal
Togo Mauritania
Gambia
Zambia
Zanzibar

First of all, it's Namibia

Second, They can't go to Zanzibar because of the tsunami.

Typo. As far as Zanzibar goes, that was just a thought. A thought for Survivors down the road. Aside from the places that MB was scouting over there in the Indian Ocean and China Sea, I believe he feels that even the places that were not "physically
damaged" have some post traumatic stress going on, and are using all their resources to help tsunami victims and the clean-up. That it would be disrespectful to go there and play "Survivor"
when there are so many with "severe survivor stories and tragedies" and I agree with that. But when all is said and done, and they start rebuilding there, they may want things like Survivor to happen to help feed into the economy there, and I am sure those locations benefit from "Survivor" being shot there.
I also believe that he was not as set on those locations, once Madagascar and some of the other locations kept getting identified, I think that he already was considering other locations. Hopefully, he will surprise all of us this time around.

The producers want to show skimpy clothing and lots of skin. They do not want the bodies being covered up by coats.

I doubt will will ever see it.

Mark Burnette has also said that it will never take place in the U.S.

Not that likely to happen in a cold climate ever. No matter what they say. But if it does, I think after the first time, you won't see a second time. The health risks and alot of other things that go along with health risks from overexposure will keep alot of people from applying. I also believe it will cut down the "types" of people applying. Younger people are more willing and more inclined to do survivor in warmer, tropical climates. I do not see it flying with an American audience.

Ahhhh Alaska - a place I once called home, and not necessarily as cold as one might think.

Survival in AK (or Siberia for that matter) would be interesting in the summer months. Plenty of warm for half nakedness... no darkness which messes with sleep beyond belief. Bugs the size of SUVs... lots of fish and plants to eat, and sheer misery if you get into the pushki(sp?) it is 10 times worse than poison ivy...

"How about Survivor Killarney Lakes, Ireland"

This would be a different venue and I think interesting. I don't know if Killarney lakes would be the best place, but there are several different themes and the "Great Famine" would almost fit in with a Survivor theme. There is alot to Ireland and I think it would be a great idea.
