"TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"

LAST EDITED ON 02-27-11 AT 08:55 PM (EST)

When we last left the Racers, almost all of the teams had reached the first 'Pit Stop' which is in quotes because they were all given their next clue immediately upon arrival.

Of note: Gary/Mallory got there first and claimed the Express Pass which allows them to skip a task anywhere on the course. It was extremely important that they got it because 2nd place Amanda/Kris are automatically U-turned for the first Detour of the Race, which has to be tonight... Also of note, the Cowboys of Jet/Cord haven't even made it to that 'Pit Stop' yet and currently are in Dead Freaking Last...

Keep details here until about Midnight Eastern...

*blink*

Someone at CBS is going to get fired for this. They are seriously committed to TAR starting late.

They can blame Ohio State for blowing Indiana out of the water and ending the game with well over 30 minutes to spare...

And the refs couldn't do anything to slow down the game?

Or did CBS have to stop bribing them to make all games run late because of budget cuts? Or does the NFL have some exclusive contract with them?

I think they're saving their ref bribe money for the next couple of weekends...

We've been watching TAR since 7 pm ET here because of the Oscars airing later tonight on our CTV network feed. Earlier than usual!

It's an interesting episode so far... funny to see the teams dressed up as kangaroos hopping on the streets while wearing springers on their feet.

Just how much have you had to drink tonight Pepe?

that can't be really what is going to happen, can it?

Yes, they did have to hop around twon wearing kangeroo suits trying to find the intersection of Hg and Bi which they had to figure was Mercury and Bismuth

If anyone wants to know in order to watch the Oscars, the final order was:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
1- Zev/Justin
2- Globetrotters
3- Cowboys
4- Keisha and Jen
5- Margie and Luke
6- Mel Mike
7- Kent and Vyxsin
8- Jamie and Cara
9- Gary and Mallory
10- Ron and Christina

Philiminated: Amanda and Kris

It was especially funny to see Big Easy bouncing around in a kangaroo suit. He is a large man!

Don't look if you want to follow the episode in its entirety without being spoiled.

Cool idea to give teams a clue telling them where to go just by using the elements table - they have to find an intersection using the full names of two elements (Mercury St. and Bismuth St.).

1. Zev/Justin - they win a trip for two.
2. Big Easy/Flight Time - the biggest kangaroos you've ever seen.
3. Jet/Cord
4. Kisha/Jen
5. Margie/Luke
6. Mel/Mike (Mike seems to have nicely recovered from his leg issues)
7. Kent/Vyxsin
8. Jaime/Cara ("best-looking kangaroos to roll into town")
9. Gary/Mallory

That leaves two teams well back... Amanda/Kris and Ron/Christina

And it's....

10. Ron/Christina
11. Amanda/Kris - Philiminated

Looks like I'll need my Rebuy for next week's Casino...

I don't know why I bothered rebuying. Will he let us rebuy again?

We're off to Japan. There's a messy roadblock with teams flinging mud around.

And we might have a "game-changing setback" with Jamie/Cara as one of them apparently hit "him" with a car - it's not clear whether they hit a live person or another vehicle, or simply bumped an inanimate object on the side of the road.

I think Jet and cord should have had to do the U-turn since they finished last in the 1st leg and i also think wach team should have been given their opwn street to find. It was too easy that they followed each other leaving Amanda and Kris alone.

"RE: Order of finish ..."
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 02-27-11 at 09:18 PM
Agreed. I thought they should have been penalized because the flags were no different from the paper airplanes that Amanda/Kris got stuck on.

We've now had two clues where teams piggybacked on each other to get to the next step, bypassing the need to use their actual brains. I hope this isn't the start of a very bad trend for this season...

"RE: Order of finish ..."

I agree too. I like that they are making things tougher for these second chancers but I think they are even more apt to work with each other because they know each other already. Some teams are getting a free ride.

At the very least there should have been a Speed Bump for Jet & Cord. That's the penalty for coming in last on a non-elimination leg, right? I fear we are seeing special Jet & Cord rules.

"RE: Order of finish ..."
Posted by Snidget on 02-28-11 at 07:12 AM
I'd call this a super leg, not a non-elimination. I don't think there has ever been a punishment for being last to get the "you are still racing" clue from Phil on other races with a double/super leg with a pit-pause.

Yes but they never actually called it a pit stop previously when they had superlegs. They never had the Native Greeter at the TBC stage before and they gave Gary & Mallory the Express Pass so that should count as winning the leg which would suggest the leg did finish. And if Zimbochick is correct below about Phil saying "10 teams will continue to race" at the beginning of the show, I have to wonder if there isn't some manipulation to keep "fan favorites" Jet & Cord in the race.

Everyone got action shots from last week's episode in the opening credits tonight...

We re-join the Cowboys in decoding hell with a flashback to what the password is....

They have to head back to Sydney for a charter flight at a place called "To Sail To Stop..." the first 6 teams will get on the 6:00am flight (rest get on the 6:30am flight)

Globetrotters, Cheerleaders, and Margie/Luke all take the Ferry back, after a few teams decided to take a Taxi back...

