The fur is flying!

Brendon bumped Ralph as Ralph/Vanessa were scurrying along in the airport. Then they confronted each other in the lineup to get onto the plane and lots of epithets were being hurled about, the last was "get your nose fixed before you get your boobs fixed" aimed at BB Rachel.

They're all off to Tanzania.

As usual, Rachel goes off into a corner, weeping that she isn't fat.

Art and JJ confront the kindergarten teachers FBI agents and say "we know you're not kindergarten teachers, you've got to be in law enforcement of some kind from the jargon you're using". The ladies stick to the story that they're teachers.

I haven't been much of a fan of Art & JJ all along but tonight they were major league d-bags. Stirring up trouble with nearly all the other teams, being sore losers when Rachel & Dave and Mark & Bopper passed them and their attitude towards Brendon & Rachel. Didn't seem like Brendon & Rachel were following them, everyone showed up at the same travel agency and wanted the same flight.

Agreed! The worst was that they stirred the trouble and then told Phil they wanted to stay out of it

If you can't spot the hypocrite in the room, it's probably you.

For other shows (Apprentice excepted), this sort of edit would be screaming Epic Fail Approaching. But the villain team -- and they're getting there -- can and does win the race. I don't know what we're in for. I just know the border patrol is running out of bridges.

I actually haven't really had a problem with Art/JJ this season until last night. I didn't get the anger toward Brenchel for following them. From what I have seen most of the season, Brenchel has been behind them the whole time and last night, there was no other way to go half the time.

I agree Boo.
It's either follow whoever is in front or go the wrong way.
Oops! AND go the wrong way....they did that for a little while!

I figure there must be more going on during pit stops that we don't know about. Or maybe they've all heard so much whining from Rachel, they are annoyed that much. Can't say I blame them for that.

Border Patrol acts like they deserve getting 1st every time casue they are better than the others; and not just better racers.
I'm not liking the attitudes.

It was good to see them make a mistake that set them back in the pack for a change.

Her smile is painted on like her overdone make up.

Um...isn't that the same thing. The sky is blue, like a blue sky.

Teams take a charter plane to fly over the Kilimanjaro area and view the wildlife strolling about.

They land and head off to safari jeeps to drive to Ngorongo (sp?) Crater and find a warrior standing by a set of bikes.

Detour time!

Markmanship - fling a weapon to knock off a target on a wheel or Courtship - take part in a traditional jumping routine called hatmizu.

After the detour... find the Simba Campsite.

Oof, the courtship detour seems to be waaaaay easier than the markmanship one, not even close.

Nice to get a real sense of the scenery and seeing the locals be so joyful at seeing the Racers come by.

Funniest line while doing the task: Art (or was it JJ?): "That's why we are not here with our wives."

Surprised how many took the marksmanship but then read Phil's tweet

"A to Q You better believe it’s tough jumping for a minute at this altitude, we were at about 7,500 feet here"

And I wonder if some were worried about the whole breathing thing.

They are so full of hot air that I don't know why it would be a concern! The targets didn't seem too tough.

"RE: TAR 20 - Episode 7 - East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by kidflash212 on 04-08-12 at 10:21 PM
I agree - the targets weren't much tougher than jumping in place for one minute. I even noticed the guy operating the bicycle that turned the targets would slow down when they were throwing.

I thought that was because he was afraid of being hit! My scorecard shows quite a few wild pitches!

At the Simba Campsite, teams must construct an elaborate safari kit from materials on a truck.

The order of finish:

1- Dave and Rachel
2- Mark and Bopper
3- Art and JJ
4- Brendon and Rachel
5- Vanessa and Ralph
6- Nary and Jamie but it is a NEL

What poor timing...We didn't have an episode last week and it's almost as if we don't have one this week either.

LAST EDITED ON 04-08-12 AT 09:23 PM (EST)

Thanks for picking up the slack! Ended up doing a little bedtime-prep routine with the boys for a while, so fell behind on my transcription of segments on tonight's show.

ETA: It's TAR, what did you expect? It felt like it had been so long since the previous episode that I almost forgot there was a TAR episode tonight, and then they pull this NEL crap. On the bright side, that's one less NEL to worry about from now until the end of the season.

"Next week..."

We have a double U-Turn! I see potential for plenty of fireworks as one of the warring teams will likely want to use it on the other (talking about Brendon/Rachel and Vanessa/Ralph).

I kept refreshing the page, wanting to leave you time to post but I couldn't keep from posting any longer!!

It was pretty obvious it would be a NEL too when they had what amounted to a bunching point right before the pit-stop.

I was thinking non-elimination when the Detours were set up that there was little chance to make up time after the staggered flights. A Detour that takes one minute seemed a little too easy.

I was also wondering about a NEL because I thought it was kind of mean that they would have to put together this whole campsite and then not use it.

"Previews"
Posted by michel on 04-08-12 at 09:44 PM
Next week: A speed bump and a double U-turn. It really looks like the U-turned teams will be Art/JJ and Brendon and Rachel. Art/JJ are so upset with Dave and Rachel that they must be the ones using that U-turn. If they do it only to get first place then they are dumb.

I just want to see someone other than Dave & Rachel or Art & JJ win a leg.

Best guess - Art & JJ and Brendon & Rachel get the U-Turns.

Did anyone sort of go "what" when Phil said that the bicycle was a traditional mode of transportation for the Masai? I tried imagining one of them on those bikes in the tour de France!

"RE: Traditional?"

Yeah - Bicycle and Masai Warrior don't seem to belong in the same sentence.

Having been to Kenya myself and in speaking with students in my class who hail from Kenya and Uganda, bikes are a pretty common form of touring there as there are a lot of places where a safari vehicle will have a lot of difficulty navigating. I didn't go on one but apparently guided bike tours are pretty popular.
