Have we ever seen a detour where one of the choices is closed and the other is not?

TAR5 episode 5, Egypt. Detour: Rock & Roll or Hump & Ride. In Rock & Roll, teams had to use traditional techniques to transport 600 pounds (270 kg) of two-stone rock across an area the size of football field. In Hump & Ride, teams had to pick a pair of horse and two camels loaded with carpets to a merchant.

Camels went off duty as night was approaching.

it still seems really wierd to me. What would the producers have done if all of the contestants had followed the same route to Moscow and all missed the connecting flight. Would they still call this a detour with only 1 choice for everyone

Don't know what they would have done. But they would have had several hours to catch the problem and put in a fix. After all, the swim team wasn't going to keep practicing forever.

They would've just invented another "hours of operation" bunch point like the Moscow museum which didn't open until 9:30 but had no task to do at the site.