Ron/Christina are arguing again and they're gonna also take the Ferry, it appears....

Cowboys try again, and finally get the password right!

"RE: TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:13 PM
Mel starts cramping up after the fake Pit Stop and really locks up on the Ferry back.

The Goths argue as they head to the Ferry, as well

Zev/Justin and Sista Act Googled the possible location of the sign up sheet... and they're the first to sign up!

Margie/Luke encounter someone with a laptop and with the Cheerleaders figure out that Town Hall is the signup sheet's location.

Meanwhile, Jet/Cord need to take a couple of attempts to get the clue to the Fake Stop...

Cheerleaders/Margie/Luke are also on the first flight.

Jet And Cord finally finish episode 1 15 minutes into episode 2

"RE: TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:16 PM
Mel/Mike and the Goths are also on the first flight.

Cowboys finally reach Phil who tell them they've got a second chance (and their Wild West theme plays)...

Cowboys are fortunate that once they get to the sign-up sheet, they'll be bunched up with the other flight 2 groups and may only be half an hour behind... If they can find out where they need to go, that is... Night has fallen, and they haven't signed in yet...

"RE: TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:20 PM
Cowboys finally get to the sign-up sheet, and pretty much head directly to the airport to get on their flight...

Upon landing, they have cars with a clue on the windshield.

Drive yourselves to the Living Desert.

"Detour!"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:24 PM
Spirit World or Natural World

Spirit: create a ground mosaic and then perform a dance around it.

Natural: using natural paints, which they must spit onto a template, they have to reveal four symbols...

"RE: Detour!"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:26 PM
Everyone is at Spirit World!

"RE: TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:31 PM
They had to dance on top of their mosaic to finish the option...

Next stop is the home of the Magpies, Central Football Stadium, back in Broken Hill... Goths started dancing around the mosaic with kids... and lost a couple of places because of it.

Ron/Christina are back to arguing again...

Big problem for Amanda/Kris is that they're running late and they still have to do the other half...

Ron/Christina are still at the mosaic... all alone.

That was a great shot... teams dressed up in kangaroos bouncing right past an animal control vehicle.

"Route Info"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:43 PM
First they have to suit up in Kangaroo outfits and with a periodic table find the two highlighted elements that have street names that intersect each other... Mercury and Bismuth.

The shoes of the outfit are something to the effect of 'Moon Shoes'.....

Teams are grouping together to either figure out and/or follow the leaders...

Ron/Christina make it to the stadium before Amanda/Kris...

Margie lost a part of her costume, which means she has to go back to get it.

Pit Stop: Continuing in the outfits, they have to go to Junction Mine... but you may want to change back into their normal shoes first...

Mel/Mike pick up the foot cover for Margie.

Zev/Justin are 1st at the true Pit Stop and win a trip to Cancun.

"Finish order continues"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:47 PM
Phil continues to ask the Native Greeter for his opinion on their outfits...

Globetrotters are 2nd.
Cowboys are 3rd.
Sista Act are 4th.

Ron/Christina/Gary/Mallory are grouped together and getting lost together... while Amanda/Kris are also looking for that next cluebox...

"RE: Finish order continues"
Posted by vince3 on 02-27-11 at 09:55 PM
Margie/Luke are 5th
Mel/Mike are 6th

Ron/Christina get REALLY lost...

Goths are 7th
Cheerleaders are 8th
Gary/Mallory are 9th, screaming all the way.

Amanda/Kris are on the lost side, as well...

Race to the Pit Stop!

Rob/Christina are 10th, calling Phil Bill...

The U-Turn at the start line kills Amanda/Kris who are Philiminated.

Somewhat impressed that Kent knew what the symbols for Mercury and Bismuth were off the top of his head.

Shouldn't the clue have read you must change shoes? Doesn't seem safe to allow anyone to drive with those things on their feet.

"RE: Route Info"

Margie lost a part of her costume, which means she has to go back to get it.

However, it looked to me that others (maybe Big Easy) arrived at the pit stop with the felt coverings over this shoes. I guess they could take them off when they put on their shoes, but if so, it might not have mattered that Margie lost one.

"RE: Route Info"
Posted by CTgirl on 02-28-11 at 02:07 PM
It might not have mattered but it was smart to go back and get it just in case.

Did anyone notice at the begining of the show Phil said 'the remaining 10 teams will continue to race' ....there were 11 teams in the episode. I wonder if there wasn't some creative editing going on?

"RE: TAR 18 Ep2 ECST"
Posted by Starshine on 02-28-11 at 04:48 AM
Didn't notice that, however I did notice that he said the last team to arrive will be eliminated. Took me right back.

Very disappointed in A&K, they should have bought Bilal & Sa'eed back instead.

Didn't notice that either but I have it recorded so I'm going to go back and check. Wouldn't surprise me if they changed the non-elimination at the last second to save Jet & Cord. I'm going to miss Kris - total eye candy. All the guys left range from only average to homely.
